Everything in this book that is narrated from Muhammad ibn Masud Al-Ayyashi has been transmitted by me from Al-Muzaffar ibn Jafar ibn Al-Muzaffar Al-Alawi - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Jafar ibn Muhammad ibn Masud, from his father, Abu Al-Nadr Muhammad ibn Masud Al-Ayyashi - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him.

The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'O Ibn Masaud, beware of ever associating anything with Allah for even the twinkling of an eye, even if you are to be cut up with a saw, amputated, crucified or burnt with fire.

The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'O Ibn Masaud, be wary of the intoxication brought about by sin, for verily the sin intoxicates just as much as alcohol if not more. Allah, most High, says, "Deaf, dumb and blind, they do not apply reason"

Imam Ali (AS) said, The one who is generous is praised in this world and felicitous in the Hereafter.

On the night of the delegation of Jinn (i.e. during the battle of Tabuk), we were with the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, when he made a station at Ula. Then he went away, and when he returned, he heaved a sigh. Then he said: "O Ibn Mas’ood, I have been warned of my impending death." So I said: "O messenger of Allah, appoint a successor." He asked: "Who?" "I said: "Abu Bakr." He said: (The Prophet) walked for sometime, and heaved a sigh and then said: "My death has been announced to me O Ibn Mas’ood." Then I said: "Appoint a successor, O messenger of Allah." He asked: "Who?" I said: "Umar." He remained silent, and then walked for sometime, heaved a sigh, and said: "I have been given news of my death, O Ibn Mas’ood!" So, I said: "Appoint a successor!" He asked: "Who?" I said: "Uthman." He kept silent, walked for sometime, heaved a sigh and said: "O Ibn Mas’ood, my death has been announced to me!" I said: "Appoint a successor, O Prophet of Allah" He asked: "Who?" I said: "‘Ali ibn Abi Talib." He heaved a sigh and said: "By He Who controls my soul, if they obey him (i.e. ‘Ali), they will definitely enter Paradise, everyone of them."

Yes. He (MGB) has said that there will be twelve - as many as the Chiefs of Israel.’”

I am Abdullah ibn Mas’ood.’ The Bedouin asked, ‘Has your Prophet told you how many successors he will have after him?’ He replied, ‘Yes. Twelve successors - as many as the Israelite chiefs.’”

The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘O Ibn Masaud, do not be under any delusion about Allah, and do not be under any delusion with respect to your righteousness, your knowledge, your deeds, your goodness or your worship.

“The Caliphs after me will be twelve - as many as the chiefs of Israel.”

The caliphs after me are twelve like the number of chiefs of the Children of Israel.

Yunus informed me that Aba al-Hasan عليه السلام had guaranteed protection from the fire for him.

The Prophet (SAWA) told Ibn MasÝÙd, ‘Lower your expectation such that when you wake up in the morning, you say, ‘I will not see the night and when you go to sleep at night, you say, ‘I will not see the morning. And be prepared to depart from this life and yearn to meet Allah.

Abu Abdillah عليه السلام remembered my father and said: may Allah bless your father – thrice.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) once said to me, ‘Maintaining good neighborly relations increases one’s life span and the development of the country.”’

he heard abu al-Hassan al-Rida (a.s.) say the following. “ The Imams (a.s.) are the deputies of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, on earth.”

“I wrote a letter to Abil Hassan (s) and asked about a man who makes love to a woman ten times - whether it be legitimate or not - on one of the days of the (Arabic) month of fasting - Ramadan. He (s) replied, He has to pay ten times the expiation: an expiation for each time, and if he eats or drinks something he should also pay for the expiation of one day.”

“Shall I not related to you a tradition from `Abd Allah ibn mas`ud?” I replied, “Why not?” He said: `Abd Allah said: “While we were in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (SA), he smiled. So I asked him, “What is it, O Messenger of Allah?” He (SA) replied, “I am surprised at how a believer can worry about being sick. If he knew the reward which resides in illness, he would ask to be ill until he meets his Lord, the Mighty and High.”

Hadith.1191 - Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) said: "Ibn Mas'ud corrupted people's prayers with two things: by saying 'Blessed be Your Name, and Exalted is Your Majesty,' which was something the jinn said ignorantly, and Allah (swt), the Exalted, narrated it from them, and by saying 'Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah (swt)'."

“I wrote a letter to Abil Hassan Al-Kadhim (MGB) and asked about a man who makes love to a woman ten times - whether it be legitimate or not - on one of the days of the month of fasting - Ramazan. He (MGB) replied, ‘He has to pay ten times the expiation: an expiation for each time, and if he eats or drinks anything he should also pay for the expiation of one day.’”

We were sitting in a circle with `Abdullah b. Mas`ud when a Bedouin came and said: Which one of you is `Abdullah? `Abdullah b. Mas`ud said: I am `Abdullah. He said: Has your Prophet (s) ever told you how many caliphs would come after him? He said: Yes, twelve, like the number of chiefs of the Children of Israel.
