خباب بن الأرت: من أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله، رجال الشيخ (3). روى الصدوق في أبواب الخمسة من الخصال، الحديث 89، عن محمد بن علي بن إسماعيل، قال: حدثني البحري، قال: حدثنا محمد بن حرب الواسطي، قال: حدثني يزيد بن هارون، عن أبي شيبة، قال: حدثنا رجل من همدان عن أبيه، قال: قال علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام: السباق خمسة، فأنا سابق العرب وسلمان سابق فارس وصهيب سابق الروم وبلال سابق حبش وخباب سابق النبط. وذكر المحدث النوري، في مده عدة روايات ثم قال: " ومن الغريب أن العلامة المجلسي مع اخراجه هذه الأخبار في مجلدات بحاره، قال في الوجيزة خباب مجهول ". أقول: رواية الصدوق وغيرها مما ورد في مدح خباب كلها ضعيفة فلا اعتماد عليها، فما ذكره المجلسي من جهالة خباب هو الصحيح. قال الطريحي في مجمع البحرين: " مات قبل الفتنة (حرب الخوارج) ترحم عليه علي عليه السلام، فقال: رحم الله خبابا، لقد أسلم راغبا، وهاجر طائعا، وعاش مجاهدا ".
