الحسين بن كثير

Imam al-Sadiq (AS), speaking to Muhammad al-Khazzaz, said, ‘Do you not go to the market? Do you not see the fruit that is sold, and the things that you desire? al-Khazzaz said, ‘Yes. He (AS) said, ‘For everything you see but you cannot [afford to] buy, you receive the reward of a good deed.

“Once Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) asked me, ‘Do you want to go to the market where fruits and things that you desire are sold?’ I said, ‘Yes, 1 like to go.’ The Imam said, ‘However, for everything that you like to buy but cannot buy there is a reward of one good deed for you.’”

“I saw abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), wearing a shirt of rough texture underneath his clothes, over which was a woolen gown over which was a thick shirt and I felt it, and said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, people dislike wearing wool.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Not so, my father, Muhammad ibn Ali (a.s.), would wear it as well as Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.), did. They, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, wore their clothes of the roughest texture in their Salat (prayer) and we also do so.’”

a man asked him about reciting (Qur'an) behind the Imam (during prayer). Imam (as) said: "No, the Imam is responsible for the recitation, but the Imam does not take responsibility for the prayers of those behind him; he is only responsible for the recitation."

I said to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “People narrate that those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) will receive the reward of performing a Hajj and an ‘Umrah.” Imam (a.s.) said, “I swear to Allāh that those who go to his Ziyārah knowing his rights will be forgiven for all of their past and future sins.” The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: My father, and all of our scholars, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain ibn Kuthayr, from Hārūn ibn Khārijah, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).
