Hadith 1980

9. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from certain persons of our people from ibn Suwayd who has said the following
“Once abu al-Hassan, looked at me when I was wearing sandals which were smooth. He (the Imam) took it in his hand and turned it, then said to me, ‘Do you want to be like Jews?’ I said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, it is only what a human being has given to me as a gift.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It then is not unlawful.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ
نَظَرَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ عَلَيَّ نَعْلَانِ مَمْسُوحَتَانِ فَأَخَذَهُمَا وَ قَلَبَهُمَا ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي أَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَهَوَّدَ قَالَ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّمَا وَهَبَهُمَا لِي إِنْسَانٌ قَالَ فَلَا بَأْسَ .
