5. Ahmad ibn ‘Abdallah from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from certain persons of his people in a marfu‘ manner (rafa’ahu) from Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (a.s.) who has said the following.
“Foolishness and arrogance are not found in the hearts of the scholars.”
5ـ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الله عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) لا يَكُونُ السَّفَهُ وَالْغِرَّةُ فِي قَلْبِ الْعَالِمِ.

6. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Barqiy from abu Ali al-Wasitiy in a marfu’ manner who has said the following
“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘When woman becomes old both parts of her goodness vanish and both parts of wickedness remain. Her beauty goes and she becomes barren and her tongue becomes very sharp.’”
6- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الْوَاسِطِيِّ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ إِذَا كَبِرَتْ ذَهَبَ خَيْرُ شَطْرَيْهَا وَبَقِيَ شَرُّهُمَا ذَهَبَ جَمَالُهَا وَعَقِمَ رَحِمُهَا وَاحْتَدَّ لِسَانُهَا.

3. A group of our people has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Barqi from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather al-Hassan ibn Rashid from abul Hassan Musa ibn Ja‘far (a.s.), who was questioned about the meaning of the word Allah. The Imam replied
“He (Allah) dominates all things small or big.”

سُئِلَ عَنْ مَعْنَى الله فَقَالَ اسْتَوْلَى عَلَى مَا دَقَّ وَجَلَّ.

3. [3/389] al-Kafi: A number of our companions from Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Barqi from al-Qasim b. Yahya from his grandfather al-Hasan b. Rashid from Abi al-Hasan Musa b. Ja’far عليه السلام. He (al-Hasan) said
He (the Imam) was asked about the meaning of Allah so he said: The one who rules over what is lowly and great.

50. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from his father from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl from abu Hamza from abu Ja‘far (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most High.
“. . two groups who dispute with each other about their Lord. For the unbelievers (in Wilaya of Imam Ali (Leadership with Divine Authority) the garment of fire has already been prepared.. .” (22:19)”
50ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ ابي جعفر (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام)
فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى هذانِ خَصْمانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِوَلايَةِ عَلِيٍّ قُطِّعَتْ لَهُمْ ثِيابٌ مِنْ نارٍ.

2. A number of our people has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from his father from ‘Abdullah ibn Mughirah and Muhammad ibn Sinan from Talha ibn Zayd from abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) about this verse.
“Do not scornfully turn your face away from people. .” (31:18) ‘so that people would all be equal in matters of knowledge.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Hisham ibn Salim from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), who said the following
“Allah is by far Gracious and beyond ordering people to do what they are not capable of doing. Allah is by far Majestic and beyond a situation wherein things may exist in His kingdom that He does not want.”

الله أَكْرَمُ مِنْ أَنْ يُكَلِّفَ النَّاسَ مَا لا يُطِيقُونَ وَالله أَعَزُّ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ مَا لا يُرِيدُ.

11. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from Ali ibn Hassa’n and Muhammad ibn Yahya from Salama ibn al-Khattab from Ali ibn Hassa’n from Musa ibn Bakr from Zurara ibn A‘yan from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following.
“Whoever may transgress against the Sunnah, noble traditions of the holy Prophet (s.a.), he must return to the Sunnah.”
11ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ بَكْرٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ عَنْ ابي جعفر (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
كُلُّ مَنْ تَعَدَّى السُّنَّةَ رُدَّ إِلَى السُّنَّةِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that he disliked wearing a shirt which has brocaded hems, cloths of silk embroideries and red saddlecloth; it is a saddlecloth of Satan.’”:
27ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ جَرَّاحٍ الْمَدَائِنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَنَّهُ
كَانَ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَلْبَسَ الْقَمِيصَ الْمَكْفُوفَ بِالدِّيبَاجِ وَيَكْرَهُ لِبَاسَ الْحَرِيرِ وَلِبَاسَ الْوَشْيِ وَيَكْرَهُ الْمِيثَرَةَ الْحَمْرَاءَ فَإِنَّهَا مِيثَرَةُ إِبْلِيسَ.

