Hadith.1889 - In the narration of al-Mufaddal ibn Umar from Abu Abdullah (as) regarding a man who had relations with his wife while both were fasting, Imam (as) said: "If he forced her, he must bear two expiations. If she consented, then he must bear one expiation and she must bear one expiation. If he forced her, he is to be lashed fifty times, half the prescribed punishment. If she consented, he is to be lashed twenty-five times, and she is to be lashed twenty-five times as well."

Hadith.845 - Al-Mufaddal ibn Umar asked Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) about the deviation of some of our companions to the left from the Qiblah and the reason for it. Imam (as) replied: "When the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad) was brought down from Paradise and placed in its position, the boundaries of the Haram (sanctuary) were determined by the reach of the light emanating from the Stone. It is four miles to the right of the Ka’ba and eight miles to the left, making a total of twelve miles. Thus, if a person deviates to the right, they leave the boundary of the Qiblah due to the lesser extent of the Haram's boundary, but if they deviate to the left, they do not leave the boundary of the Qiblah."

Everything in this book that is narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah Al-Ansari has been transmitted by me from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Musa - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah Al-Kufi, from Muhammad ibn Isma'il Al-Barmaki, from Ja'far ibn Ahmad, from Abdullah ibn Al-Fadl, from Al-Mufaddal ibn Umar, from Jabir ibn Yazid Al-Ju'fi, from Jabir ibn Abdullah Al-Ansari.

he said to abu al-Hassan (a.s.) the following. “We narrate from abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) that he has said, ‘Our knowledge consists (of the knowledge of the things) of past, of the written nature, that which is dotted in the hearts and that which is struck against the ears. He then said, “As for that about the matters of the past is that which is passed our knowledge. That which is written is the kind that will come in future. That which is dotted into the hearts is the inspired kind and that which is struck against the ears is the order of the angel.”

"I heard Abu 'Abdullah (a.s) say as follows: "Beware of allusion! By Allah, your Imam will be in occultation for a period of time. And you shall indeed be tested until it will be said that he has died, been killed, or lost in an unknown valley. The eyes of the believers will shed many tears for him. Surely, you will be turned upside down just as ships face the rough seas and choppy waters. None will be saved except those from whom Allah has taken a covenant, instilled faith in their hearts, and supported them with a spirit from Him. Twelve ambiguous standards will be raised, none of which will be distinguished from each other." He said: So I began to cry, and then I asked him, "What will we do then?" He looked at the sunlight shining through the skylight and said to me, "O Abu Abdullah (al-Mufaddal), do you see this sun?" I said, "Yes, I do." He said, "By Allah, our matter is clearer than this sun."

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘When it will be the Day of Judgment, an announcer will announce, ‘‘Where are those causing obstacles and hindrance for My friends.” A people will rise who will have no flesh on their faces. It will be said, ‘These are the one’s who made the believers suffer; treated them with animosity, opposition, and violence in the matters of their religion. Then they will be ordered into the hell.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) said to me, ‘If you can, do not go to sleep without seeking protection with eleven letters.’ I then asked, ‘What are they?’ The Imam told me to say, ‘I seek protection with the majesty of Allah, I seek protection with the power of Allah, I seek protection with the glory of Allah, I seek protection with the authority of Allah, I seek protection with the beauty of Allah, I seek protection with the defense of Allah, I seek protection with the prevention of Allah, I seek protection with the community of Allah, I seek protection with the possession of Allah, I seek protection with the face of Allah, I seek protection with the Messenger of Allah against the evil of whatever He has created, spread and settled. ’ The Imam said, ‘You may seek protection with these letters whenever you like.’”

When Allah resurrects His worshipers, He will start with the days. The creatures will know them by their names and their adornment. They will be preceded by Friday, which will have a dazzling light, and the rest of the days will follow it as though it is a noble bride with poise that guides those of restraint and clemency. Then, Friday will be a witness for those who hurried to the Friday prayer. Then, the believers will be taken to Paradise in accordance with their precession to the Friday prayer.

"Fasting on the Day of Ghadir Khumm is an expiation for sixty years."

"My father (Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as)) would separate between Sha‘ban and Month of Ramadan by a day, while Ali ibn al-Husayn (as) would join them and say: ‘Fasting two consecutive months is repentance from Allah (swt).’”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said, “Going to the Ziyārah (of Ḥusain (a.s.)) is better than not going. (However, sometimes) not going to (his) Ziyārah is better than going.” I said, “You broke my back!!!” Imam (a.s.) said, “By Allāh! When you people go to the graves of your fathers you are anguished and grieved. However, when you go to him (Ḥusain (a.s.)) you carry different kinds of food with you. No! (It is better not to go to him) unless you go disheveled and covered with dust.”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said, “I swear to Allāh that it is as if I can see a crowd of angels around the believers next to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.).” I asked, “Do they appear for the believers?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Impossible! Impossible! (But) I swear to Allāh that they are attached to the believers and they touch their faces with their hands. Every morning and every night, Allāh sends down food for the Zuwwār of Ḥusain (a.s.) from Paradise and the angels are their servants. If they ask Allāh for any matter related to this life or the Hereafter, Allāh will grant it to them.” I said, “I swear to Allāh that this is the (great) honour.” Imam (a.s.) said, “O Mufaďďal! Should I tell you more?” I replied, “Yes, O my master.” Imam (a.s.) said: It is as if I can see a throne made of light which has been established. A dome made of a red ruby and decorated with gems has been placed on it and there are ninety thousand green domes surrounding it. And it is as if I can see Ḥusain (a.s.) sitting on this throne and the believers are going to his Ziyārah and saying Salām to him. Therefore, Allāh, the Great and Almighty, will say to them, “O My friends! Ask Me (anything) because you have been hurt, humiliated, and oppressed for a long time. However, today is the day that you will not ask Me for anything related to this life or the Hereafter without it being granted.” Imam (a.s.) added: Their food and drinks are in Paradise, and I swear to Allāh that this is the honour which will never end and its greatness cannot be perceived.

