2. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ya’qub b. Yazid from Safwan from Abdillah b. al-Waleed Nakha’i from Abdillah b. Ya’qub from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said
“Those who are biased have removed the necklace of Islam from their necks and thrown it away.”
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْوَلِیدِ النَّخَعِیِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ یَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ
مَنْ یَغْضَبُ أَوْ یُغْضَبُ لَهُ خَلَعَ رِبْقَهَ الْإِسْلَامِ مِنْ عُنُقِهِ.

7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Abd Allah al-Hajjal from Hafs ibn abu ‘A’isha who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) once sent one of his slaves for a certain work and he delayed. The Imam then went out to find why he has delayed so much. He found him sleeping. He sat near his head fanning to comfort him until he woke up. When he fully woke up, Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) said to him, ‘O so and so, Allah knows, you are not supposed to do this. You sleep night and day. The night is for you to sleep and your day is for us.’”
7ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الله الْحَجَّالِ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ قَالَ
بَعَثَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) غُلاماً لَهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ فَأَبْطَأَ فَخَرَجَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) عَلَى أَثَرِهِ لَمَّا أَبْطَأَ فَوَجَدَهُ نَائِماً فَجَلَسَ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ يُرَوِّحُهُ حَتَّى انْتَبَهَ فَلَمَّا تَنَبَّهَ قَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَا فُلانُ وَالله مَا ذَلِكَ لَكَ تَنَامُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ لَكَ اللَّيْلُ وَلَنَا مِنْكَ النَّهَارُ.

hadith 1091
13. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn ‘Abd Allah from certain individuals of his people in a marfu’ manner has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Anger darkens the heart of a wise person.’ The Imam then said, ‘One who loses control of his anger loses his power of reason.”’
13ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) الْغَضَبُ مَمْحَقَةٌ لِقَلْبِ الْحَكِيمِ وَقَالَ مَنْ لَمْ يَمْلِكْ غَضَبَهُ لَمْ يَمْلِكْ عَقْلَهُ.

16. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Musa ibn Sa‘dan from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan who has narrated the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Taking an oath in anger does not have any valid effect or to cut off relations with relatives, by Jabr (force) or Ikrah (coercion, dislike).’ I (the narrator) then asked saying, ‘I pray to Allah to keep you well, what is the difference between forced and coerced?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Force is by Sultan, coercion or dislike is from the wife, mother or father and that does not have any valid effect.’”
16- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ سَعْدَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) لا يَمِينَ فِي غَضَبٍ وَلا فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ وَلا فِي جَبْرٍ وَلا فِي إِكْرَاهٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللهُ فَمَا فَرْقٌ بَيْنَ الإكْرَاهِ وَالْجَبْرِ قَالَ الْجَبْرُ مِنَ السُّلْطَانِ وَيَكُونُ الإكْرَاهُ مِنَ الزَّوْجَةِ وَالأمِّ وَالأبِ وَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ.

hadith 789
17. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ali from Musa ibn Sa‘dan from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has narrated the following

قَالَ لا يَمِينَ فِي غَضَبٍ وَلا فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ وَلا فِي إِجْبَارٍ وَلا فِي إِكْرَاهٍ قُلْتُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللهُ فَمَا الْفَرْقُ بَيْنَ الإكْرَاهِ وَالإجْبَارِ قَالَ الإجْبَارُ مِنَ السُّلْطَانِ وَيَكُونُ الإكْرَاهُ مِنَ الزَّوْجَةِ وَالأمِّ وَالأبِ وَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ.

hadith 256
1. We were told by Muhammed bin Ali Majilawayh, from his paternal uncle, Muhammed bin Abi’l-Qasem, from Muhammed bin Ali al-Kufi, from Musa bin Sa’dan, from Abdullah bin Qasem, from Abdullah bin Sinan, that he said
Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, said: There is no right hand (valid in promise) in the case of anger, nor in coercion, nor in compulsion. I said: May Allah rectify you, then what is the difference between compulsion and coercion? He said: Coercion is from the ruler, and compulsion is from a wife, mother and father, and is nothing.
حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه، عن عمه محمد بن أبي القاسم، عن محمد بن علي الكوفي، عن موسى بن سعدان، عن عبد الله بن القاسم، عن عبد الله بن سنان قال
قال أبو عبد الله عليه السلام: لا يمين في غضب ولا في إجبار ولا في إكراه. قلت: أصلحك الله، فما الفرق بين الاكراه والاجبار؟ قال: الاجبار من السلطان، والاكراه يكون من الزوجة والام والأب وليس بشئ.

9. Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from ibn Faddal from Ali ibn ‘Uqbah from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) a similar Hadith with the following addition
“When injustice is done to you in an oppressive condition, be happy with My support; My support for you is better than your own support for yourself.”
9ـ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام)
مِثْلَهُ وَزَادَ فِيهِ وَإِذَا ظُلِمْتَ بِمَظْلِمَةٍ فَارْضَ بِانْتِصَارِي لَكَ فَإِنَّ انْتِصَارِي لَكَ خَيْرٌ مِنِ انْتِصَارِكَ لِنَفْسِكَ.

My father, Allah may have mercy upon him, narrated to us from Sa’d bin Abdullah… from Safwan bin Mehran that Abu Abdullah (a) said
The true believer is he whose rage does not take him out of the right and whose satisfaction does not enter him into the wrong. When he has power, he should not seize more than that which is his right.
أَبِي رَحِمَهُ اَللَّهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ ع إِنَّمَا اَلْمُؤْمِنُ اَلَّذِي إِذَا غَضِبَ لَمْ يُخْرِجْهُ غَضَبُهُ مِنْ حَقٍّ وَ اَلَّذِي إِذَا رَضِيَ لَمْ يُدْخِلْهُ رِضَاهُ فِي اَلْبَاطِلِ وَ اَلَّذِي إِذَا قَدَرَ لَمْ يَأْخُذْ أَكْثَرَ من ماله مِمَّا لَهُ .

hadith 577
My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi from `Uthman b. `Isa from `Abdullah b. Muskan from Muhammad b. Muslim from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said
There are three among the creation that will be closest to Allah on the Day of Resurrection until He completes the Judgment: (1) A man who does not use his strength during his state of anger against those under his hands, (2) a man who walks between two people and does not lean toward the other [in preference], (3) a man who speaks the truth, whether it is against him or for him.
6 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسين السعد آبادي، عن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، عن عثمان بن عيسى، عن عبد الله بن مسكان، عن محمد بن مسلم، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال
ثلاثة هم أقرب الخلق إلى الله عز وجل يوم القيامة حتى يفرغ من الحساب: رجل لم تدعه قدرته في حال غضبه إلى أن يحيف على من تحت يديه، ورجل مشى بين اثنين فلم يمل مع أحدهما على الآخر بشعيرة، ورجل قال الحق فيما عليه وله (1).

5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah in a marfu‘ manner who has narrated the following
“’Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali (a.s.), once said to Shurayh, ’You must not please anyone in your adjudicating session, and if you become angry, you must stand up and must not issue a judgment when you are angry.’ Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘The tongue of a judge is behind his heart. If it is for him, he speaks; and if it is against him, he remains quiet.’”
5- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) لِشُرَيْحٍ لا تُسَارَّ أَحَداً فِي مَجْلِسِكَ وَإِنْ غَضِبْتَ فَقُمْ فَلا تَقْضِيَنَّ فَأَنْتَ غَضْبَانُ قَالَ وَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) لِسَانُ الْقَاضِي وَرَاءَ قَلْبِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَهُ قَالَ وَإِنْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْسَكَ.

hadith 603
1. It was narrated to me by Ahmad b. Muhammad from Sa’d b. Abdillah from Muhammad b. Isa from al-Hassan b. Ali b. Fadhal from Ghalib b. Uthman from Shu’aib from a man from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said
“One who controls himself at the time of fear and anger, Allah will prohibit fire for his body.”
حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ غَالِبِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ شُعَیْبٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ
مَنْ مَلَکَ نَفْسَهُ إِذَا رَغِبَ وَ إِذَا رَهِبَ وَ إِذَا اشْتَهَی وَ إِذَا غَضِبَ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ جَسَدَهُ عَلَی النَّارِ.