hadith 461
4. A number of our people has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from Ali ibn Isma‘il from ibn Sinan from Hamza ibn al-Tayyar who has said the following.
“I heard Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) saying, ‘Would there remain on earth no one except two people one of them will be the person with Divine authority or the second one will be the person with Divine authority (uncertainty is from the narrator).”
4ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ الطَّيَّارِ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ لَوْ لَمْ يَبْقَ فِي الارْضِ إِلا اثْنَانِ لَكَانَ أَحَدُهُمَا الْحُجَّةَ أَوْ الثَّانِي الْحُجَّةَ. الشَّكُّ مِنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ.

hadith 88
Ahmad b. Harun (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah narrated to us from his father from `Abdullah b. Ja`far b. Jami` from Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Barqi from Harun b. al-Jahm from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said
If a depraved person (fasiq) publicly declares his debauchery, then he has no sanctity and backbiting [him is permissible].
8 - حدثنا أحمد بن هارون (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله، عن أبيه عبد الله بن جعفر بن جامع، عن أحمد بن محمد البرقي، عن هارون بن الجهم، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، قال
إذا جاهر الفاسق بفسقه فلا حرمة له ولا غيبة (1).

8. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqiy from his father from certain persons of his people from Ayyub ibn al-Hurr from Muhammad ibn Ali al-Halabiy who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about food. He (the Imam) said, ‘You must use vinegar and oil for food; it is palatable and Ali (a.s.), ate it very often. I eat it very often and it is palatable.’”
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ الْحُرِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْحَلَبِيِّ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الطَّعَامِ فَقَالَ عَلَيْكَ بِالْخَلِّ وَ الزَّيْتِ فَإِنَّهُ مَرِي‏ءٌ فَإِنَّ عَلِيّاً ( عليه السلام ) كَانَ يُكْثِرُ أَكْلَهُ وَ إِنِّي أُكْثِرُ أَكْلَهُ وَ إِنَّهُ مَرِي‏ءٌ .

3. A number of our people has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from Sharif ibn Sabiq from al-Fadl ibn abu Qurrah from abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) who has said the following.
“The Holy Prophet said, ‘The disciples asked Jesus, ‘O the spirit of Allah who should we associate with?’ Jesus replied, “Associate with those whose visitation would remind you of Allah, whose speech and logic increase your knowledge and whose deeds would attract you to the next life.’”
3ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ شَرِيفِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ أَبِي قُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) قَالَتِ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ لِعِيسَى يَا رُوحَ الله مَنْ نُجَالِسُ قَالَ مَنْ يُذَكِّرُكُمُ الله رُؤْيَتُهُ وَيَزِيدُ فِي عِلْمِكُمْ مَنْطِقُهُ وَيُرَغِّبُكُمْ فِي الاخِرَةِ عَمَلُهُ.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqiy from Mansur ibn al-‘Abbas from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from al-Hassan ibn Sadaqah who has said the following
“I once asked abu al-Hassan al-Awwal (a.s.), ‘Did the Messenger of Allah say Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) in the first two Rak‘at while his status was as it was? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes; Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, willed to give them (people) proper understanding?”
3ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لأَبِي الْحَسَنِ الأوَّلِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأوَّلَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ وَحَالُهُ حَالُهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَرَادَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يُفَقِّهَهُمْ.

hadith 1106
25. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from his father Muhammad ibn Sinan from ‘Ammar ibn Marwan from Munakhkhal from Jabir from abu Ja‘far (a.s.) who has said the following.
“Jibril brought this verse to Muhammad (s.a). “Evil is that for which they have sold their souls: They have refused to accept God’s revelations (about Leadership with Divine Authority of Ali (a.s.)) in rebellion. .” (2:90)”
25ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ عَنْ مُنَخَّلٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ ابي جعفر (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) بِهَذِهِ الايَةِ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) هَكَذَا بِئْسَمَا اشْتَرَوْا بِهِ أَنْفُسَهُمْ أَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِما أَنْزَلَ الله فِي عَلِيٍّ بَغْياً.

5. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from ‘Abdallah ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from his fahter from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid from Mansur ibn Yunus from Bashir al-Dahhan from Kamil al-Tammar who has said the following.
“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.) has said, “Triumphant indeed are the believers,” (23:1) Do you know who they are?” I said, “You know best.” He said, Triumphant indeed are the believers, who are Muslims (submissive to Allah). The Muslims are noble people. The believers are rare. Congratulations to the believers.”
5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ يُونُسَ عَنْ بَشِيرٍ الدَّهَّانِ عَنْ كَامِلٍ التَّمَّارِ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ أَ تَدْرِي مَنْ هُمْ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الْمُسَلِّمُونَ إِنَّ الْمُسَلِّمِينَ هُمُ النُّجَبَاءُ فَالْمُؤْمِنُ غَرِيبٌ فَطُوبَى لِلْغُرَبَاءِ.

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Ali ibn abu Hamza from abu Basir from abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) who has said the following.
“Whoever teaches something good he will receive a reward for each time his student would practice such knowledge.” Abu Basir has said, “I asked the Imam, ‘Would this apply to the student if he would teach other people?’ The Imam (a.s.) replied, “Yes, it will apply to him even if all people would teach it.” I then asked, ‘Would it apply to him if he would already be dead?’ The Imam (a.s.) responded, “Yes, even if he would be dead.”’
3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ مَنْ عَلَّمَ خَيْراً فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهِ قُلْتُ فَإِنْ عَلَّمَهُ غَيْرَهُ يَجْرِي ذَلِكَ لَهُ قَالَ إِنْ عَلَّمَهُ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ جَرَى لَهُ قُلْتُ فَإِنْ مَاتَ قَالَ وَإِنْ مَاتَ.

14. Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ḥimyari narrated to me from his father, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad Al-Barqi, from ‘Abdil Raḥmān ibn Ḥammād Al-Kūfi, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad Al-Ḥajjāl, from Ghālib ibn ‘Uthmān, from ‘Uqbah ibn Khālid, who said
Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) mentioned the Euphrates (River) and said: Verily it (the Euphrates River) is from among the Shia of ‘Ali (a.s.). No one’s mouth is opened with it without him loving us, the Ahlul Bayt.
14 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ الْكُوفِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَجَّالُ عَنْ غَالِبِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ
ذَكَرَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) الْفُرَاتَ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهُ مِنْ شِيعَةِ عَلِيٍّ (ع) وَ مَا حُنِّكَ بِهِ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا أَحَبَّنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ

5. A number of our people has narrated has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from Ya’qub ibn Yazid from Abu ‘Abdillah, one of our people narrated in a marfu‘ manner from Abu ‘Abdillah (al-Sadiq) (as) that Rasulullah (sw) said
“Seeking knowledge is obligatory.” In another hadith, Abu 'Abdillah (as) narrated that Rasulullah (sw) said, “Seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim. Let it be known that Allah loves those who seek knowledge.”
5ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ وَفِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ أَلا وَإِنَّ الله يُحِبُّ بُغَاةَ الْعِلْمِ.

5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Barqiy from ‘Isma’il ibn Mehran from Sulayman al- Ja‘fariy who has said the following
“Abu al-Hassan al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, ‘The best of your women are five.’ It was asked, ‘O ’Amir al-Mu’minin what kind of five are they?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘Simple, nice and suitable, when her husband becomes angry, does not neglect him until he is pleased, and when he is absent she protects him in his absence and that is a worker from Allah and the worker from Allah does not fail.’”
5- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجَعْفَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) خَيْرُ نِسَائِكُمُ الْخَمْسُ قِيلَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَا الْخَمْسُ قَالَ الْهَيِّنَةُ اللَّيِّنَةُ الْمُؤَاتِيَةُ الَّتِي إِذَا غَضِبَ زَوْجُهَا لَمْ تَكْتَحِلْ بِغُمْضٍ حَتَّى يَرْضَى وَإِذَا غَابَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا حَفِظَتْهُ فِي غَيْبَتِهِ فَتِلْكَ عَامِلٌ مِنْ عُمَّالِ اللهِ وَعَامِلُ اللهِ لا يَخِيبُ.
