The honored Sayyid said: From the book of Abū al-Ḥusayn Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿUbaydullāh al-Ghaḍā’irī, restricted to the mention of the weak (narrators), and he whose ḥadīth has been rejected from our companions, in alphabetical order.

I said to Abu Abdillah (as), "We are in the mountains and we send the shepherds to the sheep. Sometimes a sheep is injured or something happens to it, and they slaughter it. Can we eat it?" Imam (as) said: "No, for it is a matter of proper slaughtering, and only a Muslim can be trusted with it."

I spoke about Humran bin Ayyin and Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) said: By Allah, he would definitely never apostatize. Then he paused for sometime and then said: Yes, Humran would definitely never apostatize and become a heretic.

We heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: When Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) died, everything Allāh has created cried over him except three things (places): Basra, Damascus, and the family of ‘Uthmān.

Shaykh Husain Ibn Rauh sent the book of Kitabul Tadib to Qom and wrote to a group of jurists about it and asked them to examine the book and see whether there was anything disagreeable in it. They wrote to him, “All of it is correct and there is nothing in it to be differed with, except the assertion with respect to the amount of fitra to be half of a saa (a cubic measure) of food and food before us is the like of barley from every one saa.”

“I heard Aba Ja’far (s) say, ‘We are twelve Divine Leaders from the Household of Muhammad after God’s Prophet (s). We are all ‘Muhaddath and Ali ibn Abi Talib (s) is one of us.’”

he asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.) about the meaning of the words of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, in the following verse of the Holy Quran. “They want to put out the light of God with their mouths, but God will certainly make His light shine forever - even though the unbelievers may dislike this.” (61:8) The Imam (a.s.) said, “They want to put out the divine authority of Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) with their mouths. ‘but Allah completes His light’ means the Imams (a.s.) as mentioned in, “Those who believe in him, honor and help him, and follow the light which is sent down to him, will have everlasting happiness.” (7:157) The light stands for Imam (a.s.).”

Muhammad Ibn Ali ­Shalmaghani Azaqari challenged Shaykh Husain Ibn Rauh to a Mubahila (imprecation contest), saying, “I am the companion of the Imam and have been ordered to manifest my knowledge, which I have manifested expressly and implicitly; so come to my Mubahila.” The Shaykh replied, “Whoever of us dies first, is the one who bears the anathema.” Azaqari died first, as he was killed, crucified and Ibn Abi Aun was taken with him. This was in the year three hundred and thirteen.

I heard Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) say: “Without any doubt, Imam Qaim (a.s) will not reappear till there is a call from the sky, which the ladies in veils and people of each corner of the world hear. It is about this point that the following verse is revealed: “If We please, We should send down upon them a sign from the heaven, so that their necks should stoop to it.” (26:4)

By Allah, I cannot be stopped by Mu’awiya’s authority to speak the truth about ‘Ali, peace be upon him. I heard the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, say: "‘Ali is the best among you; and in matter of religion, he is the most learned jurist among you, and he knows incisively about my Traditions, more than any of you. And as far the Book of Allah (i.e. the Qu’ran), he is its best student among you all. O, Allah! I love ‘Ali, so You also love him; O Allah! I love ‘Ali, so You also love him."

I asked Abu al-Hasan al-Rid (AS), “Did Allah know Himself before He created the creation?” He (AS) replied, “Of course.” I asked, “Did He see Himself, and hear Himself?” He said: Allah was not required to do so because He did not ask Himself anything or demand anything from Himself. He is Himself, and His Self is He. His Power was effective and He did not need to call Himself. However, He chose names for Himself so that He could be called upon, because unless He is called upon by His Name, there is no way for Him to be known. Therefore, the first name He chose for Himself was the Most High, the Most Great [al-`Ali al-`Azim], because He is Higher than all things. Hence, His meaning is Allah, and His Name is the Most High, the Most Great. That is among His first names, because He is High, Higher than Everything.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said to me: O Ḥusain! Allāh will register one good deed for those who leave their houses to go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) on foot and erase one bad deed from them with every step they take. When they arrive at the Ḥā`ir, Allāh will register them as those who have achieved salvation and as the successful ones. After they complete the rituals (of the Ziyārah), Allāh will register them as the winners. When they decide to return, an angel will come to them and say, “Verily the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) sends his Salām to you and tells you that all of your previous sins have been forgiven. Therefore, continue with good deeds.”

“Once Jibrail came to the Holy Prophet (SAW) and said, ‘O Muhammad, Allah offers you greetings and says, ‘I have prohibited the fire to harm the man and woman who carried your seed and the man whose lap provided you protection and guardianship. The man who carried your seed is ‘Abdallah ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib and the woman whose womb carried you is ’Amina daughter of Wahab and the man whose lap provided you protection and guardianship is Abu Talib.’
In the hadith of Ibn Fadhal it says “… and Fatima daughter of Asad.”

