"Do not withhold lending leavened dough and bread, for withholding them causes poverty."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘The owner of merchandise is more rightful to set up the price for his merchandise.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one starts a certain business, if he does not find any profit in it, he then must change it for another kind of business.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Receiving payment for carcasses, dogs, wine, indecent (sexual) relation and a bribe to issue a judgment and payment for foretelling is Suht (unlawful and filthy).”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘ Al-Shuf ’ (one’s rights of pre-emption) does not apply to ship, canal or road.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Generosity is of profits.’ The Messenger of Allah said it to a man who had asked for good advice and who had certain merchandise that he wanted to sell.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited mixing of milk with water to sell.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘It is not unlawful if a man takes dirhams in Makkah and writes for them (his people) notes to pay them in al-Kufah.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin did not like partnership with Jews, Christians, al-Majusiy, unless it was a hand in hand business deal in the presence of the Muslim.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, once passed by a man who sold clothes. The man was tall and the cloth was short. He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Sit down; it is more useful for your commodity.”’

"It is not permissible until he first takes possession of it from him."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘One who buys and sells must not engage in five things; otherwise, one must not engage in business of buying and selling: One must stay away from Riba’, swearing, hiding defects in the merchandise, admiring the merchandise when selling and belittling it when buying.’”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’At a time when food is abundantly available, keeping food for forty days is considered hoarding, but at the time of shortages of food holding back food supplies for three days is considered hoarding. After forty days at a time when food is abundant a hoarder is condemned and at the time of scarcity of food after three days the hoarder is condemned.’”

Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family) said: "There is no preemption (shufah) in a ship, nor in a river, nor in a road, nor in a mill, nor in a bathhouse."

"Hoarding during times of abundance is permitted for forty days, and during hardship and distress, for three days. Anything beyond forty days in times of abundance makes its owner accursed, and anything beyond three days in times of difficulty makes its owner accursed."

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that once two people brought their dispute before ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.). One of them had purchased a camel from the other one, and the seller had excluded the head and the skin. The buyer then decided to sell it. He (the Imam) said to the buyer, ‘His share in the camel is proportionate to the head and skin.’”

“Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.), has said, ‘Al-Shuf’ (one’s rights of pre-emption) does not apply in the case of the Jew and the Christian.‘ And he said, ‘It only applies to a partner who has not concluded the partnership.’ He (the Imam) has said, that ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) has said, ‘The Executor of the will for an orphan is like his father who applies al-Shuf’ if it is in his interest.’ And he (the Imam) said that al-Shuf’ also applies in favor of an absent person.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited earning of slave-girls because if they cannot find work, they fornicate, except for a slave-girl who knows a skill and she is better than a slave-boy who due to not knowing any skills, when unable to find work steals.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, granted permission for the sale of al-‘Ara’ya ’ by estimating it as dates. Al-‘Ara’ya’ is a palm tree that belongs to someone but it is in other person’s house, in this case it is permissible to sell it by estimation and it is not permissible in other things.’”

Hoarding (which is bad) implies hoarding any of six items: wheat; barley; dates; raisins; cooking fat and oil.”
