The virtuous and learned Sheikh, Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Musa ibn Babawayh al-Qummi, the author of this book—may Allah (swt) be pleased with him and grant him abode in His Paradise—wrote:

In the name of Allah (swt), the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Al-Husayn ibn Musa ibn Babawayh Al-Qummi, the author of this book - may Allah (swt) have mercy upon him - presents: Clarification of the transmission chains of Al-Saduq (may Allah (swt) have mercy on him) to those from whom he narrated through intermediaries.

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A miscarried child (fetus) after four months is given Ghusl (bath).’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Sons are bounties and daughters are good deeds, Allah questions one about the bounties but for the good deeds He gives good rewards.”’

I asked Abal Ḥasan (Imam Riďā (a.s.)) about the Ziyārah of Fāťimah, the daughter of Mūsā (a.s.) (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)). Imam (a.s.) said, “Those who go to her Ziyārah will be rewarded with Paradise.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one buys the foodstuff of a people who dislike such purchase, on the Day of Judgment it will be recovered for them from his flesh.’”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: I do not foresee any (newborn baby) whose mouth is opened with the water of the Euphrates River to be anything other than from among those who love us, the Ahlul Bayt.

I went to Abil Ḥasan Al-‘Askari (Imam Hādi (a.s.)) and he asked me, “Where are you coming from?” I replied, “I went to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.).” Imam (a.s.) said, “If you had gone to the Ziyārah of the grave of Abdil ‘Ażīm who is (buried) near you, you would have been like those who have gone to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.).”

“We were with abu al-Hassan (a.s.), in the desert on our way to Baghdad. He (the Imam) said to us, ‘Today is Thursday, take Ghusl (bath) for Friday, tomorrow water will be scarce.’ We took Ghusl (bath) on Thursday for Friday.’”

“One to whom Allah grants belief in this cause (our Divine Authority) will have no trouble even if he were to live on top of a mountain using plants for food until approaching of one’s death.”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: One Salāt in the Mosque of the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) is equal to ten thousand Salāt elsewhere.

Mound’ refers to Najaf of Kūfah and ‘spring’ refers to the Euphrates (River).”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Those who go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) knowing his rights are like those who have performed Hajj three times accompanying the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.).

Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: The heavens never wept over anyone after Yaḥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) until Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) was killed. And when he (Ḥusain (a.s.)) was killed, the heavens wept over him for forty days.

The heavens never wept over anyone after the killing of Yaḥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) until Ḥusain (a.s.) was killed. And when he was killed, the heavens wept over him (also).”

Sleep is the relaxation of the body, speech is the relaxation of the soul, and silence is the relaxation of the intellect.

I asked Imam Riďā (a.s.) if (the reward for) the Ziyārah of the grave of Abil Ḥasan (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) is the same as the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.). Imam (a.s.) replied, “Yes.” The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muḥammad ibn Ya’qūb, from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali Al-Washā, from Imam Riďā (a.s.).

A man’s supplication for his brother when he is away from him generates sustenance (rizq) and repels hateful things.

"I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (al-Sadiq) (as), about the case of the sister of my wife who is of the same belief as we are; but in Basra very few people believe as we do; if we can give her in marriage to those who do not believe as we do?". He (the Imam) said: "No, it is not a bounty or honor. Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, says, “You must not return them to unbelievers; they (women) are not lawful for them (unbelievers) and they are not lawful for them (women).” (60:10)

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) asked, “O Ya’qūb! Have you ever seen an owl during the day?” I replied, “No.” Imam (a.s.) asked, “Do you know why that is?” I replied, “No.” Imam (a.s.) said, “It is because during the day, owls abstain from eating that with which Allāh has sustained them. At night, after breaking their fast with their sustenance, they keep chanting with grief over Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) until morning.”
