“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘O abu Harun, ‘Iqamah is part of Salah (prayer). When you say it do not speak or point with your hands.’”

“Feeding a needy believer is more beloved to me than visiting him, and to visit him is more beloved to me than setting free of ten slaves.”

“Once abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about catching fish without a mention of the name of Allah. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful if it is alive when he catches it.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about the shroud of the Messenger of Allah. He (the Imam) said, ‘There were three pieces of fabric to shroud him. They were two pieces of Suhariyayn fabric and one piece of large sheet made in Hibarah.’”

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), said to me, ‘O Yunus, do not swear to disown us, because if one does so, true or false, he is cut off from us.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one applies oil on a believing person, Allah writes for every hair a light on the Day of Judgment.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Cursed is one who engages in sexual intercourse with animals.’”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I may sometimes begin to take Wudu’ but water is finished before Wudu’ is complete and I ask the slave-girl for more water; but she delays and my Wudu’ dries up. He (the Imam) said, ‘You must do your Wudu’ again.”’

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. Ghalib b. Harb al-Dabi al-Tamtami and Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Uthman b. Abi Shayba narrated to us. They said: Yahya b. Salim and the cousin of al-Hasan b. Salih – and the latter was preferred – narrated to us. He said: Mus`ar narrated to us from `Atiyya form Jabir. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: On the gate of Paradise, it was written “There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, `Ali is the brother of the Messenger of Allah” two thousand years before Allah created the heavens and the Earth.

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “May I sacrifice myself for you! Should I go to the grave of the son of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) (Imam Ḥusain (a.s.))?” Imam (a.s.) replied: O Abā Sa’īd! Yes! Go to the grave of the son of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.), the most blessed of the blessed ones, the most purified of the purified ones, and the most pious of the pious ones; for if you go to his Ziyārah, Allāh will register the reward of freeing twenty-five slaves for you. The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: My father, from a group of our companions, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Muḥammad ibn Ismā’īl, from Sāliḥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Abī Sa’īd Al-Madā`ini, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

“O Salih, follow the one who makes you cry while providing good advice and do not follow the one who makes you laugh but is cheating. You will all return to Allah and will find out.”

“Before the appearance of al-Qa’im, there will be the risings of as-Sufyani, al-Marwani, al-Yamani and Shu’ayb bin Salih. Then how does this one (Muhammad bin Ibraheem bin Issma’eel known as ibn Tabataba) claim such a thing (to be al-Qa’im)?”

I asked al-Rida, peace be upon him, about faith, so he said: Faith is a contract in the heart, uttering by the tongue and act with the limbs; faith is by nothing except like this.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘If you want to see my companions then look to those whose restraining from worldly attraction (sins) is intense, who fear their Creator in the hope for His rewards. If you find such people they are my companions.’”

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), ’What is the reward for one who visits anyone of you?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is like visiting the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.”’

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), once asked, ‘What do your physicians recommend for you about citron?’ I replied, ‘They recommend us to eat citron before food.’ He (the Imam) said, ’I recommend you to eat it after food.’”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saying, 'May I be sacrificed for you, it is upon me to fast for one month if my uncle is released from jail. He came out from jail and I decided to start the fast, but then someone from our companions came and I invited him for lunch, and I had lunch with him.' He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

Salih ibn ‘Uqbah from ‘Uqbah who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘In worshipping Allah in the form of praises no other thing is better than Tasbih of Fatimah al-Zahra’, ‘Alayha al-Salam. If anything other than this could make a better gift the Messenger of Allah would have instead given to Fatimah al-Zahra’, ‘Alayha al-Salam.’”

I wrote to Abu Ja'far the Second (as), saying: "My aunt is with me, and she is my travel companion. She suffers greatly from the heat when she is in Ihram. Do you permit me to use shade for both of us?" Imam (as) wrote back: "Shade her alone."

Hadith.4598 - Jamil ibn Salih reported: One of our companions said to Abu Abdillah (as): "I feel uneasy about Mut'ah, and I have sworn that I will never engage in Mut'ah again." Abu Abdillah (as) replied: "If you do not obey Allah (swt), then you have disobeyed Him."
