1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “One who takes Allah’s oath knowing that he is lying, it is as if he has waged a war against Allah.”

“Obtain recognition of your Imam. If you are able to gain their recognition, it will not make any difference whether the period of their rule comes earlier or later. If one is able to gain the cognition of his Imam and he dies before his rule, and the reappearance of the Imam comes later, he would also be rewarded as one who is present in the Imam’s army.”

Once I was sitting with Abu Abdullah as-Sadiq (as) when al-Mu’alla bin Khunays asked him: “Will al-Qa’im (as), when he appears, act unlike the way, in which Ali (as) has acted?” He said: “Yes, he will. Ali has acted with leniency and forgiving because he has known that his Shia are going to be controlled after him. But al-Qa’im (as), when appears, will kill and capture because he knows that his Shia will not be defeated after him forever.”

the commander of the faithful عليه السلام said: men are of three kinds: intelligent, foolish and corrupt sinner, as for the intelligent one the religion is his path, and forbearance is his habit, and giving counsel is his disposition, when he is asked he answers, and when he speaks he is to the point, and when he hears he comprehends, and when he reports he is truthful, and when one confides in him he is loyal, as for the fool if someone alerts him to a beautiful thing he overlooks it, and if he is dissuaded from good he acquiesces to forsake it, and if he is driven to ignorance he becomes ignorant, and if he reports he is incorrect, he does not understand and if perchance he is able to understand he does not learn from it, and as for the corrupt sinner if you rely on him he betrays you, and if you befriend him he hates you, and if you trust him he is not sincere with you.

I asked him about a matter so he answered me, then a man came to him and asked him about it so he answered him with a different answer to mine, then another man came so he answered him with a different answer to the one he gave me and the first man, so when the two men had exited I said: O the son of the messenger of Allāh – two men from the people of Iraq from among your followers came to ask you – but you answered each one of them with a different answer? He said: O Zurara, this is better and more safe for us and you, for if you were all to unite upon one position the people would believe you [in what you say] about us and that would be a threat to both our and your survival, he (Zurara) said: then I [later] said to Abi Abdillah عليه السلام: your followers – if you were to make them move in the face of arrows or on fire they would do it but they come out from you having differences! He said: so he answered me with the same reply as his father.

‘I heard Abu Ja’far (asws) saying regarding the Statement of Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic: “[21:12] Yet, when they felt Our Punishment (coming), behold, they (tried to) flee from it. [21:13] Flee not, but return to the good things of this life which were given you, and to your homes in order that ye may be called to account.” He (asws) said: ‘When Al-Qaim (asws) makes the stand, and sends (an army) to the Clan of Umayya in Syria, so they will run away to ‘al-Rome’. So the Romans will say to them, ‘We will not let you enter until you become Christians’. So they will hang crosses upon their necks and allow them to enter. So when the companions of Al-Qaim (asws) descend upon them, they (Romans) will seek security and reconciliation. So the companions of Al-Qaim (asws) will say, ‘We will not do that until you hand over to us the ones who came to you beforehand from us’. So they will hand them over. So that is His (azwj) Statement: “[21:13] Flee not, but return to the good things of this life which were given you, and to your homes in order that ye may be called to account”. He (asws) said: ‘So he (asws) will question them about the treasure although he (asws) knows more than them about it. So they will say, ‘O woe be upon us! Surely we have been unjust’. They will not cease invoking that invocation of theirs until they will be cut down to extinction by the sword’.

“He will act as the Prophet (S) has acted. He will annul all what has been established before him as the Prophet (S) has annulled all that has been established in the pre-Islamic age. He will resume Islam anew.”

“The rising of as-Sufyani is an inevitable matter. He will rise in the month of Rajab. It will take, since his rising until his end, fifteen months. He will fight for six months. When he conquers the five districts, he will rule for nine months no more no less.”

"There is no harm in it. It is only disliked due to the fear of disgrace. Indeed, the child belongs to the father, and the woman is merely a vessel." I said: What about a man who buys a bondwoman born of fornication and has relations with her? He (as) said: "There is no harm in it."

“Once I was with Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as) and he said that two signs would appear before the appearance of al-Qa’im that had never appeared since Allah had sent Adam down to the earth. He said that the sun would be eclipsed in the middle of Ramadan and the moon would be eclipsed in the end of Ramadan. A man said: “O son of the messenger of Allah, it is the moon that will be eclipsed in the middle of Ramadan and the sun will be eclipsed in the end of it.” Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as) said: “I do know what I say. They are two signs that have never occurred since Adam (as) has descended to the earth.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one takes an oath which he knows is false he has opposed Allah, most Majestic, most 0100005 .’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who made a will about a part of his legacy. He (the Imam) said, ‘Apart is one-tenth because Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has said, ‘Place a part on every mountain’ the mountains were ten.’”

“Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, loves offering the greeting of peace openly, loud and clearly.”

“Once in the presence of Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) there were people speaking to him. One man mentioned the name of another man and he began to criticize him and complained against him. Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) asked, ‘Where from can you have a perfect brother? Who is among man, free and pure of faults and flaws?”’

“I asked abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, ‘He was a messenger, a prophet’. What is a messenger and what is a prophet?’” The Imam said, “A prophet is one who sees things in his dream and hears the voice but does not see the angel. The messenger is one who hears the voice, in his dreams and sees the angel.” I then said, “What is the position of the Imam?” The Imam (a.s.) said, “He hears the voice but does not see and observe the angel” Then he recited the following verse of the Holy Quran. ‘Satan would try to tamper with the desires of every prophet or messenger or muhaddath whom We sent...’” (22:52)

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘Whatever is hunted by swords, arrows and spears are lawful to use for food.’ He (the Imam) was asked about the prey, which is assigned to several people in portions before it dies. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’”

Men are of three kinds: A man (can be known) by his wealth, a man by his position, and a man by his tongue. And that is the best of the three.”

“I asked Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB), ‘What are the rights of the believers incumbent upon other believers?’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘There are seven rights for any believer that are incumbent upon other believers to honor. All seven are obligatory. If you do not honor any of these rights, you have left the domain of divine friendship and God’s obedience.’I asked the Imam (MGB), ‘May I be your ransom! What are these seven rights?’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘Excellent O Moála! The simplest right is that you should like for them what you like for yourself, and dislike for them what you dislike for yourself. The second right is that you must assist them in fulfilling their needs, please them and not oppose what they say. The third right is that you must use your soul, wealth, tongue, hands and feet to assist them. The fourth right is that you must be like their eyes, their guide, their mirror, and their clothing. The sixth right is that if you have a wife and a servant, and your brother doesn’t, you must send your servant to his house to wash his clothes, prepare his food and make his bed. These are all established duties between you and him. The seventh right is that you must accept his oath and his invitation. You must attend his burial ceremony. You should go to visit him if he gets ill, and make all efforts to fulfill his needs. You should not let him beg you for help, but immediately fulfill his needs. Once you do this, you have tied his friendship and yours together, and have tied your friendship to the Almighty God’s friendship.’”

Combing attracts the daily sustenance; it improves the hair; it fulfills the needs; it increases the amount of semen; and it reduces the phlegm.’ He continued, ‘God’s Prophet (MGB) combed his beard forty times upwards and seven times downwards and said, ‘This will improve the mind and stop the phlegm.’”
