7. Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from ibn Sama‘ah, from ‘Iddah from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from Zurarah, from abi Ja'far (a.s.): “
I asked about a man who escorts his brother in the month of Ramadan for a distance of one day’s journey or two days.“ He (the Imam) said, ‘He should break his fast and complete its Qada’ (compensatory fast).’ It then was asked, ‘Is escorting more virtuous or is staying home to fast more virtuous?‘ He replied, ‘Escorting and breaking the fast is more virtuous; it is a right on him.”’
