Everything in this book that is narrated from Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Halabi has been transmitted by me from my father, Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan, and Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Al-Mutawakkil - may Allah (swt) be pleased with them all - from Abdullah ibn Ja'far Al-Himyari, from Ayyub ibn Nuh, from Safwan ibn Yahya, from Abdullah ibn Muskan, from Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Halabi.

Hadith.5357 - In the narration of Abdullah ibn Muskan from Abu Abdullah Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as), regarding a man who beheaded a dead person Imam (as) said: "The blood money is upon him because the sanctity of the deceased is like his sanctity when he was alive."

Everything in this book that is narrated from Abdullah ibn Miskan has been transmitted by me from my father and from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with them both - from Muhammad ibn Yahya Al-Attar, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khattab, from Safwan ibn Yahya, from Abdullah ibn Miskan. He was a Kufan and a freed servant (mawla) of the tribe of Anzah, and it is also said that he was a freed servant of the tribe of Ujl.

‘‘The Messenger of Allah once met Harithah ibn Malik al- Nu’man al-Ansari and asked him, ‘How are you, O Harithah ibn Malik?’ He replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I am a believer in a real sense.’ The Messenger of Allah then asked, ‘Everything has a reality and essence. What are the reality and essence of your words?’ “He replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, my soul has withdrawn from this world; it has kept me awake all night and to endure thirst in the middle of the day. It is as if I am looking to the Throne of my Lord that is established to bring all people to account. It is as if I am looking at the people of paradise who are visiting each other and I hear the barking of the people of hell therefrom.’ The Messenger of Allah, then said, ‘He is a servant whose heart is brightened (by the command of) Allah. You have reached (true) understanding, remain steadfast.’ He then asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah for me to grant me martyrdom (while working hard to support your cause) along with you.’ The Messenger of Allah prayed, ‘O Allah, grant him martyrdom.’ Within very few days thereafter, he (the messenger of Allah) dispatched a group of people for an armed expedition and Harithah was among them. He (Harithah) fought the enemy and did away with eight or nine people before he became a martyr. “In the narration of al-Qasim from his father from abu Basir it is said that Harithah was martyred in the army of Ja’far ibn abu Talib after the martyrdom of nine people.”

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said this Hadith. ‘One who issues judgment even about two dirham by means of injustice then applies it by force is of those to whom this verse of the Quran applies, “. . . those who issue judgment but not according to the laws of Allah, they are of the unbelievers.” (5:44) I then said, ‘How does he enforce on him?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He is one who has the whip and jail. He issues judgment against him to agree with his judgment, otherwise, he beats him up with his whip and confines him in his jail.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, would begin with Halwa (sweet dish) for Iftaar (breaking of the fast). If this was not available, he would use sugar or dates, and if no such items were available, he then would use water and say, ‘It cleanses the stomach and liver, helps bad breathe and the scent of the mouth, strengthens the teeth, the pupil of the eye and eyesight, and washes off sins. It calms down hyper veins and the gallbladder, cuts down mucus, cools heartburn and relieves sinus congestions.’”

“I said to Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as): “We describe the man of this matter (al-Qa’im) with the aspects that no one of the people has ever had.” He said: “No, By Allah, it is not so. It is he himself, who will argue with you about that and will invite you to it.”

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Shall I not inform you of who the Fire will be forbidden from anon? They said: Of course, O Messenger of Allah. He said: The meek, the near, the tender, and the easygoing.

Love your Muslim brother. Love for him what you love for yourself. Hate for him what you hate for yourself. If you need something, ask him for it, and if he asks you, then give to him. Do not spare him from goodness as he does not spare you from goodness. Be a back to him as he is a back to you. When he goes, then protect [his belongings] in his absence. When he is present, visit him. Honour him, for he is from you and you are from him. If he blames you, then do not depart from him until you seek his forgiveness and [ask him to speak] his mind. If a good thing happens to him, then praise Allah for it, and if he suffers, then support him and share in his burden.

