16. [16/171] Rijal al-Kashshi: Hamduwayh b. Nusayr from Muhammad b. Isa from al-Washsha from Hisham b. Salim from Zurara who said
I asked Aba Ja`far عليه السلام about [accepting] the stipends given to officials [working in the bureaucracy of the Caliphate]? He said: there is no harm in [taking] it, then he said: Zurara wanted that it reach Hisham [the Caliph] that I prohibit working for the Sultan.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from abu Hammam Isma’Il ibn Hammam from abu al-Hassan al-Rida (a.s.) who has said the following
“A servant’s praying and pleading before Allah for help, privately once, is equal to seventy such prayers in public.’ In another Hadith it is said: ‘A prayer that you (hide from people) is better before Allah than seventy prayers made in public.’”
1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي هَمَّامٍ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ هَمَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
دَعْوَةُ الْعَبْدِ سِرّاً دَعْوَةً وَاحِدَةً تَعْدِلُ سَبْعِينَ دَعْوَةً عَلانِيَةً. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى دَعْوَةٌ تُخْفِيهَا أَفْضَلُ عِنْدَ الله مِنْ سَبْعِينَ دَعْوَةً تُظْهِرُهَا.

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Husayn ibn Sa’id from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid from al-Walid ibn Sabiyh from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“No injustice is more severe than the one against which the oppressed cannot find any support except Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy.”

مَا مِنْ مَظْلِمَةٍ أَشَدَّ مِنْ مَظْلِمَةٍ لا يَجِدُ صَاحِبُهَا عَلَيْهَا عَوْناً إِلا الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘The first one to rebuff the liar is Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, then the two angels who are with him, then he is the one who knows he is a liar.’”
6ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبَانٍ الأحْمَرِ عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَنْ يُكَذِّبُ الْكَذَّابَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ثُمَّ الْمَلَكَانِ اللَّذَانِ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ هُوَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ كَاذِبٌ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from abu Shaybah from al-Zuhri from abu ‘Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following
“The worst servant (of Allah) is a servant who has two faces and tongues. He praises his brother (in belief) on his face and backbites him in his absence. If his brother (in belief) gains something, he envies him, and if he faces difficult conditions, he betrays him.”
2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ يَكُونُ ذَا وَجْهَيْنِ وَذَا لِسَانَيْنِ يُطْرِي أَخَاهُ شَاهِداً وَيَأْكُلُهُ غَائِباً إِنْ أُعْطِيَ حَسَدَهُ وَإِنِ ابْتُلِيَ خَذَلَهُ.

مَا كَانَ فِيمَا مَضَى وَلا فِيمَا بَقِيَ وَلا فِيمَا أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ مُؤْمِنٌ إِلا وَلَهُ جَارٌ يُؤْذِيهِ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from Malik ibn ‘Atiyyah from abu Basir from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“Out of three people, two of them should not hold a private conversation because it saddens and hurts the feelings of the third.”

إِذَا كَانَ الْقَوْمُ ثَلاثَةً فَلا يَتَنَاجَى مِنْهُمُ اثْنَانِ دُونَ صَاحِبِهِمَا فَإِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ مَا يَحْزُنُهُ وَيُؤْذِيهِ.

“The Holy Prophet said, ‘All innovations are misguidance and all misguidance is Hell.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) كُلُّ بِدْعَةٍ ضَلالَةٌ وَكُلُّ ضَلالَةٍ فِي النَّارِ.

Is it permissible to say that Allah is a thing? He said: Yes, as long as one excludes Him from the two limitations; the limitation of incapacitation and the limitation of anthropomorphism.

16. My father, and all of my scholars narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from his father, from Ḥasan ibn Maḥbūb, from Abān, from Al-Sadūsi, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), who said
The Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) said: On the Day of Judgment, I will intercede for those who have come to my Ziyārah.

7. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Tsa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Tsma’il ibn abu al-Sabbah who has said the following
“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a cleaner man to whom I gave clothes but he burnt them. He (the Imam) said, ‘You can make him compensate, you gave him for mending and not to destroy them.’”
7- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّبَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الثَّوْبِ أَدْفَعُهُ إِلَى الْقَصَّارِ فَيُحْرِقُهُ قَالَ أَغْرِمْهُ فَإِنَّكَ إِنَّمَا دَفَعْتَهُ إِلَيْهِ لِيُصْلِحَهُ وَلَمْ تَدْفَعْهُ إِلَيْهِ لِيُفْسِدَهُ.

6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Nadr ibn Suwayd from certain persons of our people in a marfu‘ manner the following is narrated
“About the case of a deer or wild donkey hunted with sword; if it is cut in pieces, he (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful to use both pieces for food if one of them is not still moving, but if one piece moves, the other piece then is not edible because it is dead.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا رَفَعَهُ فِي الظَّبْيِ وَ حِمَارِ الْوَحْشِ يُعْتَرَضَانِ بِالسَّيْفِ فَيُقَدَّانِ فَقَالَ
لَا بَأْسَ بِأَكْلِهِمَا مَا لَمْ يَتَحَرَّكْ أَحَدُ النِّصْفَيْنِ فَإِنْ تَحَرَّكَ أَحَدُهُمَا لَمْ يُؤْكَلِ الْآخَرُ لِأَنَّهُ مَيْتَةٌ.
