Imam Sajjad (a.s) said: “If someone swears at you on your right side, and then goes to your left side and apologizes, accept his apology.”

“Give seventy Dinars to Hassan ibn Ali ibn Ali ibn al-Hussein known as Aftaes, and so on.” Then she asked him: “Will you also give to one who attempted to attack you with a knife?” He said: “Have you not read the Quran?” She said: “Yes.” He said: “Have you not read the Almighty God's statement: “Those who join together those things which God hath commanded to be joined, hold their Lord in awe, and fear the terrible reckoning.” [The Holy Quran: Ra'd 13:21]

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Excellent moral behavior melts down sins just as the sun melts down hoarfrost.’”

“Be patient against the enemies (jealous) of bounties. You cannot seek a compensation from one who disobeys Allah in your case, more meritorious and better than obeying Allah in his case (exercise patience against his jealousy).”

‘My (asws) father grabbed my (asws) hand then said: ‘O my (asws) son (asws), my (asws) father (asws) Muhammad Bin Ali (asws) grabbed my (asws) hand just as I (asws) have grabbed your (asws) hand, and said: ‘My (asws) father (asws) Ali (asws) Bin Al-Husayn (asws) grabbed my (asws) hand and said: ‘My (asws) son (asws), do good to everyone who seeks it from you (asws), so if he was deserving of it then it has found its place, and if he was not deserving of it, then you (asws) were deserving of it, and if a man insults you from your (asws) right, then turn to your (asws) left. So if he offers his excuse for it, accept his excuse’.

“O Hafs, seventy sins of an ignorant person may be forgiven before only one sin of a learned person is forgiven.”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, Tf one washes a dead body and keeps the trust, Allah grants him forgiveness.’ He was asked, ‘What is the trust?’ The Imam replied, ‘Does not make public whatever he sees.’”

It is pardoning.

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘There are three qualities with which Allah increases the respect of a Muslim: To be lenient to those who do injustice to him, to give to those who deprive him and to establish relations with those who neglect him.’”

“Bear patience against the enemies of the bounties (Jealous people). You cannot compensate (your loss) from one who has disobeyed Allah in your case, in a more proper way than obeying Allah in his case.”

‘‘When two believing people meet and shake hands Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, turns His face (direction, aspect) to them and sins began to fall from them like leaves fall from trees.’”

Al-Rida, peace be upon him, said with regards to the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «So, overlook (in the act of) the beautiful overlooking.» (15:85) He said: To pardon without gentle reproach.

I heard Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) say: Surely, our chivalry – the Ahl al-Bayt – is the forgiveness of those who wrong us.

I heard `Abd a-Razzaq say: I saw a handmaid of `Ali b. al-Husayn (as) pouring water over him whilst he was making ablution for prayer. The pitcher fell from the hand of the handmaid onto his face, scraping him. `Ali b. al-Husayn raised his head to her. The handmaid said: Surely, Allah says, “and those who restrain their anger” (3:134). So, he said to her: I have restrained my anger. She said: “and those who pardon the people” (3:134). He said: Allah has forgiven you. She said: “Allah loves the doers of good” (3:134). He said: Go, for you are free.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Three things are of the noble qualities of this world and of the next world: to forgive those who do injustice to you, to establish relations with those who abandon you and to exercise forbearance when you are ignored.”’

“Imam Zayn al-Abedin (a.s) took the hands of his son (being my grandfather) and said: O' my son! Do whatever good deeds anyone asks you to do. If he is a good man, a good deed has been done. And if he is not, at least you have performed your duty. If a man swears at you, and then apologizes, accept his apologies.”

Ali ibn Sweed Madani asked Imam Kazim (a.s) about humbleness. He asked what deeds would constitute humbleness. Imam Kazim (a.s) said: “There are various degrees of humbleness. Some of them include to know yourself and peacefully accept your own position; to treat others as you like them to treat you; to be kind to others when others are not kind to you; to restrain your anger; and to forgive the people. God loves those who do good deeds.”

Ali bin Abi Talib, Allah’s blessings be upon him, said on the Day of Jamal to Aisha: How have you seen the making of Allah to you, O Humaira? She said to him: You have ruled (by winning), so pardon. It means: Be generous.

Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB), “What is the first gift that is given to a believer?” The Imam (MGB) replied, “The forgiveness of those who follow his corpse in his funeral procession.”

Whoever washes a dead believer and fulfills his trust, he is forgiven. It was said: How does he fulfill his trust? He said: He does not inform others about what he saw.
