قيس بن الربيع: عده الشيخ (تارة) في أصحاب الباقر عليه السلام (5)، قائلا: " قيس بن الربيع، بتري "، (وأخرى) في أصحاب الصادق عليه السلام (20)، قائلا: " قيس ابن الربيع الأسدي، أبو محمد الكوفي ". وقال الكشي (ذيل أحوال الحسين بن علوان الكلبي) (252): " وقيس بن الربيع بتري، وكان له محبة ". وقال المفيد - قدس سره -: " روى مخول بن إبراهيم، عن قيس بن الربيع، قال: سألت أبا إسحاق السبيعي عن المسح على الخفين، فقال: أدركت الناس يمسحون حتى لقيت رجلا من بني هاشم لم أر مثله قط، محمد بن علي بن الحسين عليهم السلام، فسألته عن المسح، فنهاني عنه، وقال: لم يكن علي أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام يمسح، وكان يقول: سبق الكتاب المسح على الخفين، قال أبو إسحاق: فما مسحت منذ نهاني عنه، قال قيس بن الربيع، وما مسحت أنا منذ سمعت أبا إسحاق ". الارشاد: باب ذكر الامام بعد علي بن الحسين عليهم السلام، الحديث 7.