I said to him (asws), ‘May I be sacrificed for you (asws), do you (asws) see the one who rejects this matter (Al-Wilayah) to me as if he has rejected you (asws)?’ He (asws) said: ‘O Abu Muhammad! The one who rejects this matter to you, so he has rejected against the Rasool Allah (saww), and against Allah (azwj) Blessed and High. O Abu Muhammad! The dead ones from among you who were upon this matter (Al-Wilayah) is the martyr’. I said, ‘Even if he died upon his bed?’ He (asws) said: ‘Yes, by Allah (azwj), even if he died upon his bed, he is alive in the Presence of his Lord (azwj) being given Sustenance’.

We were in the presence of Abu Ja’far (AS), so we mentioned what the people had done after their Prophet (sw), and their humiliating Amir-ul-Momineen (AS). So a man from the people said, ‘May Allah keep you well, so where were the strong ones of the Clan of Hashim (AS) and what was their number?’ So Abu Ja’far (AS) said: ‘And from those ones of the Clan of Hashim (as) that remained were Ja’far (as) and Hamza (as) who had passed away (martyred), and there remained with them two men who were weak, disgraceful, new ones in the era of Al-Islam, Abbas and Aqeel who were from the freed ones. By Allah! If Hamza (as) and Ja’far (as) were present among them, they would not have achieved what they achieved. And had they seen them (as) two, they would not have damaged themselves’.

“A person who utters the name of Allah while performing ablution is like one who has performed a Ghusl.”

The people disputed in the presence of Abu Ja’far (asws). So some of them said, ‘The wars fought by Ali (asws) were (against a people) more evil than the wars fought by the Rasool Allah (saww), and some of them said, ‘The wars fought by the Rasool Allah (saww) were (against a people) more evil than the wars fought by Ali (asws)’. He (the narrator) said, ‘So Abu Ja’far listened to them and said: ‘What are you all saying?’ So they said, ‘May Allah (azwj) keep you (asws) well, we are disputing with regards to the wars of the Rasool Allah (saww) and the wars of Ali (asws). Some of us are saying that the wars of Ali (asws) were (against a people) more evil than the wars fought by the Rasool Allah (saww), whilst some of us are saying that the wars fought by the Messenger (saww) were (against a people) more evil than the wars fought by Ali (asws)’. So Abu Ja’far (asws) said: ‘No! But, the wars of Ali (asws) were (against a people) more evil than the wars of the Rasool Allah (saww)’. So I said to him (asws), ‘May I be sacrificed for you (asws), the wars of Ali (asws) were (against a people) more evil than the wars of the Rasool Allah (saww)?’ He (asws) said: ‘Yes, and I (asws) shall inform you about that. The Messenger (saww) fought wars (against a people) who did not accept Al-Islam, and that the wars of Ali (asws) were (against a people) who accepted Al-Islam, then fought against him (asws)’.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one becomes a Muslim before the legacy is distributed, he receives his share but if one becomes a Muslim after the legacy is distributed then there is nothing for him.’”

I heard al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) say: Whoever undertakes a matter from the matters of the people justly, opens his door, raises his curtain, and looks into the matters of the people, it will be a responsibility upon Allah to secure his splendour on the Day of Resurrection and bring him into Paradise.

I asked Abu Abdullah (as) about a man who is killed while he has debt and possesses no wealth. Do his heirs have the right to pardon his killer while he has debt? Imam (as) said: "The creditors are the ones who have a claim against the killer. If his heirs pardon his killer, they become responsible for paying the debt to the creditors. If they do not pardon him, then they are not responsible."

"The Commander of the Faithful (as) ruled that the manumitted slave (Al-mudabbar) is to be freed from one-third of the estate. A man has the right to revoke his will, to add to it or reduce from it, as long as he has not passed away."

The Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny said: "How will it be for you O ‘Ali, when you will stand on the brim of hellfire, and the bridge (Sirat) will be laid, and the people will be told: ’Cross the bridge.’ And you will tell the hellfire: ’This is for me, and this is for you!’ So ‘Ali said: "O messenger of Allah, who will be those with me?" He said: "They are your Shi’ahs, with you wherever you will be."

“I heard Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as) saying: Every banner that is raised-or comes out-before the appearance of al-Qa’im (as) will be of an oppressive arrogant.”
