And whatever is narrated from Muhammad ibn Aslam Al-Jabali, I have narrated it from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Al-Hasan ibn Matil, from Muhammad ibn Hassan Al-Razi, from Muhammad ibn Zayd Al-Razzami, the servant of Al-Riḍa, peace be upon him, from Muhammad ibn Aslam Al-Jabali. And I have also narrated it from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Saʿd ibn Abdullah, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khaṭṭab, from Muhammad ibn Aslam Al-Jabali.

“God the Almighty will punish six groups of people: 1. Arabs for racism, 2. The headmen, or chiefs of a village or town for haughtiness, 3. Rulers for oppression, 4. Jurisprudents for jealousy, 5. Businessmen for cheating, 6. Villagers for ignorance."

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Sometimes when on a journey we do not find bran; if we can rub with flour.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful. It is bad only when belongings are destroyed and the body is harmed. If body is benefited then it is not bad. I sometimes command my slave to prepare bleached flour with oil and I rub with it.’”

I asked Abu Abdullah (as) about a man who is killed while he has debt and possesses no wealth. Do his heirs have the right to pardon his killer while he has debt? Imam (as) said: "The creditors are the ones who have a claim against the killer. If his heirs pardon his killer, they become responsible for paying the debt to the creditors. If they do not pardon him, then they are not responsible."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘The bathhouse is a very good house; it reminds of fire and banishes dirt.’ ‘Umar has said, ‘A bathhouse is the worst house; it exposes private parts and violates secrets.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘People have ascribed the words of ’Amir al-Mu’minin to ‘Umar and vice versa.’”

“The niche is the Chest of the Prophet of Allah (SA) in which is the lamp. The lamp is the knowledge in the glass. The glass is the Commander of the Faithful (AS) and the knowledge of the Prophet (SA) is with him (AS).”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘How did the Messenger of Allah touch the hands of women for their pledge of allegiance? He (the Imam) said, ‘He (the Messenger of Allah) asked for a bucket in which he would make wudu. He (the Messenger of Allah) poured water in it, then immersed his right hand in water and as soon as one of them pledged allegiance he (the Messenger of Allah) asked her to immerse her hand in the water and she did so whenever he (the Messenger of Allah), O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, did and this is how he touched their hands.’” Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from certain persons of his people from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), a similar Hadith.

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about the case of a people who are on a journey. When they arrived at the place where they were required to perform their Salah (prayer) in a reduced form, they reduced their Salah (prayer). After traveling two, three, or four farsakh, one of them without whom their journey could not be done remained behind. They waited for his arrival. Without him their journey was not possible. They stayed there for many days without knowing to go forward or return. Are they required to perform their Salah (prayer) complete or reduce it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If they have traveled four farsakh they reduce their Salah (prayer), regardless, they stay there or return. If they have traveled less than four farsakh, they perform their Salah (prayer) complete, regardless, they stay there or return.”’

I said to Abī Ja’far (Imam Jawād (a.s.)): (Let’s assume there is) a person (who) decides to go to Hajj to perform his obligatory Hajj after having performed the ‘Umrah of Tamattu’ and Allāh helps him and he completes his Hajj and ‘Umrah. Then he goes to Madīnah and says Salām to the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.), then comes to you, while believing in your rights and knowing that you are Allāh’s Decisive Proof on His creation and the door which leads to Allāh, and says Salām to you. Thereafter, he goes to (the Ziyārah of) Abī ‘Abdillāh Al-Ḥusain (a.s.) and says Salām to him, and then he goes to Baghdād and says Salām to Abil Ḥasan, Mūsā ibn Ja’far (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)), and then returns to his home country. If Allāh sustains this person in the next year with enough wealth to go for Hajj again, is it better for him to repeat the Hajj as he did in the last year or to go to Khurāsān to (the Ziyārah of) your father, ‘Ali ibn Mūsā Al-Riďā (a.s.), and say Salām to him? Imam (a.s.) replied: It is better to go to Khurāsān and say Salām to Abil Ḥasan (Imam Riďā (a.s.)). He should go in the month of Rajab but this is not applicable now because there is fear for us and for you from the King and it outrages him.”
