Imam Ali (AS) said, Whoever fills his heart with the constant remembrance of Allah, his actions become good [both] in secret and in the open.

Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The one whose heart thrives with the continuous remembrance of Allah, his actions will always be good whether done in secret or openly.

‘Wealth and children are the adornment of life’, surely the eight rakat prayer offered in the last part of night is the adornment of the Hereafter.”

8 – Saʿd b. Muslim. The one who narrated the book ‘Verily We have caused it to descend’ from ʿUmar b. Tawba. He is not recognized.

And a saying of his (as) when ‘Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb consulted him about taking part himself in fighting the Persians. [1]

whereupon Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, said: Verily, Sa‘d and ‘Umar have neither sided with Right nor forsaken Wrong. [1]

Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, said: "Listen and obey those whom Allah has granted the authority - for that is the system of Islam."

I was told by Umar bin Ali bin Umar bin Yazid, from Hussain bin Qarin, that he ascribed it to Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, that he said: Indeed, the interpretation of your saying of «Ameen», is: My Lord, do. It has been narrated in another narration that Ameen [1] is a Name from the Names of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He.

“Washing head with marsh- mallow (Khatmi) ends headache, diseases and poverty and protects head from dryness.”

You will soon see him very rich with a lot of followers.’ About one month later he became the governor of Medina and his condition improved. When he passed by us he was surrounded by servants and officers.”Ja’far ibn Umar al-Alawi referred to above is Ja’far ibn Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Hassan ibn Ali ibn Umar ibn Ali ibn Al-Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.).

Imam Ali (AS) said, There is nothing more valuable than red sulphur, except that which remains from the lifetime of a believer.

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who has intelligence awakens from his negligence, prepares for his journey and maintains [and develops] his abode of [permanent] residence.

“If one washes the outlet of his feces and his mouth after food with cyperus no illness will occur in his mouth and hewill have no fear of gases or hemorrhoid.’”

When Ḥusain (a.s.) was killed, the heavens rained blood and no stone was removed in Bayt Al-Maqdis without (one) seeing fresh blood under it.

I wrote to Imam (as) regarding a deceased person who had willed that a portion of his estate from his one-third share be allocated to support a man for as long as he lived, but he did not explicitly instruct for the execution of his entire one-third share. Is it permissible for the executor to turn the deceased's one-third share into an endowment because of this ongoing support? Imam (as) replied: "The one-third should be executed as instructed, but it should not be turned into an endowment."

“I asked abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most High. “. . those who do not wish to meet Us in the life hereafter, say, “Bring us another book besides this one or change it.. .” (10:15) The Imam (a.s.) said, “They said, ‘Change Ali (a.s.).”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said to me, ‘O ‘Umar, on Friday nights angels by the number of atoms come to earth with pens of gold and papers of silver in their hands. They write no other thing until Saturday except about Allahumma Salli ‘Ala Muhammad wa ‘Ali Muhammad (O Allah grant Muhammad and his family a compensation worthy of their serving Your cause). I pray to Allah to grant them such rewards. You should say, “Allahumma Salli ‘Ala Muhammad wa ‘Ali Muhammad (O Allah grant Muhammad and his family a compensation worthy of their serving Your cause) a great deal.” The Imam also said, ‘O ‘Umar, it is of the Sunnah (tradition the Holy Prophet) to say, “Allahumma Salli ‘Ala Muhammad wa ‘Ali Muhammad (O Allah grant Muhammad and his family a compensation worthy of their serving Your cause)” every Friday one thousand times and one hundred times on other days.’”

7 – Mayyāḥ, al-Madā’inī. He narrated from Abū ʿAbillah عليه السلام and Mufaḍḍal b. ʿUmar. Very weak, a ghālī in madhhab.

I was present when Abu Bakr died and Umar succeeded him. A Jew from Medina, who was a leader of Jews and whom the Jews considered to be the most knowledgeable person of the time, came to Umar and said: O Umar, I want to embrace Islam at your hands. If you can answer my questions, I would know that you are the most knowledgeable follower of this Book and Sunnah. Umar said: “I am not having this capability, but I will show you one who is the most knowledgeable about our Book and Prophet’s Sunnah and you can ask all you want from him and it is him.” And he pointed to Imam Ali (a.s)” The Jew said: O Umar, if it is as such as you say, what right do you have that people should pay allegiance to you while that person is most knowledgeable of you all? Umar told him to shut up and warned him. After that the Jew arose and came to Ali (a.s) and asked: “Are you like Umar has told?” Imam Ali (a.s) asked: what did Umar say? The Jew explained the situation to him and said: I will ask you some questions and I want to know whether anyone has asked you about them; and whether you are true in your claim that you are the best and the most knowledgeable of nation, so that I may also enter the fold of Islam. Imam Ali (a.s) said: Yes, I am as Umar has told you. Ask me whatever you like and I will answer, if Allah wills. The Jew said: I will ask you about three, three and one thing. Imam Ali (a.s) said: Why don’t you say: I’ll ask you about seven things? The Jew said: No, first I will ask you about three and if you give the right answers, I will ask you about another three and if you give the right answers, I will ask you the last one. If you fail to answer the first three, I will keep quiet and not ask you anything else. Imam Ali (a.s) said: Ask whatever you like. The Jew said: Which was the first stone to be placed on the earth, the first tree that has grew on the earth and the first fountain that flowed on the earth? Amirul Momineen (a.s) replied to all three questions. Then the Jew asked: How many Imams of guidance are there in this nation? In what position Muhammad would be in Paradise? Who would be with Muhammad in Paradise? Imam Ali (a.s) said: This nation has twelve guiding Imams from the progeny of the Prophet of this nation and they are from my descendants. The position of Muhammad (s) is in the best and the most honored location of the Garden of Eden. As for those from this nation, who would be in the company of the Messenger of Allah (s) are the same twelve from his progeny and their mother and their grandmother – mother of their mother and their progeny – no one else will share this.

“Once, pigeons were mentioned before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and a man said, ‘It has come to my knowledge that once ‘Umar saw a pigeon flying and a man underneath was running. ‘Umar then said, “One Satan runs under another Satan.” Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), then said, ‘(It is because) Tsma‘il was not there with you.’ Someone then asked, ‘Was he (Tsma‘il) a friend (of pigeons)?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The pigeons of al-Haram (the sacred area) are of the remaining pigeons of Tsma‘il.’”