I asked Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB), ‘How many festive days do the Muslims have?’ He (MGB) replied, ‘Four.’ I said, ‘I know about the two Eids (Festivals) and Fridays.’ The Imam (MGB) said, ‘Even nobler and greater than them is the eighteenth day of Dhul-Hijja. That was the day on which God’s Prophet (MGB) raised Ali (MGB) up and appointed him as the Master of the people.’ I asked, ‘What should we do on that day?’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘It is incumbent upon you to fast in gratitude and recite glorifications for God, even though God deserves to be thanked all the time. The Prophets (MGB) appointed their Trustees in the same manner. You should fast on the day on which the Trustee was appointed and consider it as a day of festivity. For whoever fasts on that day, it would be considered to be more rewarding than doing good deeds for sixty years.’

Give me sometime. I gave him sometimes and after that I visited him again. He showed me a tradition from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s) that the Imam had said: Whenever Allah, the Mighty and the High decides a matter, it is transferred to the Messenger of Allah (s) and after him it is transferred to Amirul Momineen (a.s) and after him to every Imam one after another till it reaches upto the Master of the age (a.s) and after that it is revealed to the world. And when angels want to take an issue to the presence of Almighty Allah; first they entrust it to the Master of the Age (a.s) and then it is presented to each in succession till it reaches the Messenger of Allah (s) who presents it to Almighty Allah. On the basis of this all that is issued from Almighty Allah is issued through the Holy Imams (a.s) and all the deeds that go upto Almighty Allah go up through the Holy Imams (a.s) and the Messenger of Allah (s) and his Ahle Bayt (a.s) are not at all even for the blink of an eye needless of Allah, the Mighty and the High. [On the contrary, they are mediums of divine grace for the people by the permission of Allah].

“I visited Abū ʿAbdillāh while a group of his companions were with him, so he said to me, ‘O Ibn Abī Yaʿfūr, have you read the Qurʾān?’ I said, ‘Yes, [in] this recitation.’ He said, ‘That is what I was asking you about, not any other.’ I said, ‘Yes, may I be your ransom! Why [do you ask]?’ He said, ‘Because Mūsā (a) spoke to his people about something that they did not accept from him, so they came out against him in Egypt and fought him, so he fought against them and killed them. And because ʿĪsā (a) [also] spoke to his people about something that they did not accept from him, so they came out against him in Takrīt and fought him, so he fought against them and killed them. This is what is being referred to in the verse wherein Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: …Then a group from the Banī Isrāʾīl believed while another disbelieved. We supported the believers against their enemies, so they prevailed (Q61:14). And the first Riser who will rise from us, the Ahl al-Bayt, will [also] speak to you about something that you will not accept from him, so you will come out against him at Rumaylah al-Daskarah [1] and fight him, and he will fight you and kill you. That will be the last rebellion to ever take place. Then, O Ibn Abī Yaʿfūr, Allah will gather the first and the last. Then Muḥammad (ṣ) will be brought among the people of his time and he will be told, ‘O Muḥammad, did you convey My message and provide arguments to the people in the way I had instructed you to speak to them?’ So he will reply, ‘Yes, O Lord.’ He will then ask the people, ‘Did he convey to you [the message] and provide arguments [for it] to you?’ But the people will say, ‘No.’ So He will [again] ask Muḥammad (ṣ), and he will reply, ‘Yes [I did], O Lord.’ And Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, will already know that he had done that. He will repeat this [question] three times, after which He will accept the [truthful] answer of Muḥammad and reject the [dishonest] answer of the people. Then they will be driven to the fire of Hell. Then ʿAlī (a) will be brought among the people of his time and he will be asked the same thing that Muḥammad (ṣ) was asked, and his people will lie about him but Allah will accept his reply and reject the lie of the people. He will repeat that thrice. Then [the same will happen with] al- Ḥasan, then al-Ḥusayn, then ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn (a), who had the least number of companions of them all. His companions were Abū Khālid al- Kābulī, Yaḥyā ibn Umm al-Ṭawīl, Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyab, ʿĀmir ibn Wāthilah, and Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh al-Anṣārī. These are the witnesses who will testify to the arguments he brought [to guide the people]. Then my father will be brought, meaning Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī (a), in the same Way. Subsequently I will be brought along with you, and I will be asked [the same question] as will you. Then see how you will respond [when that happens]. O Ibn Abī Yaʿfūr, verily Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, commands His obedience and the obedience of His Messenger, and the obedience of those in authority who are the legatees of His Messenger. O Ibn Abī Yaʿfūr, we are the proofs of Allah among His servants, His witnesses over His creation, His trustees on His earth, His custodians over His knowledge, the callers towards His path, and those who work with that [goal]. So whoever obeys us obeys Allah, and whoever disobeys us has disobeyed Allah.’”
