“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Applying black hair dye is entertaining for women and show one’s firmness to the enemy. 5 ”

49 – Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿUmar b. Yazīd, al-Ṣayqal, Abū Jaʿfar. He has a book regarding the Imamate, my father reported it to us from al-ʿAṭṭār from his father from Aḥmad b. Abī Zāhir from Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn (reporting) by it.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘In the month of Ramadan Allah forgives certain people except a drunk person, a chess playing person and a heretic.’”

“If one washes the outlet of his feces and his mouth after food with cyperus no illness will occur in his mouth and hewill have no fear of gases or hemorrhoid.’”

“I asked abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most High. “. . those who do not wish to meet Us in the life hereafter, say, “Bring us another book besides this one or change it.. .” (10:15) The Imam (a.s.) said, “They said, ‘Change Ali (a.s.).”

I said to Abu Abdullah (as), "A man made a will to me regarding something in the way of Allah (swt)." Imam (as) said to me: "Use it for Hajj." I said: "He made a will to me in the way." Imam (as) said: "Use it for Hajj, for I do not know of any path among His (swt) paths better than Hajj."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If the two business people speak the truth the transaction is a blessing for them; but if they speak lies and cheat, it does not become a blessing for them. They have the choice to keep or dismiss the transaction as long as they you must not depart each other. After they depart the words of the owner of merchandise are accepted or they can mutually agree to dismiss the transaction.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, about the case of a man who has made a will to spend in the way of Allah. He (the Imam) said to me to spend it for al-Haj j . I said that he has said to spend it in the way of Allah. He (the Imam) said, ‘Spend for al-Hajj because I do not see anything in His way better than al-Hajj.”’

When Motaz ordered that while passing through Kufa with Imam Hasan Askari (a.s), they should entrust him to Saeed, the chamberlain, so that they may take the Imam to the palace of Ibn Hubairah in a way that people introduce one another. Abu Haitham Siyabah wrote a letter to the Imam: May I be sacrificed on you, I have come to know something, which has caused me discomfort and bewilderment.Imam (a.s) replied: Deliverance will come to you after another three days. After three days, Motaz was divested of Caliphate.

I said to Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him: A man bequeathed to me (that I should spend his property) for the Path. He said: So he said to me: Spend it in pilgrimage. He said: I said: Indeed, he bequeathed to me for the Path. He said: Spend it in pilgrimage, for indeed, I do not know of a path from His Paths better than pilgrimage.

Everything in this book that is narrated from Umar ibn Yazid has been transmitted by me from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Muhammad ibn Yahya Al-Attar, from Yaqub ibn Yazid, from Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr and Safwan ibn Yahya, from Umar ibn Yazid. I have also narrated it from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Abdullah ibn Jafar Al-Himyari, from Muhammad ibn Abdul Hamid, from Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Yazid, from Al-Husayn ibn Umar ibn Yazid, from his father Umar ibn Yazid. Additionally, I have narrated it from my father - may Allah (swt) have mercy on him - from Abdullah ibn Jafar Al-Himyari, from Muhammad ibn Abdul Jabbar, from Muhammad ibn Ismail, from Muhammad ibn Abbas, from Umar ibn Yazid.

“Once I went to see Ali al-Rida (a.s.). At that time I was a memebr of Waqifi sect. My father had asked his (al-Rida’s) father seven questions. He had replied to six of them and had refrained from answering the seventh. I said to my self, “By Allah, I will ask him what my father had asked his father if his answers will like those of his father it will serve as a good proof. I asked him those questions and hiis answers were just like the answers of his father to my father in the six questions. He did answer any more questions beyond six even not a letter ‘waw’ or letter ‘ya’’ and refrained from answering the seventh question. My father had said to his father, “I will debate you before Allah on the Day of Judgment for your belief that ‘Abdallah is not an Imam. He then had placed his hand over my father’s neck and said, ““Yes, you may debate me about it before Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most gracious. If there will any sins in it will be on my neck.” When I said farewell to him he said, “Whoever of our Shi‘a would suffer from any kind of afflictions or complains and he bears it patiently, Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most gracious, will record for an entitlement to a reward equal to the rewards of a thousand martyrs.” I then said to my self, “By Allah, there was no mention of this (in our conversations).” I then left and on the way a vein in my began to feel very soar and the pain intensified. Next year when I went for Hajj I went to see the him. My leg was still slightly painful. I complained before him of the pain and requested him to say a prayer on it and I stretched it before him.” He said, “There is nothing wrong with this leg but show me your leg that is not ill. I then stretched it before him and he said a prayer. When I left little later on my leg began to feel the pain in a vein but it was very little.”

When the following verses were revealed to the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny: ’When the victory granted by Allah and the conquest comes’ (110:1), he said to me: "O ‘Ali, surely the victory from Allah and the conquest has come! So when you see people entering into the fold of religion of Allah in throngs, then celebrate the praise of Your Lord and seek His forgiveness, for He is ever Relenting. O ‘Ali, Allah has ordained for the believers to fight the confusion created by the dissenters after I have gone, the way He has ordained for them to fight the unbelievers with me." So I said: "O messenger of Allah! What is that dissent against which we are ordained to combat?" He said: "Dissent by a group which will (outwardly) testify that there is no god but Allah, and that I am His messenger, (but) they will contradict my traditions, and will be levelling invectives against my religion." So I asked: "On what basis should we fight them, O messenger of Allah, when they will be testifying Allah’s Oneness, and your Prophethood?" He said: "On the basis of their innovation in their religion and departure from my command, and for consenting to spill the blood of my kinsfolk." He said: I said: "O Prophet of Allah, you had once promised me martyrdom. So pray to Allah to hasten it for me." He said: "Yes, I had promised you martyrdom. So how patient will you be when this will be dyed by this?" - (and he pointed to my head and my beard). I said: "O messenger of Allah! When the time you have indicated will dawn, it will not be an occasion for patience, it will be an occasion of glad tidings and thanksgiving." He said: "Well, then prepare for the opposition, for you will have a dispute against my Ummah." I said: "O messenger of Allah! Guide me about the (expected) split?" He said: "When you find a group of people turning away from (true) guidance towards deviation, oppose them. For true guidance is from Allah, and as from the devil it is only going astray. O ‘Ali, true guidance is to follow the orders of Allah, without falling prey to base desires and ones own opinion. It is as if I see you facing a group of people interpreting the Qur’an the way they like, and creating (dubious) analogies; so they will make intoxicants lawful by calling it grape juice, they will pay Zakat to make lawful the wealth earned by cheating people in weight, they will accept bribery and call it a gift." I said: "O messenger of Allah! How do we classify them when they start doing that? Are they apostates or just rebellious dissenters?" He said: "They will be the dissenters, blindly wandering in it, till they are dealt with by justice." I asked: "O messenger of Allah, will that justice be meted out by us or by others?" He said: "Of course, it will be by us, for with us Allah has commenced and with us shall He end. It was by us that Allah united the hearts after it had suffered disbelief, and it will be by us that He will unite the hearts after the dissent." Then I said: "Praise be to Allah, for the merit that He has granted us."
