"Any non-Muslim under the protection of Islam (dhimmi) who buys land from a Muslim is obligated to pay Khums on it."

Hadith.704 - Abu Ubaidah Al-Hadha’ said: "Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) passed by me while I was between Makkah and Madinah placing stones. I asked: 'Is this from that?' Imam (as) said: 'Yes.'"

“Abu ‘Ubaydah al-Hadhdha’ died and I was in al-Madinah. Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), sent a dinar and said, ‘Buy with it hunut and take notice that hunut is camphor; however, do as people do.’ When I went, he (the Imam) sent a dinar and said, ‘Buy camphor with it.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘You must not consume your assets in invalid dealings among your selves. . . (2:184) He (the Imam) said, ‘Among Quraysh a man gambled even his wife and property. Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, prohibited such dealings.’”

“I heard abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘If one builds a Masjid, Allah builds for him a house in paradise.’ Abu ‘Ubaydah has said, ‘Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once passed by on the way to Makkah and I had built a Masjid with stones and asked him, “I pray to Allah to keep my souls in the service of your cause , I hope this will be of those (houses in paradise).” He (the Imam) said, “Yes, it will be so.’””

“Once we asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), if turban is part of shroud for a deceased. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not part of it. The obligatory shroud consist of three pieces of cloths, one over all; the minimum of which must be large enough to cover the whole body and any extra is of the Sunnah up to five pieces and more than this is contrived.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The Holy prophet commanded to prepare turban and it was prepared for the Holy prophet.’ The truthful shaykh (a.s.), sent for us one dinar, when we were in al-Madinah at the time of the death of abu ‘Ubaydah al-Hadhdha’. He (the Imam) commanded us to buy for him hunut and turban which we did.”’

“They are so and so and so and so who reverted from the faith in rejecting Leadership with Divine Authority of Ali (a.s.).” I then asked about the words of Allah, the Most High. “This is because they have said to those who hate God’s revelation, “We shall obey you in some matters.” . .” (47:26) The Imam (a.s.) said, ‘By Allah, it was revealed about the two of them and their followers and that is the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most gracious, that Jibril brought to Muhammad (s.a) , “This is because they have said to those who hate God’s revelation, -about Leadership with Divine Authority of Ali (a.s.)- “We shall obey you in some matters. .” (47:26) The Imam (a.s.) said, “They made an agreement with the Amawids not to allow the leadership come to us after The Holy Prophet (s.a) not to pay us the one fifth taxes saying, “We have given them already so their is no need to give them more. The transfer of leadership to them did not matter to them at all. They said, “We obey in certain matters that you want us to obey, such as the one fifth taxes. We will not pay it to them. His words that read, “who hate God’s revelation,” refers to Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) Leadership with Divine Authority over the creatures. With them was abu ‘Ubayda, their scribe. Allah has said, “If the unbelievers persist in their disbelief, We shall also persist in punishing them (43:79). Do they think that We do not hear their secrets and whispers? We certainly can hear them and Our Messengers record it all (43:80).”

"Perhaps you think that these people did not sleep?" I replied: "Allah (swt) and His Messenger know best." Imam (as) said: "This body must be allowed rest so that the soul can depart and the body can rejuvenate. When the soul returns, it restores the body's strength for action. This verse refers to those who rest their bodies but then rise in devotion, praying to their Lord (azj) out of fear and hope. This was revealed concerning The Commander of the Faithful (as) and his followers among our Shia. They sleep in the early part of the night, then when two-thirds of the night have passed or as much as Allah (swt) wills, they hasten to their Lord (azj), desiring Him, fearing Him, and hoping for what He has. Allah (swt), the Mighty and Majestic, mentioned them in His Book to His Prophet (sw) and informed them of what He had granted them—settling them near Him, entering them into His Paradise, granting them security from fear, and calming their dread." I said: "May I be your ransom, if I rise during the last part of the night, what should I say?" Imam (as) said: "Say, 'All praise is due to Allah (swt), the Lord (azj) of the worlds, the God of the Messengers. All praise is due to Allah (swt), who gives life to the dead and resurrects those in the graves.' When you say this, the evil whisperings of Shaytan will depart from you, if Allah (swt) wills."

