I asked Abu Abdillah (as) about a man who purchases shares from butchers before the shares are distributed. Imam (as) said: "If he purchases a share, then he has the option to accept or reject it when it is distributed."

“’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), after arriving in Makkah, first, would go to his lodging before performing Tawaf.”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the pebbles that I find with me after coming out of the Masjid. He (the Imam) said, ‘Return them or throw in the Masjid.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who rinses his mouth when he is fasting. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must not swallow his saliva before discharging it out of his mouth three times.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), disliked one’s sleeping in a house which does not have a door or a curtain.’”

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that sprinkling water over a new grave was during the time of the Messenger of Allah.”

"Let him leave, wipe his head, and repeat the prayer."

“I once went to visit my master abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), when he (the Imam) was having sikbajah (broth with vinegar) of cow meat.’”

"I heard Abu Abdullah Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as), peace be upon him, say: 'One who acts without insight is like a traveler walking off the path. The faster he moves, the farther he becomes from the correct way.'"

“Once abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about the slaughtering of the taxpayers (who are non-Muslims). He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not use it for food even if he has mentioned the name of Allah or not.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Allah hates those who divorce very often in big haste (like an epicure who keeps tasting this and that food).”’

“The case of the world is like the water of the ocean. The more a thirsty person drinks from it, the thirstier he becomes, consequently, it kills him.”

“The Messenger of Allah (ṣ) said, ‘Paradise is forbidden to three: to the one who puts others under obligation, to the one who backbites, and to the one who is a habitual drinker.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Take from your soul for your soul. Take from it in good health before illness, during its strength before weakness and in its lifetime before death.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Marriage of a woman with illness of al-Bars (albino), insanity and leprosy is revoked and invalid.’ I asked about a blind. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it does not apply to her.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Wine is the head of all sins.’”

The Commander of the Believers, peace be upon him, stepped up the pulpit of Basra and said: O people, mention my lineage. Let he who knows me mention my lineage, otherwise, I will mention my lineage by myself. I am Zaid bin Abd-Manaf bin ‘Amer bin Amru bin Mughaira bin Zaid bin Kilab. Then Ibn al-Kawwa’ stood up to him and said to him: O you, we do not know for you any lineage except that you are Ali bin Abi Talib ibn Abdul-Muttalib bin Hashim bin Abd-Manaf bin Qusay bin Kilab. Then he said to him: O ignoble, indeed, my father named me Zaid, by the name of his grandfather, Qusay, and the name of my father is Abd-Manaf, then the nickname overtook the name, and indeed, the name of Abdul-Muttalib is ‘Amer, then the nickname overtook the name, and the name of Hashim is Amru, then the nickname overtook the name, and the name of Abd-Manaf is Mughaira, then the nickname overtook the name, and indeed, the name Qusayy is Zaid, then the Arabs named him jointly due to that he had gathered them from the farthest land to Mecca, then the nickname overtook the name.

“About a man who doubts and does not know if he has performed one or two Sajdah (prostrations), abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘He performs one more Sajdah (prostration).”’

‘Allah, to Whom belong might and majesty, revealed to His Prophet, Dāwūd (a), “When My servant remembers Me in his anger [and thereby restrains it], I remember him on the Day of Resurrection in front of all My creation, and I do not cause him to perish along with that which I annihilate.”’”

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “What is the reward for those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “They are like those who perform the Ziyārah of Allāh on His Throne.”
