“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), if I can delay fasting of three days of every month to fast in winter. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

"Whoever fasts during Sha‘ban, it will purify him from every slip, stain, and impulsive act." Abu Hamzah said: "I asked Abu Ja‘far (as): 'What is the stain (al-wasmah)?' Imam (as) said: 'An oath made for disobedience or a vow, for there is no vow in disobedience.' I asked: 'What is the impulsive act (al-badirah)?' Imam (as) said: 'An oath made in anger, and its repentance is to feel regret for it.'"

Hadith.1768 - Hamza ibn Muhammad wrote to Abu Muhammad (as) asking: "Why did Allah (swt) make fasting obligatory?" The response came (from Imam (as)): "So that the rich may feel the pain of hunger and thus show generosity to the poor."

“I asked the Imam as to what he meant by that defect.” Imam (a.s.) replied, “It is the oath of Allah’s disobedience.” I asked, “What is the meaning of that anger?” He replied, “Taking an oath out of anger and then repenting it.”

If one fasts during the month of Sha’ban, it will be a cleansing for him, from all zallah (a slip), wasmah and badirah.’” I (abu Hamzah) then asked, ‘What is wasmah?’ He replied, ‘It is swearing and a vow for unlawful cause.’ I asked, ‘What is badirah?’ He replied, ‘It is swearing when one is angry; repenting for it is regretting.’”

The one who fasts (the month of) Sha’ban will have a purification from every unintentional mistake, disgrace and gesture. Abu Hamza said: Then I said to Abu Ja’far, peace be upon him: What is the disgrace? He said: The right hand (in promise) in an act of disobedience; there is no oath (valid) in an act of disobedience. I said: Then what is the gesture? He said: The right hand (in promise) during anger; the repentance from it is to regret upon it.

“One of the signs that precedes the appearance of al-Mahdi will be the eclipse of the sun in the middle of Ramadan.”

"You should say Takbir in the night of al-Fitr and in the morning of al-Fitr, just as you say Takbir during the tenth (day of the month of Dhu al-Hajjah).”

“I once wrote to abu Muhammad (a.s.), and asked, ‘Why has Allah made fasting obligatory?’ The answer was, ‘It is made obligatory so that affluent people can feel the taste of hunger and become compassionate to the poor.’”

"I said to Abu Ja‘far or Abu Abdullah (as): 'Can I delay fasting the three days of the month in the summer until the winter, as I find it easier for me then?' Imam (as) said: 'Yes, but make sure to observe it.'"

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about a man who uses the bathhouse when fasting. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

“The fasts of Shaban for the welcoming of Ramadan.”

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘If the crescent of the month of Rajab is established, then count fifty nine days and fast the sixtieth day.’”

It is the fasting of the day of Wednesday, the day of Thursday and the day of Friday.

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the case of a woman who becomes ill in the month of Ramadan, or experiences Hayd (menses) or travels and then dies before the month of Ramadan ends: if she owes to carry out Qada’ (compensatory fast). He (the Imam) said, ‘Because of Hayd (menses) and illness there is no Qada’ (compensatory fast), however, because of traveling there is Qada’ (compensatory fast) on her.’”

I asked Abu Ja'far (as) about a woman who was sick, menstruated, or traveled during Month of Ramadan and then passed away before the end of the month. Should fasting be made up on her behalf? Imam (as) said: 'As for menstruation and illness, no. But as for travel, yes.'"

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of the day that is not known to be of the month of al-Sha’ban. He (the Imam) said, ’Fasting one day of the month of al-Sha’ban is more beloved to me than losing one day of the month of Ramadan.”’

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘Islam is based on five principles. It is based on Prayer, Charity (al-Zakat) Fasting, Hajj and al-Wilayah (Divine Authority of A ’immah). The call to none of the other principles has been so emphatic as it has been to al-Wilayah.’”

I heard Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, say: "Whenever anyone of you is determined to do good, then he should not delay doing it. For it might so be that a slave of Allah offered prayers or kept a day’s fast and then he is told: Do whatever you desire after this, for I have forgiven you."

"The Torah was revealed on the sixth of Month of Ramadan, the Injil (Gospel) was revealed on the twelfth of Month of Ramadan, the Zabur (Psalms) was revealed on the eighteenth of Month of Ramadan, and the Quran [Al-Furqan] was revealed on Laylatul Qadr."