A tradition that you perceive is better that ten that you narrate (without perceiving them). Every truth has a fact and every rightness has a light. By Allah we do not consider a Shiite as a jurisprudent until it is mistaken before him and he notices the mistake. Amirul Mo’mineen (as) has said from upon the minbar of Kufa: “There will be dark, blind and dim seditions awaiting you, from which no one will be saved except the (nooma).” People asked: “What is the (nooma)?” He said: “It is one, who knows people but people do not know him.” Then he added: “Know well that the world will not be empty of an authority (Hujjah) from Allah but Allah will make His people not see His authority because of their injustice, oppression and excessiveness in disobedience. If the world remains without an authority (from Allah) for an hour, it will sink with its people. The authority knows people but they do not know him. It is like Prophet Joseph (as), who knew people but they denied him. “Alas for (My) servants! There comes not to them a messenger but they mock at him.”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said, “Going to the Ziyārah (of Ḥusain (a.s.)) is better than not going. (However, sometimes) not going to (his) Ziyārah is better than going.” I said, “You broke my back!!!” Imam (a.s.) said: By Allāh! When you people go to the graves of your fathers you are anguished and grieved. However, when you go to him (Ḥusain (a.s.)) you carry different kinds of food with you. No! (It is better not to go to him) unless you go disheveled and covered with dust.

May I be your ransom! There is a feeling of love in my heart for this child that I have for no one else but you.” The Imam (s) said, “O Mufadhdhal! He is to me as I was to my father (s), ‘Offspring, one of the other. And God heareth and knoweth all things.’” Mufadhdhal asked, “Is he in charge of the affairs after you?” The Imam (s) said, “Yes. Whoever obeys him will make progress. Whoever disobeys him is an infidel.”

I was in the presence of Abu Abdullah (asws) at Al-Kufa in the days of Ali Bin Al-Abbas. So when we ended up to Al-Kunasa, he (asws) said: ‘Over there is where they crucified my (asws) uncle Zayd, may Allah (azwj) have Mercy upon him’. Then we went until we ended up at the (market) stall of the oilmen, and it was at the end of the two lamps. So he (asws) descended and said: ‘Descend, for this is the place where the Masjid Al-Kufa used to be at first which Adam (as) had marked, and I (asws) do not like that I (asws) should enter it riding’. I said, ‘So who was the other one who had marked it?’ He (asws) said: ‘As for the first one, that was the storm during the era of Noah (as). Then others from the companions of Chosroe and Nu’man, and thereafter Ziyad Bin Abu Sufyan’. So I said, ‘And there was a Masjid at Al-Kufa during the era of Noah (as)?’ He (asws) said to me; ‘Yes, O Mufazzal. And the houses of Noah (as) and his (as) people were in a town, at a place from the Euphrates which follows west of Al-Kufa’. He (asws) said: ‘And Noah (as) was a carpenter. So Allah (azwj) Made him (as) a Prophet (as) and Answered him (as). And Noah (as) was the first one to make a ship which flowed upon the back of the water’. He (asws) said: ‘And Noah (as) lived among his (as) people for fifty years less a thousand years (950), calling them to Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic. However, they derided him (as) and laughed at him (as). So when he (as) saw that from them, he (as) supplicated against them saying: ‘Lord (azwj)! Do not Leave upon the earth any house of the infidels. If You (azwj) Leave them, they will lead astray Your (azwj) servants, and will not give birth to anyone except the infidel tyrants’. So Allah (azwj) Revealed unto Noah (as) that he (as) should make a ship and make it a big one, and hurriedly. So Noah (as) made a ship in Masjid Al-Kufa by his (as) hands. He brought the wood from afar until he (as) finished it. Al-Mufazzal said, ‘Then Abu Abdullah (asws) interrupted the Hadith during the sunset. So Abu Abdullah (asws) stood up and Prayed the Midday Salat (Al-Zohar), and the Afternoon Salat (Al-Asar), then left from the Masjid. He (asws) indicated by his (asws) hand to his (asws) left to a place where there was a house among the houses, and it was the place of the house of Ibn Hakeym, and where is Euphrates today, so he (asws) said to me: ‘O Mufazzal! Over there is where the idols of the people of Noah (as) were fixed – Yagows, and Yaowq, and Nasraa’. Then he (asws) went and rode upon his (asws) animal. So I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you (asws), how long did it take for Noah (as) to build his (as) ship until he (as) finished it?’ He (asws) said: ‘In two time periods’. I said, ‘And how long are these two time periods?’ He (asws) said: ‘Eighty years’. I said, ‘The general Muslim are saying that he (as) built it over five hundred years’. He (asws) said: ‘No! How are they saying this, and by Allah (azwj) it has been Revealed to us (asws)?’ I said, ‘Inform me about the Statement of Allah (azwj): “[23:27] and when Our command is given and the oven overflows” so where is its place and how was it?’ He (asws) said: ‘It was the oven in the house of an elderly believing woman in the direction of the Qiblah, on the right of the Masjid’. I said to him (asws), ‘So that is the place of the corner of the Baab Al-Feel today’. Then I said to him (asws), ‘And that is oven where the water started coming from?’ He (asws) said: ‘Yes. Allah (azwj) Loved to show a sign to the people of Noah (as). Then Allah (azwj) Sent rain upon them which flooded them with a flood, and the Euphrates overflowed with a flood, and then all the rivers overflowed. Thus Allah (azwj) Drowned all of them and saved Noah (as) and those who were with him (as) in the ship’. So I said to him, ‘How long did Noah (as) remain in the ship until the water subsided, and he (as) came out from it?’ He (asws) said: ‘He (as) remained in it for seven days and nights. It circled around the House for a week, then settled upon the Mount Joudy, and it is Euphrates of Al-Kufa’. I said to him (asws), ‘The Masjid of Al-Kufa is old?’ He (asws) said: ‘Yes, and it is a Praying place of Prophets (as), and the Rasool Allah (saww) had Prayed in it when he (saww) Taken on an ascension to the sky. So Jibraeel (as) said to him (as): ‘O Muhammad (saww)! This is a Mosque of your (saww) father Adam (as), and a Praying Place of the Prophets (as)’. So he (saww) descended and Prayed therein. Then Jibraeel (as) ascended with him (saww) to the sky’.

