Imam Ali (AS) said, The intelligent person is one who controls himself when he gets angry, when he desires and when he is frightened.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اَلعاقِلُ مَنْ يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ إذا غَضِبَ وَ إذا رَغِبَ وَ إذا رَهِبَ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One whose intellect prevails over his lust and his forbearance [overcomes] his anger, then he is worthy of [being deemed as having] good conduct.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ غَلَبَ عَقْلُهُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَ حِلْمُهُ غَضَبَهُ كانَ جَديراً بِحُسْنِ السّيرَةِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, He who is overcome by anger and lust should not be counted as an intelligent person.
