زهير بن معاوية: أبو خيثمة الجعفي. من أصحاب الصادق عليه السلام، رجال الشيخ (87). قال في الاختصاص: وروى عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن عبد الله ابن محمد بن عمر بن علي بن أبي طالب عليهما السلام، قال: قلت لأبي نعيم الفضل بن دكين: كان زهير بن معاوية يحرس خشبة زيد بن علي؟ قال: نعم وكان فيه شر من ذلك، وكان جده الرحيل في من قتل الحسين عليه السلام، وكان زهير يختلف إلى قائده وقائده يحرس الخشبة، وهو زهير بن معاوية بن خديج بن الرحيل (إنتهى). أقول: لم يثبت أن كتاب الاختصاص للشيخ المفيد قدس سره وعلى تقدير تسليمه فالرواية مرسلة، على أنه لم يعلم اتحاد المذكور في الرواية مع من ذكره الشيخ قدس سره. نعم إن الرجل الحال، ومجرد كونه من أصحاب الصادق عليه السلام لا يوجب وثاقته.