When the Qaim rises up, someone will come and announce in the grave of every believer: Your Imam has risen, if you want to join, you may do so. Otherwise you may continue to lie in the mercy of God.”

I heard His Eminence, Abu Abdullah Sadiq (a.s) say: “When the Qaim (a.s) arises, the earth would light up with the luminescence of its Lord and the people would become needless of sunlight. In his rule, all will have such long lifespans that each person will beget a thousand sons. Daughters will not be born to them. He will build a mosque on the outskirts of Kufa, which will have a thousand doors and the houses of Kufa will be connected to the river of Kerbala. So wide would habitation spread that if a person travels on a mule to pray the Friday Prayer, he will not be able to reach in time.”

Once I was with Abu Abdullah as-Sadiq (as) in his meeting and there were others. He said to us: “Beware of allusion!” He meant with the name of al-Qa’im. I noticed that he had intended other than me. He said to me: “O Abu Abdullah, beware of allusion! By Allah, he (al-Qa’im) will be hidden (by the will of Allah) for a period of time and he will be ignored until it will be said that he has died or perished or (it is unknown that) which valley he has followed. The believers will weep bitterly for him. There will be turning-over as a ship among the waves of the sea until no one will be saved except those, who has promised Allah sincerely, whom Allah has assisted with a mercy of Him and in whose hearts Allah has fixed faith. Twelve suspicious banners will be raised, none of which will be distinguished from the other.” (Al-Mufadhdhal said) I began to cry. He said to me: “What for are you crying?” I said: “May I die for you! How do I not cry whereas you say that twelve suspicious banners will be raised that none of them will be distinguished from the other?” He looked at an aperture in the house, from which the sun shined into the place of his meeting, and said: “Is this the sun that is shining?” I said: “Yes, it is.” He said: “By Allah, our matter (the imamate of al-Mahdi) is brighter than the sun.”

“Some people say that when Allah loves a servant, a caller from the heavens will declare, 'Allah loves so-and-so, so love him!' So Allah will instill the love (of him) in the hearts of the servants. But when He hates him, a caller from the heavens will declare, 'Allah hates so-and-so, so hate him!” So Allah will instill the hate (of him) in the hearts of the servants.
He (a.s) was reclining, so he sat upright and said: “It is not so. Rather, when Allah (may His majesty be glorified) loves a servant, He incites the people against him that they may say against him what is not true; and he may thereby be rewarded whilst they may be punished for that. And when He hates a servant, Allah (may His majesty be glorified) pours love for him in the hearts of people so they may praise him for what he does not possess and thereby both they and he may be punished.”
Then he said: “Who was more loved by Allah than Yahya ibn Zakariyya? Yet, all those who were around him were against him until they did with him what they did (i.e. they killed him). And who (also) was more loved by Allah (may His majesty be glorified) than Al-Husayn ibn 'Ali (a.s)? People turned against him until they killed him! And who was more despised by Allah than Abu so-and-so and so-and-so? It is not as they have said.”
