Imam Ali (AS) said, The intelligent person is one who opposes his vain desire in obedience to his Lord.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اَلعاقِلُ مَنْ عَصى هَواهُ في طاعَةِ رَبِّهِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, It behoves the intelligent person not to remain aloof from the obedience of Allah and the struggle against his [lower] self, in every situation.
