محمد بن عبد الله بن مهران

And whatever is narrated from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Mihran, I have narrated it from Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Al-Mutawakkil - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Ali ibn Al-Husayn Al-Saʿdaʾbadi, from Ahmad ibn Abi Abdillah Al-Barqi, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Mihran.

I asked him about a man who says that he will offer such-and-such as a gift to the Ka'bah, but he is unable to fulfill it. Imam (as) said: "If he made it a vow and does not own it, then there is nothing upon him. However, if it is something he owns, such as a slave, a maid, or something similar, he should sell it and use the proceeds to buy perfume, which he will use to anoint the Ka'bah. But if it is an animal, then there is nothing required of him."

"If one of you wishes for the Qā'im, let him wish for him in protection (for everyone), for indeed Allah sent Muḥammad (saw) as a mercy, and He will send the Qā'im as a wrath."

There are twenty rights for a believer incumbent upon the Honorable the Exalted God. It is incumbent upon the Blessed the Sublime God not to put him through such a trial which would force him out of the religion. It is incumbent upon God not to leave him without any food or clothing. It is incumbent upon God not to let him be blamed by his enemies. It is incumbent upon God not to debase or belittle him. It is incumbent upon God not to divulge his secrets. It is incumbent upon God not to take away his life by drowning or burning. It is incumbent upon God not to have anything overtake him or for him to overtake something. It is incumbent upon God to help him out of the plots of those who plot. It is incumbent upon God to safeguard him from being overpowered by the oppressors. It is incumbent upon God to associate him with us in this world and the Hereafter. It is incumbent upon God not to give him a disease that would make His creation look bad. It is incumbent upon God to safeguard him from vitiligo and leprosy. It is incumbent upon God not to take away his life after having done a major sin. It is incumbent upon God to remind him of his sins so that he may repent. It is incumbent upon God not to deny him of the knowledge of His Proof. It is incumbent upon God not to make what is wrong dear in his heart. It is incumbent upon God to resurrect him along with us on the Resurrection Day with the light of hisfaith shining in front of him. It is incumbent upon God to make him succeed in all good affairs. It is incumbent upon God not to make him subdued by his enemies and be belittled. It is incumbent upon God to have him end up securely and with faith and join him up with us in the Highest Paradise. These are the Honorable the Exalted God’s conditions for believers.”

“The Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Spending one dirham on hair dye is better than spending one dirham in the way of Allah. There are fourteen advantages in it. It dispels air from the ears, brightens gloominess from the eyes, softens the nose ducts, sweetens the fragrance, strengthens the gums, clears fainting and reduces temptation of Satan. It gives happiness to angels, gives good news to believers, disappoints the unbelievers, it is beautification, it is a perfume and freedom in one’s grave because of which Mukar and Nakir (the two angels in one’s grave) shy away.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, when finding food placed before him said, ‘O Lord, this is from You, from Your favor, generosity and gift. Make it a blessing for us and make it delicious for us, grant us favors in future when we finish it. Many are those who need it and You have made it available for them. O Lord, make us of those who appreciate favors.’ When the table had been taken away he (the Imam) said, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who moves us on land and in the sea, has granted us fine sustenance and has given us preference over many of His creatures, a good preference.’”

Abu Al-Hassan the First (asws) having said that Al-Hassan (asws) was the most similar, of the people, to Musa Bin Imran (as) from what is in between his (asws) head to his (asws) navel, and that Al-Husayn (asws) was the most similar of the people, to Musa Bin Imran (as) from what is in between his (asws) navel to his (asws) feet’.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Eating broad beans grows bone marrows of the legs, adds in the brain and produces fresh blood.”’

I heard Imam Riďā (a.s.) say: Those who cannot connect with us (directly) should connect with our righteous followers so that the reward for connecting with us is registered for them. And those who cannot come to our Ziyārah should go to the Ziyārah of our righteous followers so that the reward for coming to our Ziyārah is registered for them.

“Once Abu Ja‘far (AS) said to me, ‘Oh Jabir, the first thing that Allah created was Muhammad (SAW) and his offspring who are the rightly guided guides. They existed in ’Ashbah (form) of light in the presence of Allah.’
I then asked, ‘What is ’Ashbah?’ The Imam (AS) said, ‘It is the shadow of light, the lighting bodies without the spirit. It was supported by one spirit, the Holy Spirit. In that state he and his offspring worshipped Allah and for this reason He created them forbearing scholars, conscientious pure ones who worship Allah through prayer, fasting, prostration, speaking of His Glory and the acknowledgment that He is the only Lord. They perform prayers, perform Hajj and fast.’”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh will register (the reward of performing) one million Hajj with the Qā`im (a.s.) and one million ‘Umrah with the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.), freeing one million slaves, and offering one million horses in the way of Allah, for one who goes to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah. Allāh will refer to him as, “My Truthful Slave who believed in My Promise.” And the angels will add the title “Truthful” to his name and will say, “Allāh has purified him from the top of His Throne.” Imam (a.s.) added, “He will be referred to as “KARŪB” on earth.”
