“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘The Muslim bars a kafir (non-Muslim) and inherits from him, but a kafir cannot bar the believer and cannot inherit from him (believing person).”’

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the case of a man who divorces his wife when he is absent from her. He is in another city and has two men as witness about his divorce; then he goes back to her without witness. After expiration of waiting period he comes and finds out that she has married another man. He sends a message to her informing her about his revoking the divorce before the expiration of waiting period without witnesses. He (the narrator) has said that he (the Imam) said, ‘He has no way to her because he has confirmed divorce and has claimed revocation without witness, thus, he has no way to her. It is proper for one who divorces or revokes divorce to have witness about revocation like divorce. Had he been there before her marriage he could have been one of those who proposes to her for marriage.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who marries and finds Qarn in her. He (the Imam) said, ‘She cannot become pregnant, so she is returned to her family and the husband abstains from going to bed with her to return her to her family.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if he has gone to bed with her?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If he knew about it before going to bed with her then went to bed, he has agreed and if he comes to know it after going to bed then he can keep if he so wishes, or return her and she can have what she has received as mahr (dower).”’

Abu Abdullah (asws) has said: ‘The ship of Noah (as) was of the length of a thousand and two hundred cubits, and its width was of eight hundred cubits, and its height in the sky was eighty cubits, and its occupied the space in between Al-Saffa and Al-Marwa, and circled the House seven rounds, then settled upon Al-Joudy’.

"A Muslim prevents a disbeliever from inheriting and inherits from him, but a disbeliever neither prevents a believer from inheriting nor does he inherit from him."

"If the creditors are satisfied with him, then the deceased is absolved of liability."

I asked Abu Abdillah (as) about a man who married a woman and later found her to have a genital defect (imperforation or obstruction). Imam (as) said: "Such a woman cannot conceive and should be returned to her family." I said: What if he had already consummated the marriage with her? Imam (as) said: "If he knew about the defect before having relations with her and still proceeded, then he has accepted her. However, if he only discovered it after consummating the marriage, then he has the choice to either keep her or return her to her family. In either case, she is entitled to keep what he gave her for making her private parts lawful to him."

I asked him about a man who found a stolen animal that belonged to his neighbor, so he took it to return it to him, but the animal died. Imam (as) said: "There is nothing (no liability) upon him."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a quantity of water measures one Kur it does not become unclean.’ I then asked, ‘How much is the quantity of Kur?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘Three and a half shibr in depth and three and a half in width. ”’(A Shibr is from the tip of thumb to the tip of the small finger with the palm spread open)

“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah, say this. ‘One, for coming true of his wish, may take a proper Wudu’, perform two Rak‘at Salah (prayer) with complete Ruku‘ and sajdah. He then can sit and praises Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious. He then can say, “Allahumma Salli ‘Ala Muhammad wa ‘Ali Muhammad (O Allah grant Muhammad and his family a compensation worthy of their serving Your cause).” Thereafter ask Allah for his needs, he has asked Him for needs in a time of a good chance for acceptance, in which case one is not deprived of coming true of his wish.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘I heard abu Ja‘far (a.s.), when speaking to ‘Ata’ say, “The length of the Ark of Noah was one thousand two hundred yards, its width was eight hundred and its height was two hundred yards. The Ark performed Tawaf around the House and Sa‘iy between al-Safa’ and al-Marwah seven times, then it took a stationary position on al-Judiy.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a man because of a mental condition cannot divorce properly, his guardian must do it for him according to Sunnah .’ I then asked, ‘What happens if because of ignorance he divorced her three times at the same place and time?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is returned to the Sunnah and when three months pass or three Hayd (menses)-free periods, she becomes stranger to him with one divorce.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman who is married, but before going to bed with her husband, has died leaving behind her mother, two brothers from her father and mother and her grandfather, who is the father of her mother, and her husband. He (the Imam) said, ‘The husband receives one-half and the rest belongs to her mother. The grandfather does not receive anything; his daughter bars him from inheritance and brothers do not receive anything.’”

“Whoever performs ablution properly, and performs two units of prayers, and after completing his bowing down and prostration sits down and praises God, and sends blessings on the Prophet (a.s), and then asks God what he wants, has indeed requested the good from the proper source. Whoever requests the good from its proper source will not be sorry.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), would say, ‘If one, when advancing against the enemy after facing two men, flees, he is considered fleeing; however one who in such condition on facing three men flees, he is not considered fleeing. 5 ”