I heard Salman Al-Farsy (ar) saying: ‘When the Rasool Allah (saww) passed away, and the people did what they did, and Abu Bakr and Umar, and Abu Ubeyda Bin Al-Jarrah disputed with the Helpers, they disputed with them by the ‘بِحُجَّةِ’ rights of Ali (asws). They said, ‘O group of Helpers! Qureysh are more deserving of the Command than you are because the Rasool Allah (saww) is from Qureysh and the Emigrant are from them. Allah (azwj) the High has Begun by them in His (azwj) Book and has Preferred them, and the Rasool Allah (saww) has said that the Imams (asws) are going to be from Qureysh’. Salman (ar) said. ‘So I (ar) came to Ali (asws) and he (asws) was washing (the body of) the Rasool Allah (saww). I informed him of what the people had done and I said, ‘At this time, Abu Bakr is upon the Pulpit of the Rasool Allah (saww), and by Allah (azwj), they are not happy to pledge their allegiances to him with one hand, they are pledging their allegiances by both, their right hands and their left’. So he (asws) said to me; ‘O Salman (ar)! Do you know the one who pledged his allegiance to him upon the Pulpit of the Rasool Allah (saww)?’ I (ar) said, ‘I (ar) do not know except that I (ar) saw in the shadow of the Clan of Sa’ada where the Helpers were disputing, and the one who was the first to pledged his allegiance to him was Basheer Bin Sa’ad, and Abu Ubeyda Bin Al-Jarrah, then Umar, then Saalim’. He (asws) said; ‘I (asws) did not ask you (ar) about this, but do you (ar) know the first one who pledged his allegiance when he ascended upon the Pulpit of the Rasool Allah (saww)?’ I (ar) said, ‘No, but I (ar) saw an old man leaning upon his walking stick, with a mark of prostration between his eyes due to the intensity of Al-Tashmir (prostrations) climb up to him and he was weeping and saying, ‘Praise be to Allah (azwj) Who did not Cause me to die from the world until I saw you in this place. Extend your hand’. So he extended his hand, and he pledged his allegiance to him. Then he descended and went out from the Masjid’. So Ali (asws) said; ‘Do you know who he was?’ I said, ‘No, but his speech had displeased me, as if he was gloating at the passing away of the Prophet (saww)’. So he (asws) said; ‘That was Iblees (la), may Allah (azwj) Curse him (la). The Rasool Allah (saww) informed me (asws) that Iblees (la) and the chiefs of his (la) companions witnessed the Messenger (saww) establishing me (asws) to the people at Ghadeer Khumm by the Command of Allah (azwj), so he (saww) told them that I (asws) was higher to them than their own selves and commanded them that those who were present should make it reach to the absentees. So the devils and the castaways companions of his (la) turned towards Iblees (la) and said, ‘This community is a Blessed community and is infallible, and there is neither for you (la) nor for us (la) a way against them, for they have come to know their Imam (asws), and their shelter after their Prophet (saww). So Iblees (la) , may Allah (azwj) Curse him (la) went away bleak and in grief. And the Messenger (saww) informed me (asws) that when he (saww) passes away, the people would be pledging their allegiances to Abu Bakr in the shade of the Clan of Sa’ada after their quarrelling, then they would be coming to the Masjid, so the first one who would be pledging his allegiance upon my (saww) Pulpit would be Iblees (la) may Allah (azwj) Curse him (la) in the image of an old man with mark of prostration, saying such and such. Then he (la) will go out and gather his (la) Satans and devils and excitedly say to them, ‘All of you (la) thought that there was no way for me (la) against them, so how do you (la) see what I (la) have done with them, to the extent that they had left the Command of Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic, and being obedient to Him (azwj), and what the Rasool Allah (saww) has commanded them for’.

I said to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “May I sacrifice myself for you! How short are your lives, O Ahlul Bayt! And how close are your deaths to one another while the entire creation needs you?!” Imam (a.s.) replied: There is a sheet for each one of us (the Imams (a.s.)) which contains everything that we need to do during our time. Once every order on that sheet has been carried out, we know that our death is imminent. The Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) comes to us and informs us that our death has come and he informs us of the rewards that Allāh has prepared for us. Verily Ḥusain (a.s.) read the sheet that was entrusted to him, and that which would happen and that which was yet to come were explained to him. There were a few things left on Ḥusain’s sheet which had not been fulfilled when he rose to fight. Those matters were that the angels asked Allāh for permission to help Ḥusain (a.s.) (in fighting) and Allāh granted it to them. While they were preparing themselves for battle, Ḥusain (a.s.) was killed. When the angels descended (to earth), they found that Ḥusain’s time had passed and he had been killed. Therefore, they said (to Allāh), “O Lord! You gave us permission to descend to earth to support Ḥusain but when we arrived, You had already taken him back (to Yourself)?!” Allāh – the Most Exalted – revealed to them, “Stay by his grave until (the day) when you see him rise (again) and then support him. Cry over him and over losing the opportunity to support him. Verily you have been chosen to support him and to cry over him.” The angels were grieved and they cried and mourned over losing the opportunity to support Ḥusain (a.s.). However, when he rises, they will be (among) his supporters.
