325. When the news of killing of Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr [1] reached Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, he said: Our grief over him is as great as their (i.e. the enemy’s) joy for it, except that they have lost an enemy and we have lost a friend.

Instructions [1] written for (Mālik) al-Ashtar an-Nakha‘ī, when the position of Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr had become precarious, and Amīr al-mu’minīn had appointed al-Ashtar as the Governor of Egypt and the surrounding areas; it is the longest document and contains the greatest number of beautiful sayings.

Imam Ali (AS), in a letter that he wrote to Muhammad b. AbU Bakr, said, 'Try to the best of your ability not to displease your Lord by pleasing any of His creatures, for verily Allah can easily substitute a servant for another, but the servant has recourse to no other substitute for Allah.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ فيما كَتَبَ إلى محمّدِ بنِ أبي بكرٍ ـ: إنِ استَطَعتَ أن لاتُسخِطَ رَبَّكَ برِضا أحَدٍ مِن خَلقِهِ فَافعَلْ؛ فإنَّ في اللّهِ عزّوجلّ خَلَفا مِن غَيرِهِ ، ولَيسَ في شيءٍ سِواهُ خَلَفٌ مِنهُ .

Hadith.5228 - Ismaʿil ibn Abi Ziyad narrated from Abu Abdullah (as) that Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr (may Allah (swt) be pleased with him) wrote to the Commander of the Faithful (as) asking about a mentally ill man who intentionally killed another man. The Commander of the Faithful (as) ruled that the
blood money (diyyah) was upon his tribe (Aqilah) and that both his accidental and intentional acts were to be treated the same.
5228 - وَ رَوَى إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ "أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُ كَتَبَ إِلَى أَمِيرِ اَلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ : يَسْأَلُهُ
عَنْ رَجُلٍ مَجْنُونٍ قَتَلَ رَجُلاً عَمْداً فَجَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ اَلدِّيَةَ عَلَى قَوْمِهِ وَ جَعَلَ خَطَأَهُ وَ عَمْدَهُ سَوَاءً".

Abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) was born in the year eighty three AH. He passed away in the month of Shawwal in the year one hundred forty eight at the age of sixty five. He was buried in al-Baqi‘ cemetery in Madina in the grave yard where his father and grandfather and al-Hassan ibn Ali were buried. His mother was ’Umm Farwa daughter of al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn abu Bakr and her mother was ’Asma’ daughter of ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn abu Bakr.
وُلْدِ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) سَنَةَ ثَلاثٍ وَثَمَانِينَ وَمَضَى فِي شَوَّالٍ مِنْ سَنَةِ ثَمَانٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ وَلَهُ خَمْسٌ وَسِتُّونَ سَنَةً وَدُفِنَ بِالْبَقِيعِ فِي الْقَبْرِ الَّذِي دُفِنَ فِيهِ أَبُوهُ وَجَدُّهُ وَالْحَسَنُ بن علي (عَلَيْهما السَّلام) وَأُمُّهُ أُمُّ فَرْوَةَ بِنْتُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأُمُّهَا أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ.

hadith 1304
O’ Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr, know that I have given you charge of Egypt which is my biggest force. So you are duty-bound to oppose your passions and serve as a shield against your religion even though you may get only an hour in the world; and do not enrage Allāh for pleasing others because (Allāh) is such that He may take the place of others, but others cannot take the place of Allāh.
وَاعْلَمْ ـ يَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْر ـ أَنِّي قَدْ وَلَّيْتُكَ أَعْظَمَ أَجْنَادِي فِي نَفْسِي أَهْلَ مِصْرَ، فَأَنْتَ مَحْقُوقٌ أَنْ تُخَالِفَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ، وَأَنْ تُنَافِحَ عَنْ دِينِكَ، وَلَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ إِلَّا سَاعَةٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ، وَلَا تُسْخِطِ اللهَ بِرِضَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ، فَإِنَّ فِي اللهِ خَلَفاً مِنْ غَيْرِهِ، وَلَيْسَ مِنَ اللهِ خَلَفٌ فِي غَيْرِهِ.

4. [4/-] Rijal al-Kashshi: Muhammad b. Masud from Ali b. al-Hasan from Abbas b. A’mir from Aban b. Uthman from Zurara from Abi Ja’far عليه السلام who said
al-Mahdi the client of Uthman came to pledge allegiance to the Commander of the Faithful [Ali] while Muhammad b. Abi Bakr was seated. He [al-Mahdi] said: I pledge allegiance to you that the matter [Khilafa] was for you from the start and I disassociate myself from Fulan, Fulan, and Fulan, then he pledged allegiance to him.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from ‘Umar ibn Aban al-Kalbiy who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman who experiences Istihadah (kind of menses). He (the Imam) mentioned ’Asma’ bint ‘Umays and said, ’Asma’ gave birth to Muhammad ibn abu Bakr in al-Bayda’ and in the case of her giving birth there was blessing for women who give birth or experience Hayd (menses). The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, commanded her to use something like a diaper, secure it with a belt and assume the state of Ihram.”’
2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانٍ الْكَلْبِيِّ قَالَ
ذَكَرْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) الْمُسْتَحَاضَةَ فَذَكَرَ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ عُمَيْسٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَسْمَاءَ وَلَدَتْ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بِالْبَيْدَاءِ وَكَانَ فِي وِلادَتِهَا الْبَرَكَةُ لِلنِّسَاءِ لِمَنْ وَلَدَتْ مِنْهُنَّ أَوْ طَمِثَتْ فَأَمَرَهَا رَسُولُ الله (صلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَاسْتَثْفَرَتْ وَتَنَطَّقَتْ بِمِنْطَقَةٍ وَأَحْرَمَتْ.

قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إن لله ملائكة سياحين في الارض يبلغوني عن أمتي السلام (3).

He said: Al-Husayn b. al-Hasan al-Ashqar narrated to us from `Ali b. Hashim from Abi Rafi` from Muhammad b. Abi Bakr from `Abbad b. `Abdullah from Salman (rh) from the Prophet (s). He said
The best judge of my Nation and the most knowledgeable of my Nation after me is `Ali.
20 - حدثني أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن الحسن المؤدب، عن أحمد بن علي الاصبهاني، عن إبراهيم بن محمد، قال: حدثنا محمد بن علي الصراف، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن الحسن الاشقر، عن علي بن هاشم، عن أبي رافع، عن محمد بن أبي بكر، عن عباد بن عبد الله، عن سلمان (رحمة الله عليه)، عن النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله)، قال
أقضى أمتي وأعلم أمتي بعدي علي (3).

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Abdallah ibn Ahmad from Ibrahim ibn al-Hassan who has said that Wahab ibn Hafs narrated to me from Ishaq ibn Jarir who has said the following.
“Abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) has said, ‘Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib, al-Qasim ibn Muhammad Ibn Abi Bakr and Abu al-Khalid al-Kabuli were of the trusted and reliable companions of Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.).” The Imam (a.s.) has said, “My mother was a true believer, pious and a person of good deeds. Allah loves the people of good deeds.” He has said, “My mother has said that my father said, “O ’Umm Farwa, I pray to Allah to forgive the sins of the sinners of our Shi‘a (followers) a thousand times a day because we exercise patience knowing well the facts of reward but they exercise patience in that of which they have no knowledge.”

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) كَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ وَالْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأَبُو خَالِدٍ الْكَابُلِيُّ مِنْ ثِقَاتِ عَلِيِّ بن الحسين (عَلَيْهما السَّلام) قَالَ وَكَانَتْ أُمِّي مِمَّنْ آمَنَتْ وَاتَّقَتْ وَأَحْسَنَتْ وَالله يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ قَالَ وَقَالَتْ أُمِّي قَالَ أَبِي يَا أُمَّ فَرْوَةَ إِنِّي لادْعُو الله لِمُذْنِبِي شِيعَتِنَا فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ أَلْفَ مَرَّةٍ لانَّا نَحْنُ فِيمَا يَنُوبُنَا مِنَ الرَّزَايَا نَصْبِرُ عَلَى مَا نَعْلَمُ مِنَ الثَّوَابِ وَهُمْ يَصْبِرُونَ عَلَى مَا لا يَعْلَمُونَ.

hadith 56
1 – Sulaym b. Qays, al-Hilālī, al-ʿĀmirī. Narrated from the Commander of the Believers عليه السلام, al-Ḥasan عليه السلام , al-Ḥusayn عليه السلام and ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn عليه السلام . This famous book is attributed to him. Our companions would say that Sulaym is not known, and not mentioned in (any) report. I have found mention of him in places other than from the direction of his book, and not from the narration of Abān b. Abī ʿAyyash from him. Ibn ʿUqda has made mentioned ḥadīths from him in ‘Rijāl Amīr al-Mu’minīn.’ The book (attributed to Sulaym) is a forgery, no doubt about it. There is evidence showing what we have mentioned about it. From it: what it mentions about Muḥammad b. Abū Bakr exhorted his father at his death. And for it: that the Imams are thirteen. And other than that. The isnads of this book vary. Sometimes by the narration of ʿUmar b. Udhayna from Ibrāhīm b. ʿUmar al-Ṣanʿānī from Abān b. Abī ʿAyyāsh from Sulaym. And sometimes it is narrated from
ʿUmar from Abān without an intermediary.
1 - سليم بن قيس، الهلالي، العامري. روى عن أميرالمؤمنين، والحسن، والحسين، وعلي بن الحسين (عليهم السلام). وينسب إليه هذا الكتاب المشهور. وكان أصحابنا يقولون
إن سليما لا يعرف، ولا ذكر في خبر. وقد وجدت ذكره في مواضع من غير جهة كتابه، ولا من رواية أبان ابن أبي عياش عنه. وقد ذكر له ابن عقدة في " رجال أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) " أحاديث عنه. والكتاب موضوع، لا مرية فيه، وعلى ذلك علامات فيه تدل على ما ذكرناه. منها: ما ذكر أن محمد بن أبي بكر وعظ أباه عند موته. ومنها: أن الأئمة ثلاثة عشر. وغير ذلك. وأسانيد هذا الكتاب تختلف: تارة برواية عمر بن أذينة، عن إبراهيم بن عمر الصنعاني، عن أبان بن أبي عياش، عن سليم. وتارة يروى عن عمر، عن أبان، بلا واسطة.
