he heard the Righteous Servant (Imam Musa ibn Jafar Al-Kadhim (as)) say: "It is recommended for a boy to be lively and energetic in his childhood so that he may grow to be gentle and patient in his adulthood."

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Feed your women with al-Barniy (dates) during their childbirth; your children will grow up forbearing.’”

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about children when they line up for obligatory Salah (prayer). He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not push them back from obligatory but separate them from each other (boys from girls).’”

Salih ibn ‘Uqbah narrated to me saying the following: “I heard the virtuous servant of Allah saying, ‘It is preferable to involve a child in difficult tasks when he is small, so he can be forbearing when he grows up.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘It is not proper to be other than as such.’”

“I once wrote to abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saying, ‘I have avoided praying for a son for five years because my wife dislikes it and says that bringing up a child is very difficult because of lack of resources.’ He (the Imam) (a.s.), wrote to me, ‘Ask for them (children): Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, will grant them sustenance.’”

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), if we can make a new born drink wine. He (the Imam) said, ‘If one makes a child drink wine’ or he said, ‘intoxicating liquor, Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, will make him drink al-Hamim (boiling water that roasts the face when drinking) of hell even if He forgives him.’”

“Once a man congratulated another man on the birth of his son by saying, ‘Congratulation for the birth of the rider (the knight).’ Al-Hasan (a.s.) then said, ‘How would you know if he will be a rider or walking on foot?’ He asked, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, what I should say?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Say, “May Allah enable you to thank the Benefactor. May the gift be a blessing for you and may Allah make him to grow up to manhood! May Allah give you the chance to enjoy his good deeds.'"

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. ‘On the seventh day from birth offer ‘Aqiqah, shave the head of the child and give in charity an amount of silver equal to the weight of his hairs and cut the meat of Aqiqah without breaking any bones, then cook the meat and invite a group of Muslims to be served.’”

No reward will follow a man after his death except in three things: (1) A continuous deed (sadaqa jariya) that he had established in his life that continues after his death. (2) A tradition of guidance that continues after his death. (3) A righteous child that seeks repentance for him.

“Six things will benefit a believer after his death: 1. A child who seeks God for his parent’s forgiveness; 2. A book which he has left behind; 3. A tree which he has planted; 4. A water well which he has dug up; 5. Charity which he has established; and 6. A good tradition from him which is acted on after him.”

A believer will benefit from six things after his death: (1) a righteous child that seeks repentance on his behalf, (2) a mus`haf that he recited from, (3) wells that he built, (4) plants that he grew, (5) running water that he gave in charity, and (6) [establishing] a beautiful tradition that is practiced after him.

Musa b. `Imran (as) said: O Lord! I am pleased with what You have decided, but You cause adults to die and leave behind their young children. So, Allah said: O Musa! Are you not pleased with Me as their Sustainer and their Protector? He said: Of course, O Lord. You are the best Trustee and the best Protector.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If the birth of a child for one of you is delayed, he should say this prayer, ‘O Lord, do not leave me all by myself- and You are the best heir- alone and frightened so that my thoughts about a child reduce my thanks (to You). Grant me truthful consequences (successors) of male (children) and female ones who comfort me in my apprehension and I can find tranquility with them in my loneliness and thank You upon completion of bounties, O Magnanimous, O Great and O giver of greatness. Thereafter grant me good health and the ability to thank You until You take me to the stage where You will be pleased with me in truthfulness of words, safe return of trust and keeping the promise.”’

the Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Among the etiquettes of a guest is that he does not fast voluntarily except with the host's permission. Among the obedience of a wife to her husband is that she does not fast voluntarily except with his permission and instruction. Among the righteousness and obedience of a servant to his master is that he does not fast voluntarily except with his master's permission. Among the dutifulness of a child to their parents is that they do not fast voluntarily except with their parents' permission and command. Otherwise, the guest would be ignorant, the wife disobedient, the servant corrupt and sinful, and the child undutiful." [chapte=CHAPTER 54 - CHAPTER ON GHUSL (RITUAL PURIFICATION) ON SPECIFIC NIGHTS IN THE MONTH OF RAMADAN, AND WHAT HAS BEEN NARRATED ABOUT THE LAST TEN NIGHTS AND THE NIGHT OF QADR] بَابُ الْغُسْلِ فِي اللَّيَالِي الْمَخْصُوصَةِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ وَمَا جَاءَ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وَفِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ H1ِ 2015 - رَوَى اَلْعَلاَءُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا عَلَيْهِمَا اَلسَّلاَمُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «يُغْتَسَلُ فِي ثَلاَثِ لَيَالٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فِي تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَ إِحْدَى وَ عِشْرِينَ وَ ثَلاَثٍ وَ عِشْرِينَ وَ أُصِيبَ أَمِيرُ اَلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فِي تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَ قُبِضَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فِي إِحْدَى وَ عِشْرِينَ » قَالَ «وَ اَلْغُسْلُ فِي أَوَّلِ اَللَّيْلِ وَ هُوَ يُجْزِي إِلَى آخِرِهِ ». Hadith.2015 - Al-'Ala narrated from Muhammad ibn Muslim from one of the Imams (as) that he said: "One should perform the ritual bath (ghusl) on three nights in the Month of Ramadan: the nineteenth, the twenty-first, and the twenty-third. The Commander of the Faithful (as) was struck on the nineteenth and passed away on the twenty-first." Imam (as) added: "The ghusl should be performed at the beginning of the night, and it suffices until its end."

I asked him, “For what reason did Allah, the Mighty and High, drown the whole of the earth in the time of Nuh (AS), while there were children among them who were free of sin?” So he (AS) replied, There were no children among them, because Allah, the Mighty and High, made the male reproductive system infertile and the female wombs barren for forty years. Thus, their lineage was cut. So He drowned them while there were no children among them. Allah, the Mighty and High, does not destroy with His Punishment anyone who is without sin. As for the rest of Nuh’s (AS) people then they were drowned for belying Nuh, the Prophet of Allah, (AS). They were all drowned for agreeing with the belying ones. Whoever is absent from a matter, and agrees to it, is like one that witnesses it and commits it.

I asked Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) about a man who had three unmarried daughters. He married one of them to a man but did not specify which daughter to the husband or the witnesses. The husband had already agreed upon a dowry for her. When the time came for the husband to consummate the marriage, he was informed that the bride was the eldest daughter. However, the husband said to the father, "I only intended to marry your youngest daughter." Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) replied: "If the husband had seen all the daughters and had not specified one of them, then the decision is based on the father's word. However, the father must, before Allah (swt) (Glorified and Exalted), give the husband the daughter he intended to marry off at the time of the marriage contract. But if the husband had not seen all the daughters and no specific one was identified during the marriage contract, then the marriage is invalid."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said the following: ‘Jesus, son of Marry, once passed by a grave wherein its dweller suffered a great suffering. He passed by the same grave afterward but found the dweller was not suffering. He asked, “O Lord, I passed by this grave a year ago when he was suffering a great suffering and this year I passed by his grave but he did not suffer.” Allah then revealed to him that his virtuous son became mature who repaired a road and gave shelter to an orphan, so I forgave him because of what his son has done.’ The Messenger of Allah then said, ‘It is of the inheritance of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, for His believing servant in the form of a virtuous son who worships Him after the death of his father’ and he (the Imam) then read the verse of the Quran about Zakariya, ‘. . . O Lord, grant me from You an heir who will inherit me and the people of Ya‘qub. O Lord, make him to please You.’”
