“My father has said, ‘Whoever mixes one part of the Holy Quran with the other part he turns into an unbeliever.’”

“I once saw Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, wearing a black outer garment and a blue Taylisan (pallium).’”

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about ivory. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful and I have one ivory comb.’”

"When a man died and had a wife who was a slave, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) would purchase her from his estate, emancipate her, and then make her an heir."

“Clay of the grave of al-Husayn (a.s.), can be taken from within a seventy square yard area.”

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “How should one say Salām to the people of the graves?” Imam (a.s.) replied: Recite (the following): Salām upon the people of the graves from among the believers and the Muslims. May Allāh’s Mercy be upon those of you who died long ago and those of you who died recently. We shall join you In-Shā`allāh. The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated through the following chain: (Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad) Al-Barqi, from his father, from Naďr ibn Suwayd, from Qāsim ibn Sulaymān, from Jarrāḥ Al-Madā`ini, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

Solomon - the son of David (MGB) said, ‘We have been granted whatever has been granted to the people or not, and we have been taught whatever the people have been taught or not. We found nothing to be better than fearing God in public and private; frugality both at times of poverty and being wealthy; telling the truth whether it be pleasing to us or to our loss; and supplicating to the Honorable the Exalted God in all circumstances.”

I said to him “They speak about (and question) your very young age. He said, “Allah informed David through inspiration to appoint Sulayman as the executor of his will and successor while he was just a child minding sheep. The worshippers and scholars of the Israelites disliked it. Allah then inspired David to take the staff of those who have objections and that of Sulayman and place them in a room and seal them with each one’s seals. On the next day whichever staff would be found that has grown leaves and fruits the owner thereof would be the successor. David informed them of this matter and they all agreed.”

I asked Ja`far ibn Muhammad (AS), “Is it permissible for you to say: Verily, Allah, the Mighty and High, is in a place?” Thus, he (AS) replied, “Glory be to Allah, and Exalted be He, from that! Verily, if He were subjected to space, He would have been caused since anything that exists in a place is in need of space. Anything that is in need of space is accidental, because the Eternal has no needs.

"Is it permissible for her to perform Hajj?" Imam (as) said: "Yes, if she is trustworthy."

“I wrote to the man (Imam) (a.s.), ‘What do you say about reading Salah (prayer) of Tasbih while sitting in a carriage on the back of camel?’ He wrote back, ‘If you are on a journey you can perform it (in such carriage).”’

I asked Abu Abdullah (as), or I heard him say: "A free woman is not compelled to breastfeed the child, but an Umm al-Walad (a female slave who bore her master a child) is compelled."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Do not wear on your hand a ring of gold.’”

“One who wants his wealth to increase should stay on al-Safa’ and al-Marwah for a long time.”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Wearing al-Khuff (half-boot) provides immunity from tuberculoses.’”

I heard Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) say: "Whoever grants a man safety over his life and then kills him will come on the Day of Judgment carrying the banner of treachery."

I asked Abu Abdullah (as) about the stoning mentioned in the Quran. Imam (as) replied: "Yes." I asked: "How is it mentioned?" Imam (as) said: "The old man and the old woman - stone them absolutely, for they have fulfilled their desire."

"I dislike renting a millstone alone and then leasing it out for more than what I rented it for, unless I make improvements to it or incur expenses related to it."

"A woman is entitled to a share of the blood money (diyyah) of her husband, and a man is entitled to a share of the blood money of his wife, as long as neither of them has killed the other."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘If one drinks one sip of wine his Salat (prayer) is not accepted for forty days.’”
