“The Imamate will never come together in two brothers after Hasan and Husain (a.s). It will continue in his (Husain’s) progeny one generation after another.”

“The Imam does not die until he learns who the succeeding Imam is so he would deliver his will to him.”

“One who is in the state of Ihram must not answer anyone who calls him with the word ‘Labbayka’ until his Ihram is complete.“ I then asked, “How must he say it?“ He (the Imam) said, “He can say, ‘O Sa‘d.”

“I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Which kind of Jihad is more virtuous?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is the one in which the legs of one’s horse are cut off and his own blood is spilled for the cause of Allah.’”

I said to Abi Abdillah عليه السلام: I hear the narration from you – am I allowed to add or decrease (some words to/from it)? he said: if you intend to convey the same meaning then there is no harm.

“A believing servant (of Allah) is considered a person of good deeds as long as he does not speak. When he speaks he is considered a person of good deeds or of evil deeds.”

“I once asked one of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ’Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about the case of a man who gave a certain amount of assets to another man for Mudarabah (profit sharing) and prohibited him from taking it out with him, but he went out. He (the Imam) said, ‘He is held responsible for the assets and the profit is for both.’”

“Whoever associates with an Imam whose Imamah is from Allah, while his Imamah not from Allah, then he is associating partners with Allah.”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh will forgive all of the past and future sins of those who go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) knowing his rights.

“We performed Tawaf al-Nisa’ around the House but forgot the two Rak‘at Salat (prayer). When we arrived in Mina’, we remembered the two Rak‘at Salat (prayer). We then went to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and asked him about it. He (the Imam) said, ‘You must perform them in Mina’.’”

Everything in this book that is narrated from Ubayd ibn Zurarah has been transmitted by me from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Sa'd ibn Abdullah, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khattab, from Al-Hakam ibn Miskin Al-Thaqafi, from Ubayd ibn Zurarah ibn A'yun. He was known to have a squint (cross-eyed).

And whatever is narrated from Imran Al-Halabi, I have narrated it from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Sad ibn Abdullah, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khattab, from Jafar ibn Bashir, from Hammad ibn Uthman, from Imran Al-Halabi, whose kunyah is Abu Al-Fadl.

And whatever is narrated from Al-Husayn ibn Salim, I have narrated it from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Sa'd ibn Abdullah, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khattab, from Abdullah ibn Jiblah, from Abu Abdullah Al-Khurasani, from Al-Husayn ibn Salim.

And whatever is narrated from Abd Al-Ṣamad ibn Bashir, I have narrated it from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Al-Hasan ibn Matil Al-Daqqaq, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khaṭṭab, from Jafar ibn Bashir, from Abd Al-Ṣamad ibn Bashir Al-Kufi.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Those who go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) knowing his rights will be registered among those (who will be) in A’lā ‘Illīyyīn.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Zakat cannot be given to five kinds of people: father, mother, children, slaves, and one’s wife, because they are one’s dependents for whom one must provide sustenance.’”

"I wrote to Abu al-Hasan (al-Kadhim) (as) with a supplication containing, 'Praise be to God to the extent of His knowledge', so he wrote back to me saying: Do not say 'the extent of His knowledge,' for His knowledge has no end. Rather, say, 'the extent of His pleasure.'"

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I get up in the end of the night and I fear (of the coming of dawn before completing).’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Recite just al-Fatihah, and make it faster and faster.’”

It is pardoning.

“I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about a man for al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous) who arrives but does not have any animal for offering with him; if he can fast before the time to slaughter the offering. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must wait until the day of al-Nahr (slaughtering the offering, 10th of Dhu al- Hajjah); and if he did not find any animal for offering, then he is of ‘those who cannot find’ (2:196) an animal for offering.’” (Fatwa best explains Hadith 3-16 of this Chapter)
