عبد الله بن سنان بن طريف

Hadith.2668 - Abdullah ibn Sinan asked Abu Abdullah (as) about henna. Imam (as) said: "A Muhrim may touch it and use it to treat his camel. It is not considered a perfume, and there is no harm in it."

Hadith.2744 - Abdullah ibn Sinan asked Abu Abdullah (as) about a man performing tamattu‘ who tied up his hair before arriving in Mecca. He completed his rites, untied his hair, trimmed it, applied oil, and considered himself released from ihram. Imam (as) said: "He must offer a sheep as expiation."

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who is for al-Hajj al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous) and forgets Taqsir (cutting some hair or finger nails and so on) until he assumes the state of Ihram for al-Hajj. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must ask forgiveness from Allah.”’

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who is in the state of Ihram: if he can slaughter his camel or sheep. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so.’ I then asked, ‘Can he collect feed for his stumper or camel? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can cut anything he wants of trees until he enters al-Haram (the sacred area). When he enters al-Haram (the sacred area) then he cannot do

"Whoever resides in Medina intending to perform Hajj for a month or so, and then decides to depart on a route other than that of Medina, when they are opposite Al-Shajarah and Al-Bayda, a distance of six miles, they should assume Ihram from there."

"When the Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family) recited the Talbiyah, he said: 'Labbayka Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayka la sharika laka Labbayk, Inna al-hamda wa al-ni'mata laka wa al-mulk, la sharika laka Labbayk. Labbayka Dhal-Ma'arij Labbayk.' Prophet (sw) frequently repeated Dhal-Ma'arij and would recite the Talbiyah whenever he met a rider, ascended a hill, descended into a valley, during the last part of the night, and after the prayers."

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of my clothes which are fumigated along with my clothes for Ihram and I find the smell in it. He (the Imam) said, ‘Spread it in the air so winds can dispel the smell.’”

I said to Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him: Indeed, Allah has ordered me in His Book with an order, and I would like to know (the meaning of) it. He said: And what is that? I said: The saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «Then, let them end their tafath, and let them fulfill their vows» (22:29). He said: «let them end their tafath» is the meeting with the Imam, and «let them fulfill their vows» are those rites. Abdullah bin Sinan said: Then I came to Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, and I said: May Allah make me a sacrifice for you. The saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «Then, let them end their tafath, and let them fulfill their vows» (22:29)? He said: It is to take (some off) the mustache, cut the nails, and similar to that. He said: I said: May I be sacrificed for you, Dhuraih al-Muharibi told me of you that you, indeed, said to him that «Then, let them end their tafath» is the meeting with the Imam, and that «and let them fulfill their vows» are those rites. He said: Dhuraih spoke true, and you have spoken true. Indeed, for the Qur’an is an apparent meaning and an internal meaning. And who can handle like what Dhuraih handles?

I heard Abu Abdullah (as) say: "For the pigeons of Mecca and the domesticated birds from the pigeons of the Sacred Sanctuary (Haram), whoever slaughters a bird from them must give charity greater than its value. If the person was in the state of Ihram, then a sheep is required for each bird."

"He should perform the stoning twice the next morning: once early in the morning for the previous day and again at the time of noon for the current day."

"If a Muhrim fears for his safety, he may wear weapons."

"A woman in Ihram who is menstruating may wear an inner garment (ghilalah) under her clothes."

"A person in the state of ihram is not allowed to marry or to officiate the marriage of someone who is not in ihram. If they marry or officiate a marriage, the marriage is invalid."

"I heard Abu Abdullah (as) say to my father, who complained to him about the heat of the sun while he was in the state of ihram and was troubled by it. He asked, 'Do you think it is permissible for me to cover myself with the edge of my garment?' Imam (as) said: 'There is no harm in that as long as it does not touch your head.'"

"If a servant performs Hajj while still in servitude, it suffices for them if they die before being freed. However, if they are freed, then Hajj becomes obligatory upon them."

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who in the state of Ihram finds ticks and bigger ticks; can he throw it away? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so. It is very mean of them to climb where they are not to climb.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One who stays in al-Madinah for one month, then wants to perform al-Hajj; but he decides to travel from a road other than the road of the people of al- Madinah, his Ihram is from a distance of six miles, parallel to al-Shajarah in al-Bayda’. In another Hadith it says that one assumes the state of Ihram from al-Shajarah and travels whichever way he wants.’”

"Indeed, the Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (as) instructed an elderly man who had never performed Hajj and was unable to do so due to his old age to arrange for someone to perform Hajj on his behalf."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one owes to slaughter an offering because of his hunting in the state of Ihram if he is for al-Hajj, he must slaughter it in Mina’; if he is for al-‘Umrah, then he must slaughter it in Makkah in front of al-Ka‘bah.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who passed through Miqat (place for assuming the state of Ihram). He forgot or was ignorant; so he did not assume the state of Ihram until he entered Makkah, then he was afraid of not being able to come back in time for al-Hajj . He (the Imam) said, ‘He must go outside al-Haram (the sacred area) to assume the state of Ihram and it is sufficient.’”
