“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘One who continues eating clay has a share in his own murder.’”

“Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) would say, ‘The market place of the Muslims is like their Mosque, the one who first takes a place stays there until night. ’ The narrator has said that he (the Imam) would not charge any rent for the shops.’”

A believer rolls in five types of light: There is light from where he comes; there is light from where he leaves; there is light in his knowledge; there is light in his speech and there is light in him on the Resurrection Day.”

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Gabriel came to me from Allah and said: “O Muhammad! Surely, Allah recites the salaam to you, and says, ‘Give glad tidings to your brother, `Ali, that I will not punish one who aligns with him, nor will I grant mercy to one who opposes him.’”

My father (as) would say: There is nothing more corrupting to the heart than sin. Sin settles in the heart and remains there until it overcomes it, turning it upside down.

His father al-Baqir (AS) said Verily, the children of the Muslims are known to Allah, the Mighty and High, as intercessors, and those who will receive intercession. When they become twelve years of age, the merits are written for them, and when they reach the age of puberty, their offences are also noted down.

I heard Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) say: One who acts without insight is like one who travels without a path. If he increases his speed in his travel, he only gets further away from the path.

"The blood money is upon the tribe where his torso and arms were found, and the funeral prayer is to be performed over him."

"I heard Abu Abdullah Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as), peace be upon him, say: 'One who acts without insight is like a traveler walking off the path. The faster he moves, the farther he becomes from the correct way.'"

“Do not scornfully turn your face away from people. .” (31:18) ‘so that people would all be equal in matters of knowledge.’”

he heard saying, ‘The example of this world is like a snake, it is soft to the touch yet within it lies a lethal poison. The wise person is cautious of it, yet children are inclined to touch it with their hands.’”

“Whoever associates with an Imam whose Imamah is from Allah, while his Imamah not from Allah, then he is associating partners with Allah.”

Everything in this book that is narrated from Talhah ibn Zayd has been transmitted by me from my father and from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with them both - from Sad ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa, from Muhammad ibn Yahya Al-Khazzaz and Muhammad ibn Sinan together, from Talhah ibn Zayd.

“My father would say, ‘There is nothing more destructive to the heart than sins. The heart falls on sins and remains that way until sins subdue it and then it turns upside down.’”

“Once a man from Khath’am (a tribe) came to the Holy Prophet and asked, ‘Which of the acts is more resented in the sight of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy?’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Considering things as partners of Allah.’ The man asked, then what is more resented?’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Disregard of maintaining good relations with relatives.’ The man asked, ‘Then what is more resented?’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Commanding others to commit unlawful acts and prohibiting them to perform obligatory ones.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘One acting unjustly, his supporter, and one who agrees with such act are three partners.’”

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that sprinkling water over a new grave was during the time of the Messenger of Allah.”

“Once I said to al-Rida (a.s.), ‘Is it true that only an Imam has the authority to wash the body of an Imam for burial?” The Imam (a.s.) said, “Do you know who comes to wash his body for burial? One who is better than the one who is absence from his presence comes to wash. Those who came to Joseph in the well to help when his parents and family were absent from him.”

“False oaths are the reason behind ‘transfer of mercy’.” Upon being asked the meaning, Imam (a.s.) replied, “Transfer of mercy means spread of diseases.” Muhammad bin Yahya has narrated it as being heavy instead of being transferred.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), disliked one’s sleeping in a house which does not have a door or a curtain.’”
