12 – Sahl b. Aḥmad b. ʿAbdullāh (b. Aḥmad) b. Sahl, al-Dībājī, Abū Muḥammad. He was weak, fabricating ḥadīths. He narrated from unknown narrators. There is no harm in what he narrated from al-Ashʿathiyyāt and what is of that type, and from what (people) other than him narrated of it.

"Ten things from carrion are clean: the bones, the hair, the wool, the feathers, the horns, the hooves, the eggs, the rennet, the milk, and the teeth."

al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: Hope to Allah that He does not entice you to sin and be fearful to Allah that He does not deprive you of His mercy.

When Musa b. `Imran (as) wanted to part from al-Khidr (as), he said to him: Advise me. So, from among that which he advised him, he said to him: Beware of bickering, and of walking (traversing) without need, and of laughing without astonishment. Remember your mistakes and beware of [mentioning] the mistakes of the people.

“There were four kings on the Earth: two of the believers and two of the atheists. The two of the believers were Solomon - the son of David (MGB) and Zul-Qarnayn. The name of Zul-Qarnayn was Abdullah ibn Zahhak ibn Ma’d. The two atheists were Nimrood and Bakht ul-Nasr.”

"Place Dawud Al-Raqqi in the same position with me as Al-Miqdad was with the Messenger of Allah (swt) - peace and blessings be upon him and his family."

Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) said: He who says “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, one without partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and His Messenger (la ilaha illallah wahdahu la shareekalah, wa ashhadu anna muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluh)” in the market, Allah records one million good deeds for him.

If you want something of good, then do not delay in it, for if a worshiper fasts on a hot day wanting what is with Allah, Allah will free him from the Fire; and if he gives in charity wanting the face of Allah, Allah will free him from the Fire.

Whoever sits with one who looks for faults in us, or compliments one who denies us, or connects with one who cuts us off, or cuts off from one who connects with us, or befriends one who opposes us, or opposes one who befriends us has disbelieved in Him who revealed the Seven Oft-Coupled verses and the Great Quran.

Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) said: Whoever says: “O Allah! Forgive the believing men and women, and the Muslim men and women (Allahummaghfir lil mu’minin wal mu’minat wal muslimin wal muslimat)” twenty-five times in a day, Allah will record [a reward] for every believer that has passed and every believer that will remain until the Day of Resurrection, and He will erase a sin from him, and elevate him by a degree.

“Verily, nothing resembles Allah. Indecent language is better than words which give the Creator a created body or image composed of parts. Exalted from these, the High, the Great.”

I asked Abu Ja`far al-Baqir (AS) about the claim that Allah, the Mighty and High, created Adam (AS) in His Image; hence, he said: That was a recently created image. Allah favored it, and chose it over all different images. Then He attributed it to Himself like He attributed the Ka`bah and the Sprit to Himself. Thus, He said: My House.1 And said: And when I breathed into him My Spirit.2

I heard Aba Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as) say: A man entered a mosque wherein which was the Messenger of Allah (s) and lightened (hastened) his prostration in a way that was unbefitting for a prostration. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: He pecked like the pecking of a crow. If he dies upon this, then he dies upon a religion other than the religion of Muhammad.

Abu Ja`far al-Baqir (as) said: The doers of established virtues (ma`ruf) protect themselves from those who compete in evil. Doing any established virtue is a charity. The people of established virtues in this world are the people of established virtues in the Hereafter. The people of falsehood in this world are the people of falsehood in the Hereafter. The first people to enter Paradise are the people of established virtues, and the first people to enter the Fire are the people of falsehood.

“Will you not ask me why I smiled?” The replied, “Of course, O Messenger of Allah.” He (SA) said: “I am astonished at a Muslim person that there is not a prayer, which Allah, the Mighty and High, grants him except there is good for him in the Hereafter.”

The Messenger of Allah (s) laughed one day until his molar teeth could be seen. Then, he said: Will you not ask me why I laughed? They said: Of course, O Messenger of Allah. He said: I am astonished at the affair of the Muslim person: there is nothing that Allah decides for him except that it is good for him in the end of his affair.

Gabriel (as) descended upon Adam (as) and said: O Adam! I was commanded to give you the choice between one of three things. So, choose one and leave the other two. So, Adam said to him: What are the three, Gabriel? He said: Intellect, modesty, and religion. Adam said: I have chosen intellect. So, Gabriel said to modesty and religion: Go and leave him. They said: O Gabriel! Surely, we were commanded to be with the intellect wherever it goes. He said: As you wish. Then, he ascended.

Go to that town’s jurisprudent and present your question. Act against whatever he decrees since that is the right thing to do.’”

Among that which Allah revealed to Musa b. `Imran (as) is: Be [like] a worn-out robe, pure of heart, reclusive in your house, and a lantern in the night, and you will be known to the people of heaven and hidden from the people of Earth. O Musa! Beware of being insistent, and do not be of those who walk without purpose, and do not laugh without astonishment. Weep over your mistakes, O son of `Imran.

I asked Musa bin Ja’far, peace be upon them both, about the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «Indeed, Allah orders you to deliver the trusts to their people» (4:58). So he said: This is addressing us, in particular. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, ordered every Imam from us to deliver to the Imam who is after him and to bequeath to him. It is then, furthermore, continuous in the rest of the trusts. I was, verily, told by my father, of his father, that Ali bin Hussain, peace be upon them both, said to his companions: You must deliver the trusts, for if the killer of my father, Hussain bin Ali, peace be upon them both, had entrusted me with the sword by which he killed him, I would, verily, have delivered it to him.
