he heard abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) say the following. “ Allah has disdained to place Imamat in two brothers after al-Hassan and al-Husayn (a.s.).”

“I heard abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) say, “No one claims this matter (Leadership with Divine Authority) other than one who possesses Divine authority except that Allah will cut his life short.”

“. .Your suffering is only because you disbelieved when One God (and the people who possess Leadership with Divine Authority were) was mentioned. .” (40:12)”

“A man who was present in a meeting (of people) with abu al-Hassan al-Rida (a.s.) spoke to me of the information herein below. “When people readied themselves to leave the meeting the Imam (a.s.) said to them, “Meet abu Ja‘far (a.s.), (before you leave), offer to him greeting and renew your covenant with him.” When left, he (the Imam) said to me, “May Allah grant well-being to al-Mufaddal, he would have believed (in the succeeding Imam) without it (the command to renew their covenant)”.

Imam Hadi (a.s) wrote to the Shia of Baghdad, Madayan, Sawad and the surrounding areas: I have appointed Abu Ali bin Rashid as successor to Husain bin Abde Rabb and the representatives before him; and their obedience is my obedience. I have written this letter in my own handwriting.

You are the people of Allah’s greeting and salutation. You are the people of Allah’s preference and mercy, Allah’s success and guard, and the advocacy and the obedience to Allah. No judgement will be maintained for you. No fear and no sadness will affect you.

The Quran was revealed in seven letters. The least allowed thing for a Divine Leader is to issue decrees in seven different ways.’ Then as-Sadiq (MGB) added, ‘Such are Our Bounties: whether thou bestow them (on others) or withhold them, no account will be asked.’”

He said to me: O Aba Hamza! Do not place `Ali lower than where Allah has placed him, and do not raise `Ali higher than where Allah has placed him. It is enough that `Ali fights the people of the globe and that he brings the people of Paradise together.

Indeed, a man is surely to love you while he does not know what you say, and Allah will make him enter Paradise, and indeed, a man is surely to hate you while he does not know what you say, and Allah will make him enter the Fire, and indeed, a man from you is surely to fill his journal without (having performed any) deed. I said: And how would that be? He said: He would pass by people while while they are (verbally) offending us, and when they see him, some of them will say to others: Indeed, this man is of their party , and a man from our party will pass by them, and so, they will push him and speak (negatively) of him. Then, Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, will prescribe good deeds for that until his journal is filled without (him having performed a) deed.

The Prophet (MGB) ascended to Heaven one-hundred and twenty times. Every time, the Honorable the Exalted God recommended the love for Ali (MGB) and the Immaculate Divine Leaders (MGB) more than He recommended the obligatory deeds.”

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Shall I not guide you to that by which, if you follow it, you will not be destroyed or misguided? They said: Of course, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Surely, your Imam and your wali is `Ali b. Abi Talib. So, consult him, refer to him, and believe in him, for Gabriel commanded me of this.

Prophet (s) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, some people dressing clothes of light with luminous faces whom will be identified by the signs of prostration will come. They will overstep the rows until they stand in front of the Lord of the worlds. The prophets, angels, shahids, and righteous people will envy them." Omar bin al-Khattab asked: "O Allah’s Messenger, who are they whom the prophets, angels, shahids, and righteous men will envy?" The Prophet (s) answered: "They will be our Shia, and Ali will be their imam."

“Shihab ibn “Abd Rabbihi once asked me to convey his Salam (greeting of peace) to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and that he becomes terrified in his sleep. I then said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), that Shihab has offered Salam (greeting of peace) and has said that he becomes terrified in his sleep. He (the Imam) said, ‘Tell him to pay Zakat of his assets.’ I then conveyed the message to Shihab and he asked me, ‘Will you deliver to him (the Imam) a message?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I can do so.’ He said, ‘Tell him (the Imam) that even children, not to mention adults, know that I pay Zakat obligatory on my assets.’ I (the narrator) then conveyed the message to him (the Imam) and abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said, ‘Say to him that he pays Zakat due on his assets but he does not give it to a proper beneficiary.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to me, ‘O abu Muhammad, what do you say when you go to bed with your wife?’ I said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, can I say anything?’ He (the Imam) said, ’Yes, say, “O Lord, with Your words I have made her private organs lawful and in Your trust I have taken her (in marriage). If You have destined anything in her womb make it pious and clean and do not make any share in him for Satan.’” I then asked, ’I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, is there a share of Satan in it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, have you not heard the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, in His book, “. . . he shares them in their assets and children.” (17:64) Satan comes, sits as a man sits and comes down as a man does.’ I asked, ‘By what means is it found out?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is found out by means of love for us and hatred toward us.’”

