I asked him about a man who says that he will offer such-and-such as a gift to the Ka'bah, but he is unable to fulfill it. Imam (as) said: "If he made it a vow and does not own it, then there is nothing upon him. However, if it is something he owns, such as a slave, a maid, or something similar, he should sell it and use the proceeds to buy perfume, which he will use to anoint the Ka'bah. But if it is an animal, then there is nothing required of him."
