“Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) said, 'Lime is a cleansing (agent).'”

34 – Sulaym b. Qays al-Hilālī. No one but Abān b. Abī ʿAyyash has narrated from him. And in his book there are notorious unrecognized (things). And I do not deem it to be but fabricated.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Read the Holy Quran with clarity; it is Arabic.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whenever you pray and plead before Allah for help, consider that what you have asked for has arrived at the door.’”

1 – Abān b. Abī ʿAyyāsh, Abī ʿAyyāsh’s name is Fayrūz. A tābiʿī, he narrated from Anas b. Mālik. And he narrated from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn عليهما السلام . Weak, he is not to be turned to. Our companions ascribe to him the fabrication of the book of Sulaym b. Qays.

“It is incumbent on a believer not to die without having learnt the Qur’an or being in the process of learning it.”

“Once I asked Imam abu al-Hassan al-Rida (a.s.), about capability. The Imam said, ‘A servant (of Allah) has the capability if four things exist. That he is free and on his own, that he is physically well and of sound limbs and that for him there is reason and means from Allah.’ I asked, ‘May Allah keep my soul in the service for your cause, please explain it to me.’ The Imam said, ‘Being free and on one’s own, physically well and of sound limbs means that one is willing to commit adultery but does not find a female party and then he finds her. He may now protect his soul and stay away from sin just as Joseph (peace be upon him) did or allow his desire to act and commit adultery and in this case he is called an adulterer. He has not obeyed Allah in coercion and disobeyed Him with defeat.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whenever you pray and plead before Allah for help, do it whole-heartedly and consider that what you have asked for has arrived at the door.’”

Blessed be he who possesses a virtuous heart, obeys one who guides him, keeps away from one who takes him to ruin, catches the path of safety with the help of him who provides him light (of guidance) and by obeying the leader who commands him, hastens towards guidance before its doors are closed, gets open the door of repentance and removes the (stain of) sins. He has certainly been put on the right path and guided towards the straight road.

The Prophet of Allāh — peace and blessing of Allāh be upon him and his descendants — said: “The belief of a person cannot be firm unless his heart is firm, and his heart cannot be firm unless his tongue is firm.” So whoever of you can manage to meet Allāh, the Sublime, in such a position that his hands are unsmeared with the blood of Muslims and their property and his tongue is safe from exposing them, he should do so.

Amr bin Hamama Doosi He is also a long lived human being, who lived for 400 years. Following is his own composition: I have become aged and my age is so prolonged as if I have been stung by snake that is not yet dead. Thus death did not destroy me and I was not destroyed? But years of spring and summer passed on me. I have definitely left behind three hundred years and I hope to live for four hundred years.

“Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘Except those who would come to Allah with safe and protected hearts. . . .’ (26:89) The Imam said, ‘A safe and protected heart is such a heart that goes in the presence of his Lord while there is nothing in it besides his Lord. He then said that every heart in which there is polytheism or doubt, such a heart is a failing heart. They (pious people) have chosen to restrict themselves from worldly matters so that their hearts are reserved for the matters of the life hereafter only.’”

“A servant is capable when he possesses four characteristics: his route is free from trouble, his body is healthy, he has all his limbs, and has a means of sustenance provided to him by Allah, the Mighty and High.” I asked, “May I be your ransom! Explain these reasons for me.” He explained, In order to be capable, a servant needs to have a route free from trouble. He needs to have a healthy body. And he needs to have all his limbs. He may intend to fornicate, but at first he does not find a woman then he finds one. Then, either he would be protected by Allah and he would stop from it as Yusuf (AS) did; or Allah would abandon him between him and his intentions. Thus, he would fornicate and would be labeled a fornicator. He has not obeyed Allah from compulsion, and did not disobey because he was coerced.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, applied al-Athmad (antimony) to his eyes before going to bed, once in each eye. 5 ”

This copy is the will of Amirul Momineen (a.s) to Imam Hasan Mujtaba (a.s) and it is also mentioned in Kitab Sulaym Ibn Qays Hilali, which he read out to Aban and Aban also said: I read out this will to Ali bin Husain (a.s) and he (a.s) said: Sulaym has said the truth, may Allah have mercy on him. [Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) said:] Sulaym has said: When Amirul Momineen (a.s) made a bequest to his son, Imam Hasan (a.s), I witnessed it. The Imam made Husain (a.s), Muhammad bin Hanfiyyah, all his sons and elders of Shia and his Ahle Bayt witness this bequest and in his address to Imam Hasan (a.s), he said: My son, the Messenger of Allah (s) ordered me to make a will in your favor and transfer my books and weapons to you. After that he glanced at Imam Hasan (a.s) and said: My son, you are my successor and inheritor of my blood; if you like you have the discretion to forgive my killer; and if you like you can put him to death; but retaliate one hit only with a single hit and don’t fall into sin. Thus he mentioned the rest of the will till the end. When the will of the Imam ended, he said: May Almighty Allah protect you and guard the practice of your Prophet among you. I entrust you to Almighty Allah about you and invoke His peace and blessings for you. After that the Imam continued: ‘There is no god, except Allah,’ till he passed on the 23rd night of Ramadhan, Friday eve in the 40th year A.H. due the fatal injury that he had received on the 21st of Ramadhan.

The Prophet (s.a.a.w.) said: Those who come to my Ziyārah during my life or after my death will be my neighbours on the Day of Judgment.

“Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, cleansed us, granted us protection against sins, made us to bear witness to the activities of His creatures and granted us Divine authority on earth. He made us to be with the holy Quran and the Holy Quran to be with us. We do not depart the Holy Quran and the Holy Quran does not depart us.”

As for your enquiry about my opinion to fight till I die, I am in favour of fighting those who regard fighting lawful. The crowd of men around me does not give me strength nor does their dispersal from me cause any loneliness. Surely, do not consider the son of your father weak or afraid, even though all people have forsaken him, bow down submissively before injustice or hand over his reins into the hand of the puller, or allow his back to be used by the rider to sit upon. But he is as the man of Banū Salīm has said:

“O Ali, soon Quraish would unite against you and they would come together to oppress and defeat you; thus if you have supporters, you should do Jihad against them and if you don’t have any supporters, you must refrain from violence and keep yourself secure; since martyrdom would come to you later.”
