محمد بن أبي عبد الله الكوفي

And whatever is narrated from Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil Al-Barmaki, I have narrated it from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Musa, and Muhammad ibn Ahmad Al-Sanani, and Al-Husayn ibn Ibrahim ibn Ahmad ibn Hisham Al-Maktab - may Allah (swt) be pleased with them - from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdillah Al-Kufi, from Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil Al-Barmaki.

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘If one swear to express al-Zihar then violates it, expiation becomes obligatory on him before going to bed with her, but if he has expressed the statement of al-Zihar without swearing, then expiation becomes due on him after going to bed with her.’” Mu’awiyah has said that this is not correct from thinking point of view. Hadith has come and our people have narrated that swearing can only take place ’by Allah’ and that is about which Quran has come.’”

“Verily, Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He, has forbidden Hellfire to the bodies of the monotheists.”

“I asked Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB) about the meaning of ‘the prescribed period in the following words of the Honorable the Exalted God, ‘(He wants you) to complete the prescribed period… ’’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘Thirty days.’”

Al-Husayn b. Haytham narrated to us. He said: Sulayman b. Dawud al-Minqari narrated to us from Hafs b. Ghiyath. Whenever he would narrate to us from Ja`far b. Muhammad (as), he would say: The best of Ja`fars (khayr al-ja`afir) Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) narrated to me.

Everything in this book that is narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah Al-Ansari has been transmitted by me from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Musa - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah Al-Kufi, from Muhammad ibn Isma'il Al-Barmaki, from Ja'far ibn Ahmad, from Abdullah ibn Al-Fadl, from Al-Mufaddal ibn Umar, from Jabir ibn Yazid Al-Ju'fi, from Jabir ibn Abdullah Al-Ansari.

Al-Rida (as) said: Whoever visits me despite the distance, I will meet him in three places on the Day of Resurrection so that I may deliver him from its terrors: (1) when the Book is given to his right and left hand, (2) at the Path, and (3) at the Scale.

On the Resurrection Day, I will come to save whoever visits me despite the far distance to my tomb, until I liberate him from his terrors:1- When the Letters of Deeds are handed to his right and left hands,2- At the moment of crossing the Bridge over Hell , and3- At the time when the Scale of Deeds (measuring the amount of good vs. bad deeds) is set up.”

Fasting Sha`ban and the month of Ramadan [results in] the forgiveness of Allah, even [from] the prohibited [shedding of] blood.

“Is it permissible to say that Allah is a Thing? Hence, he (AS) answered: “Yes, to the extent that it removes Him from the two extremes: annulment [ta`til] and anthropomorphism [tashbih].”

Abu `Ali al-Qassab related to me that I was in the present of Abu `Abd Allah al-Sadiq (AS), so I said: “All praise be to Allah whose Knowledge has ended.” He (AS) consequently replied: “Do not say that for, verily, there is no end to His Knowledge.”

Everything in this book that is narrated about Prophet Sulayman ibn Dawud (as) concerning the meaning of Allah (swt), the Almighty and Glorious, saying "So he began striking [their] legs and necks" has been transmitted by me from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Musa - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah Al-Kufi, from Musa ibn Imran Al-Nakha'i, from his uncle Al-Husayn ibn Yazid Al-Nawfali, from Ali ibn Salim, from his father, from Ja'far ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (peace be upon them both).

Jibra’eel descended unto the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, and said: O Muhammed, order you companions to ‘ajj and thajj. ‘Ajj is to raise the voices during declaring gratification (to Allah), and thajj is to slaughter the cattle.

“On the Day when there shall be a severe affliction.” He (AS) replied: “A veil of light will be revealed. At that time, the Believes shall prostrate themselves, while the backbones of hypocrites will be twisted tightly preventing them from prostrating.”

They should be warned from the shores from rivers, leading roads, under fruitful trees and the spots of curse. It was said to him: And what are the spots of curse? He said: The doors of houses.

Everything in this book that is narrated from Abd Al-Azim ibn Abdullah Al-Hasani has been transmitted by me from Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Al-Mutawakkil - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Ali ibn Al-Husayn Al-Sadabadi, from Ahmad ibn Abi Abdullah Al-Barqi, from Abd Al-Azim ibn Abdullah Al-Hasani, who was regarded as trustworthy and praiseworthy (mardiyyan). I have also narrated it from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Musa - may Allah (swt) have mercy on him - from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah Al-Kufi, from Sahl ibn Ziyad Al-Adami, from Abd Al-Azim.

I asked Abu Abd Allah Ja`far al-Sadiq (as) about the Word of Allah, the Mighty and High: And they shall continue to differ, except those on whom your Lord has mercy; and for this did He create them. He replied, “He created them to do what makes them deserve His Mercy so that He may have mercy on them.”

“Whoever recites the chapter: Say: He, Allah is One, once, it is as if he has recited one third of the Qur`an, one third of the Torah, one third of the Bible, and one third of the Psalms (of David).”

I wrote to Abi Muhammad al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. Musa b. Ja`far b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib (as): “Why did Allah obligate fasting?” So, he answered in his response: “So that the rich may feel hunger and give to the poor.”

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever would be gladdened by Allah gathering all goodness for him should align with `Ali after me; and align with his supporters and oppose his enemies.
