“When a servant prays, Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, says to the two angels, ‘I have accepted his prayer, but keep it on hold; I love to hear his voice.’ It may also happen that a servant prays, but Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, says, ‘Hurry up and help him quickly; I hate his voice.’”

I said to Abu Abdillah (as): "A man buys hides from a butcher and pays him a fixed amount every day." Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in that."

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘Be pious before Allah and protect your religion by means of restraint from worldly matters (sins).’”

“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘You must maintain piety before Allah and protect your religion by means of restraint from sins and strengthen your religion by means of taqiyah (caution), and self-sufficiency with Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious. Whoever is submissive before al-Sultan and those who oppose one’s religion seeking thereby the worldly things in their hands, Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, suppresses his mention and hates him and leaves him to his own self. If he finds something of the worldly things Allah will take away blessings thereof and will not reward him for anything that he may spend thereof for al-Hajj, setting free slaves or for any good cause.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who bought skins from the butcher to give him every day something clearly known. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who comes to me and asks me for certain goods at the price of ten thousand dirham or less or more but I have only what is worth one thousand dirham. I then borrow from my neighbor and take from this and that person to complete the amount and sell to him; then buy from him or ask someone else to buy from him so that I then can return to the people from whom I had borrowed. He (the Imam) said, It is lawful.’”

Abu Abdullah (asws) has said: ‘When the ascension (Me’raaj) took place with the Rasool Allah (saww), in the morning he (saww) sat and narrated it to them (his (saww) companions). So they said to him (saww), ‘Describe for us Bayt Al-Maqdas’. So he (saww) described it for them, as he (saww) had seen it during the night, therefore they remained vague about it. So Jibraeel came to him (saww) and said: ‘Look over there!’ So he (saww) looked towards Al-Bayt (Al-Maqdas) and described it to them whilst looking at it. Then he (saww) described for them the caravan, which was in between them and Syria. Then said: ‘These were the camels of the Clan of so and so and will be arriving with the rise of the sun, led by a red camel’. And the Quresyh then sent a man upon a horse to turn these back, but it still arrived with the rise of the sun. Qurtat Bin Abd Amro said, ‘O a grief that I don’t be for you a trunk (strong enough) when you (saww) claims that you (saww) came to Bait Al-Maqdis and returned in the same night (O Prophet (saww)!).

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when one’s realization of the bounties of Allah becomes intense, it increases his spending for people. You should continue preserving bounties by means of bearing the cost of maintenance. Do not expose bounties to losses. Once bounties are lost, very rarely do they return.”

I have heard Abu Abdillah Ja’far ibn Muhammad, peace be upon him say: "Guard yourselves from the sins fearing Allah and protect your religion with piety. And lend it strength by dissimulation (where necessary) and by relying solely on Allah for your needs, rather than on those who possess worldly power. And know you all, that whoever submits to the one possessing worldly authority, or to the one who is opposed to his faith, in order to gain something from his transitory bounties, Allah will weaken his force, subject him to His utter displeasure and entrust all his affairs to that person. And, if at all he acquires something from that man, Allah will not bless that gain with His benediction and will not reward him from whatever he spends for Hajj, or for freeing a slave or for any good deed."

“It is not an offense for a man to begin with the name of his friend in a letter instead of his own name.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘The minimum form of causing suffering and disappointment to parents is the expression, ‘Uff. Had Allah known anything less disappointing than ‘Uff, He would have prohibited it.’”

“Minimum of al-‘Uquq, (to cause disappointment) is to say ‘Uff (expression of disapproval). Had Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, known anything expressing a lesser degree of disappointment than this ‘Uff, He would have prohibited it.”
