“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘You must maintain piety before Allah and protect your religion by means of restraint from sins and strengthen your religion by means of taqiyah (caution), and self-sufficiency with Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious. Whoever is submissive before al-Sultan and those who oppose one’s religion seeking thereby the worldly things in their hands, Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, suppresses his mention and hates him and leaves him to his own self. If he finds something of the worldly things Allah will take away blessings thereof and will not reward him for anything that he may spend thereof for al-Hajj, setting free slaves or for any good cause.’”
