فضيل بن يسار

8. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “One who usurps the property of his brother by doing injustice to him, he will come on the Day of Judgment eating the fire of Hell.”

20-5 (The compiler of the book narrated) that his father - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashim quoted his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr, on the authority of Hammad ibn Uthman, on the authority of Al-Fuzayl ibn Yasar, “On the 21st and 23rd nights of the month of Ramazan, Abi Ja’far al-Baqir (MGB) said supplications from the beginning of the night until midnight, and then started to pray from midnight.”

Hadith.5301 - Abu Abdullah Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) was asked about a forearm (the arm below the elbow) that was struck and resulted in the fracture of the wrist bone. Imam (as) replied: If the hand becomes paralyzed or all the fingers of the hand become immobile due to the injury, then two-thirds of the blood money (diyyah) of the entire hand is applicable. Imam (as) further stated: If only some of the fingers become paralyzed while others remain functional, then for each finger that becomes paralyzed, two-thirds of its individual diyyah is applicable. The same ruling applies to the leg and foot if the toes of the foot become paralyzed.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: There is a grave near you to which no anguished person goes without Allāh removing his anguish and fulfilling his requests.

he heard abu ‘Abdallah say the following to some of the companions of Qays al-Masir. “Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, discipline and education His Messenger. He then made his discipline and education to be the best. When his discipline and education was complete He said, “O Muhammad, you certainly possess a great degree of moral discipline and education. (64:4). Then He made him in charge of the affairs of the religion and the nation (Muslim) so he would manage the social matters of the His servants with wisdom. Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, said, “. .what the Messenger (of Allah) you, you must take (obey) and what he prohibits you, you must desist from. .” (59:7) The Messenger of Allah was protected, successful and supported by the Holy Spirit. He (the Messenger of Allah) does not slip, make a mistake in any of the matters of the management of the social matters of the creatures. He is educated with the education of Allah. Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, commanded to perform the prayer in two and two Rak‘at form totalling ten Rak‘ats. The Messenger of Allah added two more Rak‘ats to each prayer and only one Rak‘at to the Maghrib prayer (the prayer at sun set). Such additions became just as the obligatory ones and it is not permissible to disregard them. They are obligatory at home and on a journey. Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, granted him permission in all of it. Thus, the obligatory prayers became seventeen Rak‘ats. The Messenger of Allah then setup the tradition of optional prayers totaling thirty four Rak‘ats which is double the number of the optional prayers. Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, granted him permission for this. All the optional and obligatory prayers total fifty one Rak‘ats of which there is two Rak‘ats in a sitting position after (al-‘atma) ‘Isha prayer which is counted as one Rak‘at in place of Witr. Allah made fasting of the month of Ramadan obligatory which comes only once in a year. The Messenger of Allah set up the tradition of fasting in the month of Sha‘ban and three days fasting of every month and the number of days in it totals twice as much as the obligatory fast. Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, granted him permission for all of this. Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, made just wine unlawful to consume. The Messenger of Allah pronounced all intoxicants drinks unlawful. Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, granted him permission in this case also. The Messenger of Allah pronounced certain things as permissible and pronounced other things as detestable but did not declare them prohibited as unlawful. He only pronounced them prohibited in a permissible prohibition and detestable. He then spoke of such prohibitions as permissible but then such permissible matters became obligatory for the servants (of Allah) like the obligation of abiding by what is prohibited and determined. The Messenger of Allah did not grant permission in the matters that were prohibited as unlawful (to violate) prohibitions or what he pronounced as an order to follow as an obligation and binding. A great deal of the intoxicants drinks he pronounced as unlawful to consume and he did not grant permission to any one to consume them. The Messenger of Allah did not grant permission to anyone to further shorten the prayers tha consisted of two Rak‘ats that were added to what Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, had made obligatory. In fact, He made them binding and necessary like an obligation. He did not grant permission to anyone in this matter except those on a journey. No one has the right to give permission in such issues until the Messenger of Allah grants permission. Thus, the order of the Messenger of Allah concord the orders of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High. The prohibitions of the Messenger of Allah concord the prohibition of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High. It has become obligatory for the servants (of Allah) to submit to his commands as it is obligatory for them to submit to the command of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High.”

