“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘There is blessing in opposing (unlawful desires) of women.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Wickedness and evil behavior destroys and spoils good deeds just as vinegar spoils honey.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one travels in the month of Ramadan he must stop fasting; but if he fasts because of ignorance, he is not required to complete its Qada’ (compensatory fast).”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who eats leaning backward. Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘No, one must not lean forward also.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘He (the husband) can send a message to his wife saying, ‘You must commence your waiting period because so and so has departed you.’ “Ibn Sama‘ah has said that the meaning of the words of the messenger, ‘You must commence your waiting period because so and so has departed you,’ is that he has divorced you because there is no departing without divorce. “Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from ibn Sama‘ah from Ali ibn al-Hassan al-T’atriy who has said that what is unanimously agreed upon to say for divorce is to say, ‘Anti Taliq ’ (you are let go, divorced) or ’’I‘tadi’ (you must commence your waiting period). He has mentioned that he asked Muhammad ibn Hamzah about how to arrange witnesses for his word, T’tadi’ (you must commence your waiting period). He said that one must say, ‘Bear witness 7 ‘tadi’ (commence waiting period).’ Ibn Sama‘ah has said, ‘Muhammad ibn abu Hamzah has made a mistake in saying, ‘Bear witness ‘ ‘1‘tadi’ (commence waiting period).’ Al-Hassan ibn Sama‘ah has said that it is proper to come with witnesses to her place or take her to the witnesses to their homes and this is not possible to happen. Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, does not make it obligatory on His slaves. Al-Hassan has said, ‘Divorce is nothing other than what Bukayr ibn ‘A‘yan has narrated that one must say to her when she is clean of Hayd (menses) without sexual intercourse ‘Anti Taliq ’ (you are let go) or ‘ 7 ‘tadi’ (commence waiting period) in the presence of two witnesses. All other expressions are invalid.’”

I heard Abu Abdullah Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) say: "The one who neglects Zakat after it has become obligatory upon him is like the one who withholds it after it has become due."

Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, said: A man’s seek to cause harmony in his land is from (the trait of) manliness.

I heard Abā Ja’far the Second (Imam Jawād (a.s.)) say: Those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of my father (a.s.) will be rewarded with Paradise.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that gifts from al-Hajj are out of the expenses of al-Hajj.”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who earns a certain amount of wealth. He (the Imam) said, ‘He does not pay its Zakat until one year passes.’”

“When you go to bed, remember what you ate during the day that was bad, and what you have done during the day, and remember your resurrection.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Dry sawiq removes whiteness (albinism).”’

“Proud people will be farthest from Allah on the Day of Judgment.”

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Qunut (supplication after recitation) in al-Witr is asking for forgiveness and in obligatory Salah (prayer) it is to ask for your wishes.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘A reformer (a peace maker) is not a liar.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who divorces his wife and leaves until she becomes stranger to him, then marries her. He (the Imam) said, ‘She can live with him just as she did with marriage.’ I then said, ‘Hadith of Rifa‘ah says, “If there is a husband in between.’” Then ‘Abd Allah said to me, ‘This is husband and it is what Allah has granted of opinion. Whenever he divorces once and then she becomes stranger to him, then another man marries her then her husband divorces, then she marries the first husband, she can live with him accepted as she was.’ I then asked ‘Abd Allah, ‘According to whose Hadith is this?’ He replied, ‘It is what Allah has granted.’ Mu‘awiyah ibn Hukaym has said that our people have narrated from Rifa‘ah ibn Musa that husband destroys the first divorce and if he marries her she lives with him accepted.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), then said, ‘Three divorces destroy but not one and two.’ Hadith of Rifa‘ah from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), is the one on the basis of which ibn Bukayr has argued.’”

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “May I sacrifice myself for you! What is the minimum reward for those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “O ‘Abdallāh! Verily the minimum (reward) for them is that Allāh will protect them and their possessions until they return to their families, and on the Day of Judgment, Allāh (Himself) will be their protector.”

'A man bequeathed thirty dinars to the descendants of Sayyidah Fatimah {s.a}, peace be upon her. The man brought the money to Abu Abdullah (as), who said: "Give it to such-and-such an elder from the descendants of Sayyidah Fatimah {s.a}, peace be upon her," and that man was poor and struggling to provide for his family. The man responded: "But the deceased specifically bequeathed it to the descendants of Sayyidah Fatimah {s.a}." Abu Abdullah (as) replied: "It will not have the same impact on the descendants of Sayyidah Fatimah {s.a} in general, but it will have a meaningful impact on this man, for he has a family to support."

“A man made a will about thirty dinars for the children of Fatimah, ‘Alayha al-Salam. Another man brought it to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), who told him to give it to so and so old man of the descendents of Fatimah, ‘Alayha al-Salam, who has a family to feed and is poor. The man said, ‘The man has a will for the children of Fatimah.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said, ‘It will not be appropriate by giving to the children of Fatimah, ‘Alayha al-Salam. It will be appropriate to give it to this man who has a family to feed.’”

Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, looked at a man who had come out of the bath and whose hands were soaked. Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, then said to him: Does it rejoice you if Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, had created your hands like this? He said: No, by Allah. I only did that because it reached me of you that: «The one who enters the bath, let the effects lf it be visible on him» meaning henna. So he said: It is not as you think. The meaning of that is only: if one of you comes out of the bath and is safe, let him pray two rak’as [1] out of thankfulness.
