29 – ʿAlī b. Aḥmad, Abū al-Qāsim, al-Kūfī, the propagator of ghulw. A liar, a ghālī, the possessor of a bidʿa and a doctrine. I saw he has many books, he is not turned to.

And whatever is narrated from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Ashim, I have narrated it from Muhammad ibn Ali Majilawayh - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from his uncle Muhammad ibn Abi Al-Qasim, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Ashim. 28 – ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. Naṣr, al-Bandanījī, Abū al-Ḥasan. Settled in al-Ramla. Weak, collapsed, he is not turned to.

Ja’far Ibn Muhammad Ibn Umar and a number of others came to Askar and were present there during the time Imam Hasan Askari (a.s) was alive. Amongst them was Ali Ibn Ahmad Ibn Tanin. Ja’far Ibn Muhammad Ibn Umar wrote a letter asking permission to enter the tomb. Ali Ibn Ahmad said to him, “Do not write my name. I am not seeking permission.” Ja’far Ibn Muhammad did not write his name and the reply came, “Enter you and the one who did not seek permission.”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about the case of a man in the state of Ihram and shadows. He (the Imam) said, ’He must not seek shadows unless he is ill.’”

“Al-Yamani and as-Sufyani will rise like two racehorses.”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about one with a condition of smallpox who experiences sexual relation. He (the Imam) said, ‘If one has experienced sexual relation, he must take Ghusl (bath), but if it is wet dream, there is Tayammum for it.’”

“I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about a man who makes a vow and then fails to fast. He (the Imam) said, ‘My father (a.s.), would say that he is required to pay one mud (a certain measurement) for every day.’”

“This matter (deliverance) will be carried out by the youngest and obscurest one of us.” The same was narrated by Ali bin al-Husayn from Muhammad bin Yahya al-Attar from Muhammad bin Hassaan ar-Razi from Muhammad bin Ali as-Sayrafi from Muhammad bin Sinan from Abul Jarood from Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as).

“We (the prophet’s progeny) do not time this matter (the appearance of al-Qa’im).”

“Once Abu Abdullah as-Sadiq (as) was asked: Is al-Qa’im born?” He said: “No, he is not. If I live until he is born, I shall serve him as long as I live.”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about the minimum and maximum period of time of Hayd (menses). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is three days and its maximum is not more than ten days.’”

The friend of any individual is his mind and his enemy is his ignorance.”

Abu al-Hasan, peace be upon him, about a man whose wife became pure from her menstruation, and he said: "So-and-so is divorced," while people were listening to his words, but he did not tell them, "Bear witness." Does the divorce take effect upon her? Imam (as) said: "Yes, this is a testimony. Would you leave her in suspense?"

I asked Imam Riďā (a.s.), “What it the reward for going to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.)?” Imam (a.s.) said, “It is equal to performing an ‘Umrah.”

“By Allah, That, which you look forward to, will not be until you are tested and clarified and until none of you remains save the least and the least.”

“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about the case of a man whose wife becomes clean of Hayd (menses) and he says, ‘So and so is ‘Taliq’ (let go, divorced) and a people hears his statement but he does not say, “Bear witness”; if divorce takes place or not. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is bearing witness. Can she be left in suspense?”’

Everything in this book that is narrated from Muhammad ibn Muslim Al-Thaqafi has been transmitted by me from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Abdullah, from his father, from his grandfather Ahmad ibn Abi Abdullah Al-Barqi, from his father Muhammad ibn Khalid, from Al-Ala ibn Razin, from Muhammad ibn Muslim.

And whatever is narrated from Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil Al-Barmaki, I have narrated it from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Musa, and Muhammad ibn Ahmad Al-Sanani, and Al-Husayn ibn Ibrahim ibn Ahmad ibn Hisham Al-Maktab - may Allah (swt) be pleased with them - from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdillah Al-Kufi, from Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil Al-Barmaki.
