Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, said: On you lies (the obligation of) obedience to the person about whom you cannot plead the excuse of ignorance. [1] ١٥٦. وَقَالَ (عليه السلام): عَلَيْكُمْ بِطَاعَةِ مَنْ لَا تُعْذَرُونَ بِجَهَالَتِهِ. Similar narrations Mīzān al-Ḥikma #2804 Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘It is incumbent upon you to obey the One whom you hold no excuse to remain ignorant of. Ghurar al-Ḥikam #5578 Imam Ali (AS) said, You must obey the One whom you cannot be excused for being ignorant about.
