I heard Abal Ḥasan (Imam Riďā (a.s.)) say: Allāh will register the performance of a purified Hajj for those who go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.).

I asked Abal Ḥasan (Imam Riďā (a.s.)) about the reward for going to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.). Imam (a.s.) said, “It is equal to performing an ‘Umrah.”

Allāh will cure anyone who has an illness if he starts treating himself using the clay of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) except in the case of a deathly illness.

Abul Ḥasan the First (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) said: Allāh will forgive all of the past and future sins of those who go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) knowing his rights.

I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: Make the first thing which is rubbed on the palate of your (newborn) babies the clay of (the grave of) Ḥusain (a.s.), for verily it is protection.

I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: Allāh will forgive all of the past and future sins of those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) knowing his rights and believing in his Imamate.

Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: Verily (the reward for going to) the Ziyārah of the grave of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) is equal to performing a purified Hajj with the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.).

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Verily the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) is the best of deeds.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh has dedicated an angel (named Mansūr) along with four thousand angels to Ḥusain (a.s.). They cry over him and seek forgiveness for those who go to his Ziyārah and pray for them.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Verily the Zā`ir of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) is the Zā`ir of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.).

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) asked me, “O Shihāb! How many times have you performed Hajj?” I replied, “Nineteen times.” Imam (a.s.) said, “Complete the twentieth time so that they (these twenty Hajj) are registered as the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) for you.”

I wrote a letter to the Righteous Slave (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) saying, “If our Master deems it appropriate to inform me, (I would like to know) about the best rewards for (going to) the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) and also if this reward is equal to the reward of performing Hajj for those who have missed (the opportunity to go to) Hajj.” Imam (a.s.) wrote back, “It is equal to Hajj for those who have missed (the opportunity to go to) Hajj.”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) asked me, “O Um Sa’īd! Do you go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.)?” I replied, “Yes.” Imam (a.s.) said, “Go to his Ziyārah, for verily going to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) is WĀJIB (mandatory) on both men and women.”

I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: On the Day of ‘Arafah, Allāh looks toward the Zuwwār of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) and says, “Return with your past sins forgiven.” (Moreover) no sins will be registered for them for up to seventy days after they return.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: O Fuďayl! How negligent you people are!!! You do not go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.)!!! Do you not know that there are four thousand angels who are disheveled and covered with dust who continuously cry over Ḥusain (a.s.) (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment?

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: If a believer, who suffers from an illness and who believes in the rights of Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Ḥusain (a.s.)) and believes in his sanctity and divine authority, uses some of the clay of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.), he will be treated and cured by it even if the clay is collected from a distance of one mile away (from the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.)).

Abul Ḥasan, Mūsā ibn Ja’far (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) said: The minimum reward for those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) by the shores of the Euphrates (River), while knowing his rights and believing in his sanctity and Wilāyah, is that all of their past and future sins will be forgiven.

I heard Abal Ḥasan the First (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) say: Those who cannot come to our Ziyārah should go to the Ziyārah of our righteous followers so that the reward for coming to our Ziyārah is registered for them. And those who cannot connect with us (directly) should connect with our righteous followers so that the reward for connecting with us is registered for them.

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) about the location of the grave of the Commander of the Believers (a.s.). He described that it was located in the land of the hardened sands. I went to the described location and established prayers there. The following year, I went back to the Imam (a.s.) and informed him that I had gone to the described location and had prayed there. He told me that I had found the correct location. For twenty years thereafter, I used to go to that described location every year and establish prayers next to it.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Those who go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) knowing his rights will be forgiven for all of their past and future sins. The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muḥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Qurashi, from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Muḥammad ibn Ismā’īl, from Sāliḥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).