When the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, died, the whole Makkah was shaken with deep sorrow. Then Abu Qahafa said: "What is happening?" They told him: "The Prophet has departed." He said: "Who has assumed authority over people after him?" They told him: "Your son." He asked: "Did Banu Abd Shams and Banu al-Mughaira approve?" They said: "Yes." He said: "No one can prevent that which Allah bestows and no one can give what Allah takes away. What a surprise! They dispute the Prophethood and easily give the Caliphate! Surely, this seems to have been destined."

Prophet (s) said to Ali (a): "O Ali, all the souls of my people, including the children and the old, were shown before me before the creation of their bodies. I passed by you and your Shia, and sought Allah’s forgiveness for you." Ali said: "O Allah’s Prophet, tell me more about them." The Prophet (s) said: "Yes, Ali. When your Shia and you will come out from your graves, your faces will be as bright as the full moon, your hardships will be alleviated, your griefs will be taken away from you, and you will be in the shadow of the Divine Throne. People will be fearful, but you will not, and will be sad, but you will not. A dining table will be installed for you while people will be called to the judgment."

once he and Kamil al-Tammar went to see abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.). Kamil said to the Imam (a.s.), “‘May Allah take my soul in service for your cause, there is a hadith which so and so son of so and so has narrated.” The Imam (a.s.) said, “Say and read it.” He (Kamil) then said, “He so and so narrated to me that the Holy Prophet narrated a thousand chapter to Ali on the day the Messenger of Allah died. Each of those chapters open a thousand chapter. The total becomes a Million chapter.” The Imam (a.s.) said, “That is how it happened.” I then said, “‘May Allah take my soul in service for your cause, has this become manifest to your followers and those who love you?” The Imam (a.s.) said, “O Kamil, only one or two chapters may have become so.” Kamil has said that the Imam (a.s.) then said, “You perhaps may not be able to narrate all our excellence and virtues. You do not narrate from our excellence and virtue but only a scattered thousand.”

“Abu Ja‘far, al-Mansur summoned me in the middle of the night and I went to see him. When met him he was sitting in a chair. Before him there was a candle and a letter in his hand. The narrator has said that I greeted him and he threw the letter to me while was weeping. He said, “This is a letter of Muhammad ibn Sulayman in which he has informed us that abu Ja‘far ibn Muhammad (a.s.) has died. We are for Allah and to Him we will all return. He said it three times. Where is anyone like Ja‘far? “ Then he said to me, “Write down.” The narrator has said that I then wrote. I wrote the introduction of the letter. He (Mansur) said, “Write to ask if he has left a directive will to any man particularly, if so summon him and kill him.” He has said that reply to hisletter came back that said the Imam (a.s.) has in fact, left a will to five people and one of them is abu Ja‘far al-Mansur, Muhammad ibn Sulayman, ‘Abdallah, Musa and Hamida.”

I asked him: 'What is the least that makes a man misguided?' He said: 'That he does not recognize the one whom Allah has commanded to obey, whose allegiance He has made obligatory, and whom He has made His proof on His earth and His witness over His creation.' I asked: 'Who are they, O Commander of the Faithful?' He said: 'They are those whom Allah has associated with Himself and His Prophet, saying: "O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you." [4:59]' I kissed his head and said: You have clarified for me, relieved me, and removed all doubt that was in my heart.

O Muhammad! Your prophethood has been completed and you have been cut away from food, so who will be for your Nation after you? So, I said: O Lord! I have tested Your creation, and I did not find anyone who loved me more intensely than `Ali b. Abi Talib. So, He said: Me too, O Muhammad, so inform him that he is the Banner of Guidance, the Imam of My friends, and a light for whoever obeys Me.
