“This is concerning my question before abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about al-Qabilah (special nurse who helps one’s mother during her giving birth and thereafter); if the child can marry her. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, not her daughter also, because she is one of his mothers.’ Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar has narrated the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If she just helps to give birth and moves on, then such nurses are many; but if she helps during birth, and brings him up, then she is unlawful for marriage.’”
