Imam Ali (AS) said, If you would like to remain safe and conceal your faults, then reduce your speech and increase your silence, [by this] your thinking will abound, your heart will become illuminated and people will remain safe from you.

Imam Ali (AS) said, Verily whoever busies himself with what is obligatory upon him instead of that which has been guaranteed for him, and is satisfied with what has been decreed for and against him; he will be the healthiest person in wellbeing, the most profiting from felicity and the most benefitting from happiness.

Ali ibn al-Husayn (as) was born in the year 38 AH. He passed away in the year 95 AH at the age of 57. His mother was Salma bint Yazdegerd ibn Shahriyar ibn Shirawayh ibn Kisra Perwiz. Yazdegerd was the last Persian king.

I heard Abu Ibrahim, Imam Kadhim (a.s) say: So and so [Bani Abbas] would arrest and imprison me. Then he said: Although this matter would be much prolonged, but it would end in a nice way.

"Beware of taking lost property, for it is the loss of a believer, and it is a flame from the flames of Hell."

I asked Abu Abdullah (as), about a man who made his slave mudabbar (to be freed after his death) while he was in debt, intending to escape from paying the debt. Imam (as) said: "There is no valid tadbir (declaration of delayed emancipation) in this case. However, if he made the tadbir while he was in good health and free from any financial distress, then the creditors have no claim over the slave."

Whoever sees a poor person and greets him in a manner different from that with which he greets a rich man will visit God on the Resurrection Day while God is angry with him."

Allāh the Glorified, has distinguished you with Islam and has chosen you for it. This is because it is the name of safety and the collection of honour. Allāh the Glorified, chose its way and disclosed its pleas through open knowledge and secret maxims. Its (Qur’ān) wonders are not exhausted and its delicacies do not end. It contains blossoming bounties and lamps of darkness. (The doors of) virtues cannot be opened save with its keys, nor can gloom be dispelled save with its lamps. Allāh has protected its inaccesible points (from enemies) and allowed grazing (to its followers) in its pastures. It contains cover (from the ailment of misguidance) for the seeker of cure and full support for the seeker of support.

Imam Zayn al-Abidin (AS) said in his supplication, '…and divert our hearts from every other act of remembrance through Your remembrance, our tongues from every other act of thanksgiving through [being preoccupied with] thanking You, our limbs from every other act of obedience through [being preoccupied with] obedience to You! If You have ordained for us idleness in an occupation, make it an idleness of safety, wherein no ill consequence visits us nor weariness overtakes us as a result! Then the writers of evil deeds may depart from us with a page empty of the mention of our evil deeds, and the writers of good deeds may leave us happy with the good deeds of ours which they have written.'

“Soundness of religion and good health is better than property. Property is a beauty of the worldly beauties and it is a good thing.” Muhammad ibn Isma’il has narrated from Fadl ibn Shadhan from Hammad from Rib’i from al-Fudayl from abu Ja’far (a.s.) a similar Hadith.

Hadith.1847 - Among the sayings of Amir al-Mu'minin (as) upon sighting the crescent was: "O obedient creation, tireless, swift, revolving in the orbit of decreed management, moving through the stages of measured determination. I believe in the One who brightened the darkness with you, illuminated obscurities through you, and made you a sign among the signs of His sovereignty. He subjected you to increase and decrease, rising and setting, illumination and eclipse. In all of this, you remain obedient to Him and quick to fulfill His will. Glory be to Him! How excellent is His management, and how perfect is His craftsmanship in His dominion. May Allah (swt) make you the crescent of a new month for a new matter, a crescent of security, faith, peace, and submission, a crescent free from calamities and safe from sins. O Allah (swt), make us the most rightly guided of those upon whom it rises and the purest of those who gaze upon it. Blessings of Allah (swt) be upon Muhammad, the Prophet, and his family. O Allah (swt), do for me [such-and-such] O Most Merciful of the merciful!"

