1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his predecessors that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “A fasting person is considered to be in worship of Allah even though he may be asleep on his bed; but if he does not backbites a Muslim.”

And whatever is narrated from Suwayd Al-Qallaʾ, I have narrated it from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) have mercy on him - from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan Al-Saffar and Al-Hasan ibn Matil, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khaṭṭab, from Ali ibn Al-Nuʿman, from Suwayd Al-Qallaʾ.

“I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Which kind of Jihad is more virtuous?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is the one in which the legs of one’s horse are cut off and his own blood is spilled for the cause of Allah.’”

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘The prayers of four people are not turned back before the door to heaven opens and they move to the Throne: the prayer of a father for his son, the prayer of an oppressed against his oppressor, the prayer of one who perfonns ‘Umrah until his returning home and the prayer of a person fasting before breaking his fast.’”

“Jibril once said to the Messenger of Allah, ‘ Tuba (a tree in paradise) is for those among your followers who (sincerely) say: ‘No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah, Allah alone, Allah alone, Allah alone.’”

“The Messenger of Allah (ṣ) said, ‘Verily Allah loves the modest, clement, independent, chaste individual. And indeed Allah hates the shameless, obscene, scrounging, importune individual.’”

“About the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘Allah protected him against their evil plans. . . .,’ (40:45) the Imam said, ‘In fact, they perpetrated and murdered him but do you know what was protected? He (Allah) protected him against confusion in his religion.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about touching the Black Stone from the side of the door. He (the Imam) said, ‘Is it not the case that you want to touch the corner?’ I said, ‘Yes, that is what I want.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Whichever way your hand reaches is sufficient.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man if he can consider counting the number of his Tawaf by his companion as sufficient. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that during the days of ignorance Quraysh had destroyed the House, but when they wanted to rebuild, something came between them and the House. They were frightened so much that someone among them said, ‘Everyone should bring the best and purest of his properties which he has earned free from involvement in misuse of good relations with relatives or unlawful matters. They did so and were allowed to build. They built up to the place for the Black Stone and they began to disagree about who should set it in place. The disagreement rose to an evil level; so they decided to settle it by the advice and judgment of the first person who comes through the door of the Masjid. The first person coming through that door was the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause. When he was among them, he asked for a piece of cloth, which he spread on the ground, then placed the Black Stone in the middle. Then the tribes holding from the edges of the cloth lifted up the Black Stone; thereafter, he picked it up and placed it in its place and in this way Allah granted him a privilege.”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when Quraysh demolished al-Ka‘bah, they found in its foundations a stone with a writing on it which could not be read properly. They found a man who was able to read and this was written on it, ‘I am Allah, owner of Bakkah, which I made sacred on the day I created the skies and earth. I placed it between these two hills and made seven angels to guard it.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of my eating ostrich eggs in al-Haram (the sacred area). He (the Imam) said, ‘You must give its price in charity.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who does not collect what he has lent because of forgetfulness or the desire to help his borrowers so his assets continue to remain as loans.How must he deal with Zakat? He (the owner of the assets) not the borrower pays Zakat.’”

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: The gates of heaven open up to the supplications of four, which go straight to the Throne: (1) the supplication of the parent for his child, (2) that of the oppressed against his oppressor, (3) that of the pilgrim until he returns, and (4) that of the fasting person until he breaks his fast.

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: The fasting person is in the worship of Allah, even when he is sleeping on his bed; as long as he is not backbiting a Muslim.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who performs Sajdah (prostration) on the saddle while on horseback, has said, ‘He must clear the place for his Sajdah (prostration).”’

"I have experienced [having] both light-skinned and dark-skinned maidservants, and there was a difference between them." (Allama al-Majlisi says: It means both of them have a preference)

We were in the presence of Abu Ja’far (AS), so we mentioned what the people had done after their Prophet (sw), and their humiliating Amir-ul-Momineen (AS). So a man from the people said, ‘May Allah keep you well, so where were the strong ones of the Clan of Hashim (AS) and what was their number?’ So Abu Ja’far (AS) said: ‘And from those ones of the Clan of Hashim (as) that remained were Ja’far (as) and Hamza (as) who had passed away (martyred), and there remained with them two men who were weak, disgraceful, new ones in the era of Al-Islam, Abbas and Aqeel who were from the freed ones. By Allah! If Hamza (as) and Ja’far (as) were present among them, they would not have achieved what they achieved. And had they seen them (as) two, they would not have damaged themselves’.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘A fasting person, even when resting in bed, is in the state of worshipping as long as he does not backbite a Muslim.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of one who while fasting, tastes something but does not swallow. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it not permissible.’”