“I heard abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) say, ‘One who would die without having an Imam his death would like the death of ignorance. One who would die and would know who his Imam is then the coming of this matter (the rise of al-Mahdi with Divine Authority) earlier or later will not affect him at all. One who would knowing who his Imam is he would be like the one present with Al-Qa’im in his tents.”

“He (the Imam) (a.s.) has said, ‘Visiting the grave of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, the graves of the martyrs and the grave of Imam al-Husayn (a.s.), is equal to performing al-Hajj along with the Messenger of Allah.”

“Once I went to see Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) in his illness that he endured and nothing was left of him except his head (due to weakness). The Imam said, I very often O Fudayl, say, ‘A man to whom Allah grants belief in this cause (our Divine Authority) will have no trouble even if he were to live on a mountain until the coming of his death. O Fudayl ibn Yasar, people took to the right and left, but our Shi’a (followers) and we found guidance in the right path. O Fudayl ibn Yasar, for a believer it (belief) is better than his having all that is between the East and West. It (belief) is better for him even if he is cut in pieces. O Fudayl ibn Yasar, Allah does not do anything to believers except what is best for them. O Fudayl ibn Yasar, had the world been worth the wing of a fly, Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, would not have allowed His enemies to drink even a drop of water from it. O Fudayl ibn Yasar, whoever finds one goal (the true belief) Allah suffices him in all other goals (affairs), however, one who has a goal in every valley Allah will be concerned the least where he may perish.’”

“Once Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) said to me, ‘O Fudayl, the truthfulness of a truthful person is first verified by Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy. He knows that he is truthful. Then his own soul confirms; it knows his truthfulness.’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘Kindred relation will hold to the Throne (of the Lord) on the Day of Judgment and say, “O Lord, establish good relations with those who establish me and cut off good relations with those who cut me off.’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘Restraining from worldly matters (sins) is the most intense form of worship.’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘The amount of mahr (dower) is what people agree upon which can be little or a great deal, that is mahr (dower).”’

He wills, He intends, He dislikes, and He is displeased. He wills that nothing should exist without His Knowledge, and He intends similar to that. He dislikes it to be said of Him that `He is the third of the three,’ and He is displeased with His Servant’s’ disbelief.

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘When you perform Salah (prayer) for a believing person, pray for him and strive in your appeal in favor of the deceased person. If he is of those who keep matters on hold (of waqifiy belief) or of weak understanding say, ‘Takbir (Allah is great beyond description) and, O Lord, forgive those who have repented, followed your path and protect them against the suffering of the hell fire.’”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I have quit doing business and have withdrawn thereof.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Why is that, are you helpless? This is how your wealth goes away. You must not quit doing business. You must continue to seek favors from Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once asked, ‘What do you do?’ I replied, ‘I am not doing anything today.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘This is how your wealth goes away and it becomes difficult for you.’”

Fuzayl ibn Yasar told Imam Sadiq (a.s): “A child is born who has no sign of being a boy or a girl.” Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “The Imam should cast a lot by writing Abdullah (a boy's name meaning servant of God) on one piece of paper and Umatullah (a girl's name) on another piece of paper and say: “O' Lord! There is no god but You. You are aware of what is clear and what is hidden. You will judge between your servants on Resurrection Day regarding their differences. Please clarify the condition of this child for us so that we may know what share of inheritance that You have made obligatory in Your Book to give it.” Then the Imam should place these two pieces of paper among various other names. Then they should cast lot and give the child's inheritance according to the gender of whichever name that is drawn.”

I asked Abu `Abd Allah al-Sadiq (AS) about the Word of Allah, the Mighty and High: His knowledge extends over the heaves and the earth.’ Consequently, he (AS) replied, “O Fudayl! The heavens and the earth and everything between them, are in the Throne.”

"If a woman performs the Tawaf al-Nisa and completes more than half of it but then begins menstruating, she may depart if she wishes."

“Soundness of religion and good health is better than property. Property is a beauty of the worldly beauties and it is a good thing.” Muhammad ibn Isma’il has narrated from Fadl ibn Shadhan from Hammad from Rib’i from al-Fudayl from abu Ja’far (a.s.) a similar Hadith.