Oppressors inherit it by (mutual) agreement. The first of them serves as a leader for the latter one and the latter one follows the first one. They vie with each other in (the matter of) this lowly world, and leap over this stinking carcass. Shortly the follower will denounce his connection with the leader, and the leader with the follower. They will disunite on account of mutual and curse one another when they meet. Then after this there will appear another arouser of mischief who will destroy ruined things. The heart will become wavering after being normal, men will be misled after safety, desires will multiply and become diversified and views will become confused.

Whoever meets a poor Muslim and greets him in a way that is different than the way he greets the rich, Allah will be angry when he meets Him on the Day of Resurrection.

You are the people of Allah’s greeting and salutation. You are the people of Allah’s preference and mercy, Allah’s success and guard, and the advocacy and the obedience to Allah. No judgement will be maintained for you. No fear and no sadness will affect you.

“I once visited abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and when I spoke to him he (the Imam) asked, ‘Why do I hear your voice as weak?’ I replied, ‘Because my mouth has fallen (perhaps a tooth).’ As if it seemed to grieve him (the Imam); and then he asked, ‘What do you eat?’ I replied, ‘I eat whatever is at home.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You must eat Tharid (bread made in pieces in broth) because there is blessing in it and if it does not have meat then vinegar and oil are fine.’”

He has fixed for you ages that are not known to you. He has retained for you remains of the past people for your instruction. Those people enjoyed themselves fully and were completely unhampered. Death overtook them before (satisfaction of) their desires, from which the hands of death separated them. They did not provide for themselves during health of their bodies, and did not take lesson during pendency of youth. Are these people who are in youth waiting for the back-bending old age, and those enjoying fresh health waiting for ailments, and these living persons looking for the hour of death? When the hour of departure would be close and the journey at hand, with pangs of grief an trouble, suffering of sorrows and suffocation of saliva, and the time would arrive for calling relations and friends for help and changing sides on the bed.

Shaykh Husain Ibn Rauh sent the book of Kitabul Tadib to Qom and wrote to a group of jurists about it and asked them to examine the book and see whether there was anything disagreeable in it. They wrote to him, “All of it is correct and there is nothing in it to be differed with, except the assertion with respect to the amount of fitra to be half of a saa (a cubic measure) of food and food before us is the like of barley from every one saa.”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Shabbah ibn ‘ Aqqal once said to me, ‘You think that if one says, “What Allah has made lawful is unlawful for me” (as you believe) does not have any valid effect.’ I said, ‘About your word ‘lawful is unlawful for me’ you can consider what ’Amir al- Mu’minin, al-Walid decided about the issue of Salamah and his wife when he sent for a fatwa from people of Iraq and people of al-Sham who had differences over the issue. He then decided according to the words of the people of al-Hijjaz who say that it does not have any valid effect.’”

“Whoever worships Allah without learning (the principles of worship) from a truthful jurisprudent, Allah will let him be confused and astray and whoever claims that he has heard from other than the gate (source) that Allah has opened to His people, is considered as a polytheist. That gate is the trusted one, who has been entrusted (by Allah) with the hidden secret of Allah.” The same thing was narrated by Muhammad bin Ya’qoob al-Kulayni from some of his companions from Abdul Adheem bin Abdullah al-Hasani from Malik bin Aamir from al-Mufadhdhal bin Za’ida from al-Mufadhdhal bin Umar from Imam as-Sadiq (as).

Imam Ali (AS) said, If I wished to inform every man from among you of where he has come from and where he is going to and about all his affairs, I would do so, but I fear that you will take me and abandon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. However, I will convey it to the selected ones who are safe from that [fear]. By the One who sent him with truth and chose him above the creation, I do not speak save the truth. He (the Prophet) has informed me about all this and about the destruction of those who are destroyed and the salvation of those who are saved (and the consequences of this matter [of the caliphate]). He left nothing that I would encounter except that he put it into my ear and informed me about it.
