“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that if a woman demands for divorce in the manner of al- Mubarat (disavowing) it is a divorce only once, because of which he becomes one of those who can propose marriage with her.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about how a badanah is slaughtered. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is slaughtered from its right side when standing.’”

From among the signs of understanding are forbearance and silence.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The boundaries of al-Muzdalifah are from Muhassar to al-Mazemin.’”

“Abu `Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One who performs al-Hajj should take advantage (al- Mut‘ah); we do not compromise with the book of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, and the Sunnah of His Holy prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.”’

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “What is the reward for those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “They are like those who perform the Ziyārah of Allāh on His Throne.”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘The water of Zamzam is a cure for all illnesses,’ I think he said, ‘no matter whatever it may be.’”

O Shi`a! Do not weaken your necks by abandoning obedience to your sultan. If he is just, then ask Allah to maintain him, and if he is unjust, then ask Allah to rectify him, for surely, your rectification is in the rectification of your sultan. Surely, the just sultan is as a merciful father, so love for him what you love for yourselves, and hate for him what you hate for yourselves.

I sent a letter with my servant Nafi’ to Jabir bin Samra asking him to tell me of something he had heard from the Prophet (S). He wrote to me: “I have heard the Prophet (S) saying on the eve of the Friday, in which al-Aslami has been stoned: “This religion is still prevailing until the Day of Resurrection or until twelve caliphs, who are all from Quraysh, will rule over the people.” The same was narrated by Abbad bin Ya’qoob from Hatam bin Issma’eel. Another one was narrated by Muhammad bin Abdullah bin al-Hakam from ibn Abu Fudayk from ibn Abu Thi’b from Muhajir bin Missmar.

I went to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) and asked, “May I sacrifice myself for you! Should I go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.)?” Imam (a.s.) replied: O Abā Sa’īd! Yes! Go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.), son of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.), the most blessed of the blessed ones, the most purified of the purified ones, and the most pious of the pious ones; for if you go to his Ziyārah, Allāh will register twenty-five Hajj for you. The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muḥammad ibn Ya’qūb (Al-Kulayni), from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Muḥammad ibn Ismā’īl, from Sāliḥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Abī Sa’īd Al-Madā`ini, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

“Once Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) said to me, ‘O Thabit, what do you have to do with people? Leave the people alone and do not invite anyone to your cause (your belief). By Allah, if the inhabitants of heaven and the inhabitants of earth would come together to mislead a servant whom Allah wants to guide, they would not be able to do it. Leave the people alone and no one of you should say: “What about my brother, the son of my Uncle and my neighbor”? When Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, wills good for a servant. He cleanses his spirit and thereafter he does not listen to any principle but that he recognizes, and acknowledges it and does not hear of a wickedness but that he hates it. Then Allah places a word in his heart that serves as a focal point in his affairs.’”

When Abu Ja’far passed away, I was present with Imam Hadi (a.s) and previously the Imam had hinted to him. Therefore, I thought and said to myself: This is just how it happened in the case of Abu Ibrahim [Imam Kadhim (a.s)] and Ismail Ibn Ja’far that when Ismail passed away, Imam Sadiq (a.s) publicly announced his death so that no one may say that Ismail or his descendants are Imams. Imam Hadi (a.s) came to me and said: Yes, Aba Hashim, change of destiny occurred (Bada) with regard to Abu Ja’far and Almighty Allah replaced him with Abu Muhammad as He did in the case of Ismail, son of Imam Sadiq (a.s), after Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s) had declared and mentioned him to be the Imam after him and appointed him as his successor; just as you said to yourself, although it would be displeasing to the followers of falsehood. My son, Abu Muhammad is my successor and he is having all that which the Shia society is in need of and he is having the distinctive signs of Imamate, by the grace of God.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once asked, ‘What do you do?’ I replied, ‘I am not doing anything today.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘This is how your wealth goes away and it becomes difficult for you.’”

a man who had his hand and foot amputated based on testimony came to testify before Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him. Imam (as) accepted his testimony, as the man had repented, and his repentance was known.

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who has cattle; if he can sell their milk without measurement. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so until it stops (coming through the udder) or something similar.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Obligations and divorce are not dealt with properly without the sword.’”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, There are three kinds of hands: the asking hand, the withholding hand, and the spending hand, of which the best hand is the spending hand.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One’s fasting in a connected manner takes place when one fasts one day and night and takes breakfast in Sahar (in the morning before dawn) instead.’”

“Zurarah and ’Isma’il al-Ju‘fiy had asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about the prey which is killed by flareless arrow. He (the Imam) said, ’It is not unlawful if it is what you have shot and it is what you have made for it.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who performs Salah (prayer) with clothes of woman, with her loincloth and uses her veil as a turban. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is acceptable if she is trusted.’”