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Muhammad b. Isma`il b. Bazi` from `Abdullah b. `Uthman from al-Husayn b. Mehran from Ishaq b. Ghalib from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said
Whoever is ill-mannered has tormented himself.
3 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن عبد الله بن عثمان، عن الحسين بن مهران، عن إسحاق بن غالب، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال
من أساء خلقه عذب نفسه (2).

8. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn al-Hamid from Yahya ibn ‘Amr from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, revealed to certain persons of His prophets: “O sons of Adam, remember Me in your anger, I will remember you in My anger and will not eliminate you along with the things that I eliminate. Be happy with My support; My support is better for you than your support for your own self”
8ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) أَوْحَى الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى بَعْضِ أَنْبِيَائِهِ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ اذْكُرْنِي فِي غَضَبِكَ أَذْكُرْكَ فِي غَضَبِي لا أَمْحَقْكَ فِيمَنْ أَمْحَقُ وَارْضَ بِي مُنْتَصِراً فَإِنَّ انْتِصَارِي لَكَ خَيْرٌ مِنِ انْتِصَارِكَ لِنَفْسِكَ.

6-24 (The compiler of the book narrated) that his father - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ahmad ibn Idris quoted Muhammad ibn Ahmad, on the authority of Musa ibn Ja’far al-Baghdady, on the authority of Ali ibn Moábad, on the authority of Ibrahim ibn Ishaq, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Sin’an that Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB) said, “
Seek refuge from six characteristics every day: doubt; associating partners with God; undue bias; anger; transgression and jealousy.”
6-24 حدثنا أبي رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا أحمد بن إدريس، عن محمد بن أحمد عن موسى بن جعفر البغدادي، عن علي بن معبد، عن إبراهيم بن إسحاق، عن عبد الله ابن سنان، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال
كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله.يتعوذ في كل يوم من ست [خصال] من الشك، والشرك، والحمية، والغضب، والبغي، والحسد

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “There is nothing better than quenching your anger with patience and perseverance.”
قال أبو عبد الله (عليه السلام): مامن جرعة أفضل من جرعة غيظ يتجرعها العبد يردها في قلبه إما بحلم وإما بصبر.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Forbearance is enough as a helper’ and he said, ‘If you are not a forbearing person at least pretend to be like a forebearing person.’”
6ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) كَفَى بِالْحِلْمِ نَاصِراً وَقَالَ إِذَا لَمْ تَكُنْ حَلِيماً فَتَحَلَّمْ.

3-67 Muhammad ibn al-Hassan - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Muhammad ibn al-Hassan al-Saffar quoted Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Safvan ibn Yahya, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Sin’an, “A believer’s name was mentioned to Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB). The Imam (MGB) said, ‘
Indeed a believer is one who when angered, his anger would not lead him away from the right. A believer is one who when pleased, his pleasure would not lead him into the wrong. A believer is one who when in power, his power would not lead him to acquire what doesn’t rightfully belong to him.’”
3-67 حدثنا محمد بن الحسن رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن أحمد بن محمد بن خالد، عن أبيه، عن صفوان بن يحيى، عن عبد الله بن سنان قال
ذكر رجل المؤمن عند أبي عبد الله عليه السلام، فقال:إنما المؤمن: الذي إذا سخط لم يخرجه سخطه من الحق، والمؤمن [الذي] إذا رضي لم يدخله رضاه في باطل والمؤمن: الذي إذا قدر لم يتعاط ما ليس له [بنفسه]

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “Subduing one's anger during times when the enemies are in power is considered to be a form of concealing faith. It protects the one who conceals his faith, and keeps him safe from trouble in life.”

كظم الغيظ عن العدو في دولاتهم تقية وحرز لمن أخذ بها، وتحرز من التعريض للبلاء في الدنيا.

“Whoever controls his anger, Allah covers his defects for him. ’”
6ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ سَيْفِ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ عَمَّنْ
سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ مَنْ كَفَّ غَضَبَهُ سَتَرَ الله عَوْرَتَهُ.
